cellulitis ;(

i am recovering from my second bout of cellulitis. It came on so fast, went to the doctor thinking it might be this, a few hours later i was admitted to hospital. i don't understand this condition, and will do what ever it takes to prevent it from ever happening again. would you share your experiences and suggestions with me please?

    Living,

    I had a very bad attack of what was called 'atypical cellulitis' very red patches, numerous patches - Hence atypical . Mine seemed to come on post gynae op. I was  told there was no connection, but I do wonder. i felt very unwell and got admitted to hospital for 6 days intravenous antibiotics. 

    I was told that a bad attack, indicates that we are more likely to get other repeated  bad episodes. But mine was a year  ago, but nothing since then. 

    Being vigilant about treating  cuts and breaks in the  skin is essential. Abx cream and plasters, to be  used  immediately. 

    Also  daily  care of the arm 'dry brushing' to ensure  lymph fluid does not pool and become  a reservoir  for bacteria to proliferate. have  you been shown this  technique?

    Also, have you been advised to wear a sleeve?

    I was diagnosed with cellulitis after my sentinel lymph node biopsy and 5 of my 6 rounds of neoadjuvant AC. Like you, mine came on suddenly. I was extremely weak and feeling very hot. My skin on the left side of my chest and under my arm was red and very warm. I went to the oncologist about it thinking it might be chemo related only to be told it was cellulitis. I was given IV antibiotics in his chemo room, then sent home with oral antibiotics after that. It cleared up. Very scary stuff. I've never had it come back fortunately.
