I am getting fatter and fatter as each day goes by.
I feel like a Macy's Day Parade Float and I blame it on Tamoxifen!
I am down to only a few outfits in my closet that I can squeeze into. I have always been able to maintain a healthy weight and I have been working out since Feb of this year to combat weight gain fromTamo. I eat pretty healthy, drink SlimFast and work out with a trainer. I am 15 lbs up and gaining. Its not muscel weight, its all around my belly, hips and butt - its a big ol roll of fat! I am miserable. I know, people keep telling me it could be worse and they are absolutley correct but I am just not comfortable right now. I think I will just buy a few dresses that fit me now and hope for the best that I will be able to get back into my old clothes someday soon.
Sorry, I just felt like whinning a little bit.

I certainly will not disagree with you about Tamoxifen side effects. However, maybe you could get suggestions for different protein drinks. Did you see how much sugar is in the Slim-Fast drinks? There are numerous green and healthy protein drinks you could blend up that might have less sugar. Just a thought...... Walking, walking, walking is critical for me or the pounds add on.

Cidney,
That's a definite downer but I am sure you are beautiful anyway!
I have the reverse effect from Tamoxifen (no haters please:) and did not need to lose at all. My mum drunk Slimfast for years - until her Dr. in Spain told her it was made from sugar alcohols and to cut all sugar, no processed foods and limit wheat products to 1 serving per day.It really worked for her and her sister, in months they were slimmer than they had been in years without really trying. Granted they did not take Tamoxifen....but they were both in their late 50's (I mean postmenopausal NOT old).
She now drinks a drink made from almond milk, chia seeds, 1/2 banana and berries when she wants that sweet taste.
Good Luck!

Hi there, the estrogen drop definitely causes weight gain around the middle. That's why menopausal women gain weight there. The physician I work is having me follow a diet without added sugar, limit fruit to 2 fruit servings per day, no processed food, and 4 -6 servings of veggies and 70G of protein. for me it is about portion control. Its amazing when I started watching portions, how much more food I was eating than I thought I was . A bit eye opening. and thankfully starting to work. I have also started excersing daily.sorry for your struggles. I hope you find something that works for you. Its so difficult and I agree the meds compound it.

Hi,
I'm not going to be one who makes you feel worse by telling you they lost weight on these hormonal meds. I had the same experience with unnecessary weight gain and the anger that comes with it. I quickly put on belly fat with tamox although I was lean and mean pre-chemo.
Then I chemo-paused and was switched to Arimidex. That, plus the effexor I was on to relieve hot flashes brought on by the hormonals/menopause caused me to gain weight. Could not lose no matter what I tried, and believe, me, it wasn't simply Slim-fast and hope. I worked my ass off every day spinning, hiking, running, bikram yoga, walking, weight lifting, and counting every calorie.
Finally got off the effexor and switched to Aromasin b/c the Arimidex caused such joint pain and stiffness. Aromasin is better, less pain and less belly fat. Still have to watch every calorie. Damn.

I also gained 15 lb on Tamoxifen. Now I'm on Aromasin and haven't gained more weight (good news). But I can't lose the weight from Tamo either.
On the other hand, if I do lose weight now, I'd worry it's from bone loss.
