queenmomcat, could we feed the spam to the zombies? Or maybe use it to make zombies? Soilent green is PEOPLE!!

I am uncomfortable with bottled water. Cancer risk as well as environmental. They never decompose. I do keep a rotating storage of water in large containers for earthquake preparedness. Otherwise, I use a Britta filter for now and will install a reverse osmosis filter soon in the new house.
I no longer use any plastic storage like Tupperware and I had plenty. I do use glass containers with plastic lids as a compromise. I never heat the food up with the lids on.
I don't use a microwave anymore. It broke and I chose not to replace it.
There are several other things I'd like to change but as Ksusan said, you can't change everything.
-
okay, I had to look up Timothy treadwell and the chicken man song lyrics.
Littleblue stay away from Grizzlies!
You guys are getting deep on me lol!
I think the appropriate priest/priestess term would be Santero or Santera, involving a purification ritual with coconut water. There's that coconut connection again! Katy, we should substitute coconut oil for the Aquaphor, just in case!
-
Fun Santeria fact: Remember Ricky Ricardo's theme song, "Babalu"? Well, Babalu-Aye is a Santeria Orisha of diseases (causing and curing). I am not making this up! I learned about it when I was preparing for a trip to the Dominican Republic.
-
What has happened to this thread? Hahaha. I'm one week post rads, and yesterday started peeling just a tiny bit in my armpit. Maybe large amounts of Aquaphor will help. Now wondering, Ksusan, how many of those tubes it will take to fill the tub? Just kidding, don't actually calculate it!
Anyways...walked 1.5 mi this am, and another 1.5 mi in the pm.

PB we have entered the Twilight Zone! Sometimes it's fun to get away from this crappy disease and get more insight into each other. I love it!
I did post about my daily exercise in there somewhere....
Ksusan, I will never think of Ricky Ricardo the same way again! My husband said he wants to meet my post apocalyptic friend, he didn't know others are out there!
-
I'm currently reading Station Eleven. Hoping to pick up the first collected volume of Wasteland at Powell's soon.
Pboi, assuming the tub holds about 100 gallons, 7,314 tubes. I think you'll need fewer, though, if you're a week post-rads.
-
I still need to see the new mad max. I love post apocalyptic Sci fi. When people ask how I'm doing, I say fine, when the apocalypse comes, all that will be left is myself and the cockroaches and twinkies. Also all you ladies...

Light up the endless night with your radioactive glow-boobs!
8/16:
- 1.0 hr T (2.5 MPH avg)
- Fitbit steps + stretches
= 4.87 miles
-
Nope, flat
. Maybe with our shiny bald heads!
-
This bra will help.
-
Cue choir...ahhhhhhhhhh. if that's the light at the end of the tunnel I'm all over it! Maybe they make beanies as well...
-
You must be talking to me Ksusan, as I'm actually still radioactive, though it's glow boob, singular...lol.

Like comic book heroes, we will use what at first appears to be a tragedy or infirmity as our strength as we fight for justice!
-
littleblue you forgot to include Keith Richards
-
italy..LMFAO you are so right. Maybe he is the chicken man?
-
8/17:
- .5 hr T @ 2.6 MPH avg + stretches
- (radiation #27)
- 1.25 hr T (2.5 MPH avg) + Fitbit steps + stretches
= 5.86 miles

Hi team,
Checking in from a weekend away and I see I've missed some lively discussion! Chicken religion, the apocalypse and radiation-induced superpowers! I had a weekend at a friend's lake cabin where exercise was not on the menu so today it's back in the saddle. Happy Monday!

New to this board, but recognize some names from other boards. Been walking nearly every morning, most of the time 3 miles. Have to get up early to beat the heat and sun. Going to be 107 here today. Also started back to yoga a couple weeks ago, and it feels so good. No where near the level I was before surgery, but at least I'm doing it!! Tomorrow is my birthday and I will be 60, so I think I am doing pretty good. Great that we have this board to motivate each other. My last chemo is Wednesday. Woohoo!! Keep up the good work, ladies!!
-
I've been slacking with the exercise this past week. Radiation fatigue hit me HARD. And it's hot. And I'm making excuses. Still trying to eat healthy, though.
-
Welcome Esmerelda, and Happy 60th! 🎉🎉🎉🎉👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💃💃💃🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
You are doing awesome to walk 3 miles most days through chemo. I'm sure it has been helpful, but also hard to stay motivated some days. My hat is off to you!!!
-
I just finished my first yoga class. Amazingly just down the street from me and free. A very nice instructor, and it was mostly my age or older, and she used the chair liberally. So it's a good fit for me physically.
For some reason I cried during the class. Tried to disguise it as a runny nose. Everybody knew. But they were all very nice, very supportive.
And I walked home, up the hill, and it was the better part of a mile! So I'll add a little evening walk tonight and maybe hit one of my goals today!
-
Welcome, Esmerelda, and good stuff, Katy!
-
Yes, Katy, that sounds great, hope they were tears of joy. Sounds like the class is perfect for you.
-
Finally ditched the boot today. I am very happy. I walked 4.3 miles and ran (using the term loosely here) 1. I need to build back slowly.
-
Kbee! Yay! I know you hated that thing and it came at a bad time. Do build slowly please....but congrats!
-
Katy...happy to see you're adding yoga to your exercise regimen.
Whitney...don't be too hard on yourself. This radiation fatigue has hit me HARD too! I'm a little over one week out, and for me it seemed to get worse post rads! I hope that won't be the case for you. Hang in there!

First, I just want to say how much I enjoy the humor in this group.
Katy, good work on the yoga and walking!
I didn't exercise much over the weekend but I have a very good excuse. We went sailing. We dropped the anchor in a very peaceful cove, saw a beautiful sunset, watched for meteors (we each saw one) and forgot about breast cancer for a while.
Today I am back to walking 3 miles and lifting light weights for an hour. It is hard, though, the fatigue is getting worse.
-
I step away for one lousy little evening and come back to find armageddon on these boards! But I'm glad to hear everyone is well prepared for the end times.
We have a new rule here: no serious exercise while the temperature is over 90. Which it is. Have done some miscellaneous errands but nothing over a mile.
So happy to hear your boot is an ex-boot, Kbeee. Katy, I'm sure all the best people cry at yoga. Right? Right.
-
Welcome Esmerelda and Happy Birthday! When is your surgery?
Katy: I am so glad you found a class so close and free to boot!
Karen: 4 miles is amazing for just having a boot removed!
I did Jazzercise today. Can't do it tomorrow and not sure when I can go back since deportation day is tomorrow.
