It's one of my favorite spots. This year is marking 100 years.

Just beautiful.

wow, you did get some great colors..love that butterfly
we had rain this past weekend, gasp, most rain we have had in July in almost a hundred years..an inch..
at any rate it knocked my monarch caterpillars off the milk weed, so today I went out looking for them, I only found 2 and returned them to the plants. Then along came a butterfly, I like to think looking for the babies...lol..
-
Thanks Lisa. Love your butterfly too. When I first read your post I was in a hurry and I thought you had picked up butterflies and put them back on the plant. I am thinking wow how did you manage that. It pays to read carefully! How is your arm doing? This has been a strange summer of detours in my photography but hope to get out there more soon. Take care.

Here are more pics from my garden.
-
I just love your garden. Thanks for sharing!
I am just trying to take a rest, but this butterfly just flew past my dirty window and stopped to check me out after she chased away a hummingbird. .
My arm is a problem. I had an appointment with my liver Doctor and he said that I had a 10 % chance of dying with the surgery the trauma orthopedic surgeon wants to do with putting a rod down my humerus
This is because the treatments I had for my breast cancer fried my liver so I have cirrhosis.
So my latest xrays showed the fracture wasn't healing. So the bone doctor says he can wait to see if anything could happen in the next 2 months. I have to wear my brace, boo, all the time except showering. And use.my bone stimulator 3 hours a day.
-
Thanks Lisa. Your butterfly is a beauty. Great pic. I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I will pray for a miracle for the healing of this fracture in the next couple of months. I guess it is a good thing you had already ditched your heavy camera with lens for the Canon. It is obviously light enough that you can still take great pics. You are awesome. Just keep taking great pictures and keep your spirits up. I know this is a major bummer for you. Hang in there. Hopefully it will start healing.

Thanks ❤

Got this one tonight with the wonders of PSE.

Ladies, may I join in? It only just occurred to me that there might be a group of photography lovers here.
Photography has been my hobby since I got my first camera at a very young age. Over the last 10 years I have really tried to up my game, especially with sports action photos (I have a college soccer athlete). I really love photographing nature and animals though, and I love playing with lighting and effects. Your blue moon photos are awesome. I tried to go out last night with DH to see if I could get some shots but too many clouds. Guess I'll have to wait 2-3 years for the next blue moon.

While I'm home recovering, I've been stalking our Egret. He won't yet let me get close enough to get really good pixs even with my zoom lens but he let me get a little closer this afternoon. We had a Heron earlier this summer. The heron let me get much closer. I will just have to keep at it.

Hi Scottiemom: Love the heron and egret photos. I can relate to not being able to get too close. It seems if I'm just walking they stay put, but as soon as I get the camera focused on them, off they go. Keep photographing and sharing your images here.
-
Scottie, you got some great shots..
-
Nice pics Scottiemom.
I got these while visiting my mom last week. I got this at a nature center.
-
bandwoman, what a lovely summer garden. Sadly, the AZ summer sun fries most flowers except for a few petunias, black eyed susans, and a few others. I'll share when I get my camera out.
-
Thank you Magiclight. You have something in AZ that I would love to photograph and that is the red rocks which we don't have here in Illinois.
-
Definitely some beautiful red rocks in Arizona
-
Gorgeous pic of the red rocks. I enjoy this PBS show of the Red Rocks put to music. I am a retired band director and musician but due to a neck surgery I can't perform anymore so my new passion for photography is sort of filling that void. I haven't had much of a chance to travel but I really want to go out west to shoot the red rocks sometime. Thanks for sharing that pic.

bandwoman . . .lovely pix. We used to have hummingbirds come every year and keep the feeder out front. Also planted lots of butterfly bushes and other flowers that attract them. None showed up this year. 😕

Magic, I think I took a photo from the same spot in Sedona..small world
I am getting ready for our Parade of Tall Ships next month..can't wait.
I took these last year
-
SoCal: What a great collage of tall ships. I lived in SD for a long time and miss the ocean and oceanfront activities. Enjoy the upcoming tall ship parade and of course post your photos.
-
SoCal. . .LOVE the tall ships photos. I saw them in Charleston once but did not have the cameras that I have now. I will have to add that back to my photography bucket list. My next big adventure is the Okefenokee Swamp at Thanksgiving. We are staying in a cottage at the park for 4 nights so I can hike and photograph to my heart's content.
MagicLight beautiful pix. I love the ones where you can get the reflection in the water. Haven't been to Arizona in years. My grandparents used to live there and Dd and I did the Grand Classroom tour when she ws in 7th grade, so some years back. I got my first DSLR for that trip.
I put this collage together for dd's class when we returned. I wish I had some pix's like your's MagicLight.

Scottie: I need to take another look at my pics and try to make a collage. Have not done that in ages. Like you I love water reflections and even bought a new filter so that I could slow down water movement. I like to create abstract images.
-
Scottie: P.S. just looked up Okefenokee swamp. What a great place to photograph and relax surrounded by lush beauty -- your Thanksgiving trip there sounds great. Obviously, I've not been there but it does look like it is worth a trip in the future.
