Exercise and well being during chemo and radiation

Why oh why would she feel the need to point out a leg discrepancy for goodness' sake???????
-
love you, katy 😊
-
LBF, You asked about the sleeve, my BS was adamant that I wear mine all through radiation. I would put it on right after each treatment and wear it all day. It never caused a problem or rubbed my skin. Also important to wear during exercise.
-
Katy this is Helen sending her muddy face to make it better.
-
Well, Katy, sounds like she might be kind of out there, too. I'm sorry for your distress.
-
Reminds me of a class I took at work many years ago. We were "taught" how to dress, from earrings, to clothes, etc. We were told to wear our finest for the next class, and we stood in front of the class and students threw out comments--your earrings are too small, the skirt makes you stomach stand out, your sleeves are too short. It was one of the most humiliating experience of my life!
Katy - so sorry she felt a need to point out every little discrepancy of your being, from physical to psychological. Sure is not what you needed.. But from your explanation of it, she was just speaking from the heart and, if we weren't so delicate, it may not seem as tacky.
Anyway, hope you're having a cozy evening with Jack and Tutti and that the sun is shining when you awake.

8/25:
- (radiation #33)
- 1.0 hr T (2.5 MPH avg) + Fitbit steps + stretches
- .5 hr T (2.0 MPH avg)
= 6.25 miles
My celebratory dinner was half an appetizer order of cabbage pakora, chicken tikka masala with rice, 24 oz water, a small chocolate cupcake with strawberry buttercream frosting, and a finger of really good bourbon.
-
Susan,
Congrats on finishing up rads! I feel like we should get a little extra credit for having to go through that treatment during the summer. Sounds like you celebrated in style, cheers to you!
-
Yay for finishing rads ksusan! Cake and really good bourbon sound about right.
-
pboi - how are you doing on your AI? I saw some of your posts on the Arimidex site, but too many posts to keep up with there!
-
Sloth...aww...that pic made me smile!
Katy...hope you're up this morning feeling a bit better.
Sue...that's a good question. I feel like I'm waiting for something to happen...had Lupron 4 weeks ago, arimidex 3 weeks ago, and am little over 2 weeks post rads. Trying to sort out the side effects. I think the Lupron or arimidex is giving me mild headaches. Hot flashes/night sweats are mild and remain unchanged from chemopause. Had prior hip ache but in last few days seems to have returned. I think it's a little early still, I noticed it seems people with more problematic ache/pains had it occur 2-3 months out. I still have a lot of fatigue, but it seems everything causes that!
Edited to add: 5 mi walking yesterday and 3.3 mi today

I have been thinking of you all day, Katy, and sending you love.
I walked 3 miles today and went to my weight-lifting class. I have 13,000 steps so far today.
Best of all, I finished rads today!!! I feel as if I have been released from prison. I celebrated by going out to lunch with my husband and eating a delicious spinach salad with tons of fruit on it. I am going out to dinner friends. Tomorrow my husband and I take off on a brief sailing trip. We will return in time for my appointment with my MO.
-
Bev! How wonderful!!! Congratulations. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎈🎈🎈💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿Your lunch sounded great, out to dinner even better, and best of all, ⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️ with your husband!!!!! Wishing you a happy time.
-
yay for no more rads, sailor! That's awesome!
Today, 45 minutes on the stairmaster, 1 hr belly dancing class, MLD. And I wore my sleeve alllllll day.
-
5 mile walk today. I start rads tomorrow and will wear my sleeve when at home.
-
Okay so I admit I was using the tomato porn as a smokescreen to hide the fact that I'd fallen off the walking wagon. For almost a week. Well, I got back on the sucker today, am and pm, got my 10,000 step goal and 4 miles. I'm still sticking to my healthy eating regimen and plan to keep on walking, no more slacking!!!
-
Welcome back onto the wagon!
8/26:
- 1.25 hr T (2.5 MPH avg)
- Fitbit steps + stretches
= 9.15 miles
I walked to a meeting today and also around the neighborhood this evening. Got some hills in.
-
Welcome back, Sloth! I didn't do crap today - temperature back up in the red zone! Who is it, Katy, who posts something like fall down 7 times, get up 8? Oh, and I ate Mexican food to compound the situation!
-
Ok...who else is missing from our wagon?
Good for you Sloth for getting back on! 😊

all right, all right...I confess...off the wagon...but it was just for a day! My Giants just beat the Cubbies for the first time this year (finally), so I will be off to bed relatively early, and up to walk in the cool of the am! Sleep well, all.

I too, fell off. Didn't even get dressed today. But my, both of those wagons are charming and look very appealing! I will be getting back on too first thing tomorrow morning.
For some reason this reminds me of a short poem. The Red Wheelbarrow, by William Carlos Williams:
So much depends
Upon a red wheelbarrow
Glazed with rainwater
Beside the white chickens

Just wanted to say once again, Kbee, you are an inspiration. Good luck with rads and keep up the good work.
Jen- well done wearing your sleeve. All day. And belly dancing! I know with all the ab work you do you must rock that! Good for you also for joining the gym, rolling with the adversity, and making things work.
Susan- you outdid yourself with over 9 miles today. I believe your best day since this mess started? you also inspire me with your quiet determination.
Good night all. Endorphins will rule tomorrow!
-
You guys crack me up & make me happy!
Since this is an exercise thread I will celebrate 10k steps today. Errands + mall = tired legs
-
Katy,
You earned a pajama day, tomorrow you can pick a wagon and jump on! I recommend Susan's, it's more dependable. And a wheelbarrow is a wagon of sorts. I remember driving along the oregon trail and reading a historic marker that said the majority of settlers that made the trip pushed a wheelbarrow from Missouri to the west coast. Only the most well to do had covered wagons.
Tonight I picked up all the ingredients for savory tomato pie. I'll make it tomorrow. I've got about a dozen big ripe heirloom tomatoes on the vine. If it turns out I'll post pics! Fresh buffalo mozz and Percarino cheeses, not sure how it could go wrong!!
-
Eileen,
10,000 steps on New Boob Eve? Way to go!!!
-
New Boob Eve....ROFLMFAO
And you cannot possibly go wrong with those ingredients, thanks, sloth.
-
sloth, every time I think you can't get funnier, you do. Oh my, are we all gonna party next year or what?
-
So many wagons and wheelbarrows to choose from! I was on the wagon yesterday and walked between 3.5 and 4. Was not actually pushing a wheelbarrow, but carried two bags of groceries for slightly over a mile (Sorry, I know I should be posting that part in the olympic weightlifting thread.).
