Memory problems on Arimidex or any AIs?

I have been taking Arimidex for about 6 months now, following chemo and a bilateral mastectomy. I noticed myself forgettings things, losing my keys or phone, and some problems with balance. I'm 52 and following chemo was still premenopausal, so my physician removed the ovaries, pushing me into menopause immediately. I recently read that the AI hormonal therapies can result in memory problems. I haven't had any menopausal issues like hot flashes. Does anyone else have memory problems from Arimidex? It's starting to affect my work.

    Hi Katiegrey,

We're sorry you're dealing with this awkward side effect. According to the main Breastcancer.org, memory loss can be a problem associated with Arimdex. See the page on Memory Loss for some great tips on dealing with this effect.

We're sure others will be by shortly with their experiences as well. We hope this helps!

I also experienced worrying cognitive and memory issues on Arimidex and posted about them on this thread https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/78/topic/831862?page=1#idx_19

I've now been on Arimidex for 18 months and, interestingly, just in the last couple of months, these cognitive/memory problems have reduced (though not completely gone) though I have not been doing anything very different. For me, some of the side effects of having little/no oestrogen come and go and I am hoping these ones stay gone - with any luck following a similar pattern to my natural menopause (about 13 years ago - I am 62) when 'brain fog' eventually disappeared after a couple of years.
