Yes near kings island. It's about an hour. Used to go every few months when had to get the mini serviced. Had to upgrade with 2nd child. It's on my way to my sisters so twice a year? Easter and Halloween.
If I lived closer I would try a new fruit or veg every week. Even the kids are fascinated, especially by the 800lb cheese hanging from the ceiling.
Can't wait to get home and get a pedicure. Managed to get my hair cut with the kids here but wouldn't try it with them unless I wanted three of them! Yes even the boy would think it's fun to get a pedicure. What's not to love?. Splish, splash, splosh.

Rose- your descriptions of the cicadas and the fireflies brought me right back to my childhood growing up on the east coast. I used to love having the windows open at night and listening to the cicada's song. Glad you got out to enjoy some fresh air today.
Susan- Badger is on the Daily Exercise thread. Last post was last week I think?

Spookie--grandma's house in PA was fireflies, at my aunt's in Arkansas it was lightnin' bugs.
Queenie--we don't get the cicadas and fireflies in California where I live. I actually miss them but if I had to listen to them all the time they just might make me insane, too.
Susan--the chemo flashes are the worst! I've taken to leaving a wet wash cloth on a plate next to my bed so I slap it on my bald head when one comes on.
Rose--I called my grandma Mamaw, too. How funny is that!
Debi--my dad is from a little town west of York called Thomasville but most of my ancestors are from the Gettysburg/Chambersburg area. Looong line of Pennsylvania Dutch.
Jazzy--my windows are open and I'm listening to my neighbor's progressive rock/jazz band. Not as good as it sounds--the guitarist is playing more a Steely Dan style while the keyboardist is more like Ray Manzarek, the singer Minnie Ripperton but she only sings at that high pitch glass shattering level and the drummer is banging on the skins like Dave Grohl...

Marlana, I'm very familiar with the Pennsylvania Dutch, I married one. I'm sure you will totally understand when I say that I love him to pieces, but he can be a bit "gretzy" at times. Very inventive too. When he's working around the house and needs a tool for a special purpose he makes one. He thinks he's so clever, like no one thought of it before, then I say "there's this big store called Lowe's where you can buy one of those", lol.

Marlanab- I love Steely Dan but not outside at night coming through the window! I saw Steely Dan a couple weeks ago in concert here. It was awesome.
Now I have "Loving You" by Minnie Ripperton in my head as I am heading to bed. LOL!

Sas, thanks for the idea of asking DGS those questions. Will definitely ask him before he leaves and will let you know his answers. They should be interesting. Will have to do it each time he comes to see how they change.
My favorite tea was Lipton's pure beauty. I got it back in 2007 when I went to Japan to see DGS when he was born. I stocked up on it and when I ran low I sent an e-mail to Lipton inquiring about it and was told it was for their Asian market and there were no plans to bring it stateside. It was a subtle blend of black tea, rosehip and orange peel. Looked for it in 2010 when I went to see DGD when she was born and couldn't find it. I looked high and low for a year and gave up on finding it and OMG, I just did a google search and found it on a Japanese web site. Hope to get some. Yummmm
Thank you for the summer memories. I just had a trip down memory lane: catching lightening bugs, listening to cicadas, going to my grandmother's farm house in Vt. and her making pies with whatever fruit my brother and I picked, digging for worm to go fishing. Ahh, thank you ladies. I'm refreshed.

Frenchfry, I love True Lies! One of my favorite movies, I watch it every time it comes on.
I'm an Earl Grey fan myself. I like it with honey and canned milk. Funny, I know. When I was in Scotland decades ago every hotel room had a hot pot and Earl Grey tea bags, and Walker's biscuits. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
DH took me for a ride in his snazzy new (used) car. It's bright red. Not sure it really suits him but he loves the bells and whistles. -
Mags....mmmmm. Earl Frey and Walker's biscuits. There's nothing better after a long day of sightseeing than a kettle for a cuppa and a biscuit.
Jazzy--I have had Weezer's "Buddy Holly" in my head for weeks since that Honda commercial came out. Just when I think it's gone from my head, that jingle pops up on the tv. Oo wee oo I look just like Buddy Holly...uh oh and you're Mary Tyler Moore🎶

It's 3:45, been up for an hour. Having some Nighty-night. On of the first times I had it, I was nursing DS. Put him out like a light. Then I had to stay up and watch him. Never did that again. However he did get the Easy tea. for years.
Cicidas and frogs are in my head. Particularly, on the right tonight. Loved all those memories. It was a treat to be able to stay out after dark and catch them. Never thought about releasing them in side. That would be so much fun to go to sleep by.
Rosie could your screechy birds be Mocking birds. They are so noisey. When I first moved here I called the cops on this alarm going off behind us. They couldn't find it. The next day I heard it again. A neighbor told me it was a Mocking bird. Those little frogs used to be everywhere. No gone from here. Beautiful evening you had.

Kathy, It always surprised me what Ds would say. The first time I did it was the biggest surprise. I guess that's why I kept up with it.
MY nephew and his wife sent me two coloring books and crayons for my birthday. Let's see what I do.

