Tamoxifen and hair loss?

Hello! I'm on a 5-year course of Tamoxifen to help reduce my risk due to being diagnosed with LCIS last fall. I started Tamoxifen on Christmas eve last year. I've noticed increasing hair loss over the last few months, and it seems to be getting worse. It's not noticeable to others, but my hair is coming out a lot more in the shower and when I comb it. I didn't read hair loss as a side effect of Tamoxifen, but when I asked my Pharmacist about it, he thinks that's the cause. I'm going to check in with my doc next week, but was curious to know if others on Tamoxifen -- particularly those who haven't had other chemo treatments -- are experiencing hair thinning/loss. Thank you!

I definitely noticed losing more hair. My comb and brush filled with hair after just one use. There's hair all over my clothes, on my car seat, etc. It's a miracle I'm not bald yet.

I have definitely experienced hair loss from tamoxifen. I am a long term tamoxifen user (6 years), and I can tell you that my hair loss has decreased over time. If I remember correctly, hair loss was worst during the first year of tamoxifen treatment. Here's hoping your hair loss decreases over time! :)

sassy----- I took tamoxifen for 5 years and have now been taking evista for about 6 years (high risk due to LCIS and mom's ILC); I still lose quite a bit of hair daily (shower, hairbrush), but my hair actually has gotten a lot thicker and wavier over time, I think due to menopause.
