Hi Ladies-just checking in & so happy that many of you are done or finishing up with chemo. Littleblue-congrats on getting your port out!! Mine will be in for at least another six months while I continue on Herceptin (which by the way, I'm tolerating WONDERFULLY!!- no SE's except for a headache that day).
OK here's the truth-this month I've really been feeling so damn good and back to my old self. Going places, vacationing and spending time getting my son ready to leave for college at the end of the month. HOWEVER, I'm scheduled to get my expanders out and the implants in on Thursday. Let me tell you... the anxiety came rushing back again. Haven't been sleeping well and the stupid "worrying" is back with all the "crazy thoughts" (i.e. how long will the Herceptin work this time???; what will the next PET scan show?, etc.). DAMN!! I was doing so well and then this upcoming surgery just rocked my world (when in fact, I should be thrilled b/c now I'm done with chemo and the surgical crap-go figure!).
Anyway, I just went to the one place where I know I would let people know how I'm feeling with no judgment.
Love to you all!!
Fran

Need to catch up on posts.....but,
Big congrats Steph!!! Beautiful sign, awesome shirt!
Thanks Lynne for the sweet words! I sure as hell dont feel feminine. I suppose I could pass for a pre teen being that i have a small head, and Im only 4'11.
Addie, I agree with Lynne...unless its your preference, those damn docs shouldn't be so stingy with the meds. I dont take Ativan every night, but I don't get full night's rest without it right now. It sucks.
Sitting in the chair! I know some of you are joining me. Kbee, I think this is your last one?!
I only have 2 left after today, but, Im taking next week off to fly out to MN for a family reunion. You ladies always put a smile on my face and have really helped me get through this. Thank you for being here!
-
Fran, glad you're tolerating the H well, and hope you'll settle into the next phase of treatment without too much stress.
-
Yea!!!! Shari and Karen. I hope your final infusion celebrations are punctuated by NO side effects!!!!!
-
Well no Taxol for me today...the MO isn't in until Friday and the nurses want me to see her first since my hands got worse this week. I'm getting Herceptin now. Sooo another week delay. Shoot!!!
-
susan - they're BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
-
-
So, I haven't been on the site in almost a week and have a ton of catching up to do.
Congrats to everyone who has finished chemo
Good thoughts to all those suffering with side affects...
-
Gingerchi, sorry for the delay. You have firefighters in the group. The April chemosabes leave no one behind. We're here to support each other for the long haul!
Renee, I hope the surgery goes well and the anxiety eases. The post chemo period is hard emotionally.
Thanks for all the good wishes. Love the song!
It's a very happy day! I got balloons, flowers, cupcakes, and a cake from friends. I need to eat up while Ican still taste 😁
-
Yay Karen! Yay Shari! Jen - you are so right, it is a prison, and you feel like Brooks Hatlen getting released from Shawshank - not quite sure what to make of your freedom (at first).
Karen, I'm impressed by all the food and decorations - it's so nice that your center celebrates. Mine was so bleh. One time I brought some Oh Henry Bars (home-made oatmeal base with chocolate/peanutbutter topping), and they weren't even acknowledged. Definitely got the feeling that it was frowned upon.
So, I broke down and called MO office about the edema - still waiting for a call back. When I met with MO before I started chemo, she made it sound like they are there 24/7 waiting for your call. Thank goodness I haven't really needed it.

Fran - great to "see" you - even if it is to share some anxiety! I totally get how the upcoming surgery could make you wig out. I think we all will have those moments in the next year, but I would expect that the time in between them will get longer and longer. I hope the feeling of "normal" returns to you quickly.

Lynne, We have no bell, my coworkers gave me the balloons and i made treats. Friends showed up with flowers and cake, so I made sure the cake was in an area where all patients could get some. People have shared donuts and other treats on various occasions. The nurses are good with it. I did get a chemo completion certificate signed by the nurses.
-
oh my goodness...I get so confused with March and April sisters! CONGRATULATIONS TO KAREN , ALISON, SHARI ... Way to Go!
And to any one I missed, and to all who are almost there...WOOHOOOOOO