Sitting here having my morning cup of get up and go! My poor furbaby Jackson got woke up by thunderboomers coming through this morning. Poor baby had to go out and do his business in the storm. Quickest bathroom call for that kid in history!!!!!!!!!!!! Had a not so great night again. Hubby had dental work done yesterday and so he was somewhat miserable last night.
Marlana- My hubby and I go to Gettysburg at least once a year. We both love history and are Civil War buffs. Been working on my ancestry and I found out that on my dad's side his great-grandfather's side was from Lancaster County in PA.

If you don't mind I am not diagnosed but waiting for tests. I have a few questions, any of you get certified letters from your hospital/radiologist after your mammogram and ultrasound? (even though he already told me the findings the day of). Also did anyone of you have a lump and than amorphous microcalcifications near it? Just worried and trying to figure out what my chances are of having cancer. Sorry can't sleep sorry for being a pain, if not allowed please let me know. Thanks

Good Morning Boyd! Don't be afraid... We've all been where you are... and we know what it feels like... So just relax, and wait to see what they say.
Ask for copies of your tests, and write down your questions! I didn't get any letter through the mail, about anything... Try and choose a team, or hospital that you like, that will "talk" to you, and answer your questions...
Either you will, or won't have breast cancer.... My friend just went in for her biopsy, and was so afraid... Tests came back, and the "spot" was benign... So see? It could be anything... But we are always here if you just want to talk.....
Are you kidding? Everyone is welcome here.... Except we might have to vote.... Wait... okay, we voted, and you can stay.
Hah! Damnit girls, I just spent 1/2 hour on a long post, and it went out in a flash! WTH happened? I was being overly clever this morning... and gone in an instant....

Rough night last night. Why are my worse se's on week 2 post chemo? I really thought I would be past most of the se's by day 8? Tired. Taking immodium and eating mashed potatoes today. I hope things pick up.
Sorry I whine here but i whine to nobody. Everyomne around me thinks I am super woman. So much so I have to ask my husband to do something when I really need help.
Just cannot wait to be done with Taxotere. Being Stage 4 , I know I am not done with the chemos, but really looking forward to be like day 20 post my last Taxotere.

Boyd- you are welcome to post here and ask questions. The only time I have gotten letters in the mail is usually when there is nothing of concern. Everything else, even if you have a biopsy for something that turns out to be benign, has resulted in a phone call. If you are not feeling sure about the results and want more review of your case, you can always go get a second opinion. Wishing you the best, and let us know how else we can help you?
Frey- sorry you are not feeling well with this round of chemo. And you don't have to be strong for everyone else around you either, it puts too much pressure on you to be up for others when you cannot. Ask for help, say no to the things you cannot do. Getting through bc treatment requires everything you have got sister. You take care of you. Wishing you better days going forward. Hugs sister.

Oh Frey. I sympathize. I only had 1 Taxotere. Had severe allergic reaction to it. Hope it goes well and is over soon.

Frenchfrye, from a nurses point of view. We never saw much of patients after infusions. You may have b/c of where you were. I basically, was in surgical areas, but did float to the medical unit. Still in a medical unit, we are in an out. Seeing the whole picture didn't happen. I did a couple of years of homecare and never had a chemo patient
LMG I haven't used my Nighty night tea in years. Disappointed in flavor, I remember it as being wonderfully fragrant. But my sniffer hasn't worked in years and years. I forgot I had it, till I went looking in the tea cupboard. It did however knock me out.

Chevy, I think the internet gremlins just like to play with our memory's by stealing our thoughts. How is ten going? Gypsy gives you a perfectly logical reason to wait for 10.1 and you do the direct opposite. I could tell you weren't going to wait.
Boyd, perhaps someone will answer. Not that they wouldn't be nice and answer. Just not sure if we have your answer. Like Chevy said, at this point try to be patient. I know easier said then done. It's like sitting on a fireant nest.
Marley, got it a strong dark tea, right? You've called me endearingly Nurse Ratched before. Took me a few to catch on that you were talking about your Mom. Tell her I agree heartily, in the old ways. The only one that caused a problem was a garlic poultice one time. Not good. Too strong. Killed the bug, but left an ugly scar. With the tub bath did you use vinegar? Epsom salts are great too, but for my chemo and other issue post RAI Epsom salts didn't work. I was surprised.
Dilute chlorine baths work well when they're is a bacteria or fungus. 1-2 cups in a tub of water. A very good pediatric study was published in 2009. The study kids all had severe eczema or psoriasis. They had all kinds of secondary serious skin infections. MRSA was a common bug. They're was a huge outcry at first, until it was explained the ratio was equivalent to community pool. It was/is a landmark study. Worked when I had the skin issue after chemo and a scalp infection.

Got the call re: Bone density. Doc's all concerned DX:SEVERE osteopenia. I pulled out the 2011(lost the 2013) density study
2011 2015
lumbar Tscores 1.3 1.9
hip Tscores 2.0 2.3
Not great, but every things relative when placed in perspective. Biggest decrease was while on the AI's 2009 to 2011. Stable over 4 years from 2011 to 2015 is good. No biphosphanate drugs. May think about them now since everything has calmed down.

French fry, I hated taxotere , sympathize with you girlfriend. Did some damage to my left lung. 7 months post, I think it's inflating better now . It's a tuffy. Best of luck and prayers your way to get through that one. I love the one I am on now. Hope I can stay on it for a long time.only have one bad week out of 4. That's great for chemoLand

I had 6 Taxotere treatments, one every three weeks. Can we say I was glad when it was over. Never felt so icky in my life as I did then!
