I volunteered to made 2 pies for a charity bake sale years ago. I had the bottom crusts in the pie pans & was letting them rest on the kitchen table before putting the filling in and trimming the crust. I came back in the kitchen and finished the pies - and then realized I didn't trim the overhanging crust.... Our Siberian Husky, Chena, had neatly "trimmed" the crust on both pies. There was no time to make more pies and I figured baking had "sanitized" them. They were auctioned off for $14 apiece - I never told anyone till now....

Mostlymom, Cooks must keep their secrets to themselves. Remember Julia Child dropping her glasses into the food and fishing them out?
-
Loverly -- Chevy can bring it! I've read the ENTIRE works of William Shakespeare and 72 of the 100 "Time 100 Best Books of All Time". Not to mention scoring a 5 on the AP English exam with a stunning essay on the Christ-like symbolism of Tom Joad in Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath."
Chevy-- I like to say that I majored in Criminology and my first minor was in Comparative Religion but my second minor was Beer. I followed my sister's rule that no matter how late I stayed out and regardless of any hangover, I made it to class--on occasion with my shirt on inside-out. I will also admit that I had to have my teeth brushed and pajamas put on by none other than future UFC fighter Chuck Liddell, who was my then BF's roommate, after getting the most drunk that I have ever been. Even the guy that did my background investigation said that he would have wanted to party with me. My college roommates and I used to have parties with crazy themes like "The Meat and Vodka Party" to celebrate the fall of the Soviet Union or we did things like build a giant wall of sand at the beach in San Luis Obispo while drinking German beer, just to knock it down again in celebration of the Berlin wall coming down in 1989.
Spookie--scary @ the bombs at the dog park. The little jerks should be sent to Guantanamo just to scare the bejeezus out of them.
Jazzy -- those look great! I use Martha Stewart's recipe but we'll just say that she's not the most health-conscious of cooks.
Rose, Wren and Mostly -- I once made 2 turkeys and 4 turkey breasts for a charity Thanksgiving dinner. I was letting them cool while I took a shower and when I came back, I had 2 turkeys, 2 turkey breasts and a huge pile of bones--luckily the beast left the breast bones completely intact without eating any of those. He's been gone for about 5 years now but he's the reason that I had to baby lock my pantry after he ate 5 pounds of raw potatoes. One would think he would have learned not to counter surf after having to have vomiting induced when he chewed on a nearly brand new bottle of albuterol pills and then getting shot full of barbiturates but NOOOOO....he went on to eat 4 whole peaches, including the pits. Luckily he was a pretty big dog and was able to pass the pits but it couldn't have been comfortable. The rescue I have now is the reason I have a baby lock on the refrigerator--he's a connoisseur of eggs and anything on the bottom shelf of the fridge. Sometimes smart dogs aren't such a good thing.
Safe travels to everyone in the next couple of days.

Good early morning all. Finally got a chance to catch up on everyone.
All is well here. I am having an awesome time with sister and family. She is of course taken over the household duties. Fine with me. My great niece who is almost 4 had been giving me some great snuggles, kisses and hugs. Makes me think back when my boys were that age. Awww. Great times indeed.
Hugs all around
Hootie hoo
-
Patty- nice to have a visit from your sister and also someone to step in and help too.
Marlanb- I hope you are recovering and feeling stronger as you prepare to go into your next round.

Florida gals, ( maybe I will talk that way from now on....lol). Just joshing...
SAS ans spooks, have a great lunch.
Sas take pics when blondiex gets there. We love to see are bc sisters together . Makes me want to jump on a plane

Mom has Alzheimer's , so lots of figuring out to do. My brother and I aren't on the same page yet. I want her safe and comfy and as happy as we can make her. This will be the 4th time I have gone through this with others. I know how to do it as smooth as possible, but my brother never moved out, so he is still home with mom. He does work, that's where I have safety concerns. I want her to move in with me for now, still very functional, but extremely confused at times. My brother says she won't like moving out of her house. I'm not stupid, I know that, but we don't always have lots of options, we need to keep her safe. I do hair out of the house so I am home when I'm working. Wish me luck

Happy to hear you are having fun pattyp
Food looks good jazz

Have a great day all

-
Morning Owlies, first positive of the day I'm up on time and ready to go
. The up time was somewhere 5 am. Oh well, better than oversleeping. Sunny and hot already. Just hoping they're won't be any scenic diversions todayDs son got notice that his federal 11th district case where the lower court was upheld.(he won, on written brief, didn't have to do oral), other side has appealed to federal supreme court. He'll have to write a brief. The case will likely will be denied a review. The other lawyer does have the right to do this. Allot of work. Well, he'll learn something.

Have fun with Blondie! tke pictures.
Marlana, one year back in Sacto my dogs had diarrhea. We had a delicious plum tree with yellow plums. We would gorge on these things maybe 2-3 a day. Well I went out to investigate the pile of diarrhea... counted 12 pits! No animal eating 12 little plums wouldn't get the runs! After that we had to rake up all the fallen fruit and keep it up. Stupid dog would eat the fruit. My border collie Cricket used to pull cherry tomatoes off very gingerly and eat them! We had to fence in our raised beds.
Then that same dog (Bob) got up on the counter (tall dog 75pounds, setter dobie shepard mix) and snatched a block of cheese. He headed under the table. I followed. He snarled and growled. My DH was like you are gonna get bit. I yelled only once. I smacked him hard, cheese dropped and he rolled over exposing his belly. "Me alpha... you underling".. house rules was the leson learned. He was a very well trained dog, but had a food thing that wouldn't quit and prey drive that was over the top. You have to maintain alpha status or it's over - the dog rules the house.

Can't wait to hear about Blondie's arrival in FL today and party time with Spookie and Sassy!
-
Me neither. Sad to think Blondie has never eaten quiche. We make it all the time. My 14 year old loves making spinch quiche and acts like it was manna from heaven! They will argue over who gets the last slice- never any left - 2 days poof gone. Yours looked so yummy!
-
Rose- I think Blondie needs to put quiche on her bucket list, don't you?
-
-
Loveroflife- LOL! I have seen that one before.
The insurance adjuster was just here and we talked about what might have to happen to get the car fixed. I should know by tomorrow what they think needs to happen/their estimate. Taking it in to the auto body shop tomorrow for their inspection. I am heading into a bunch of medical apts Friday through next Tuesday including my 6 month mammo, and BS follow up so perhaps the week after. Ha, when it rains it pours, right? Need to get all this done before we begin the new contract work!
-
Jazzygirl: you scared me for a moment there--health insurance companies have adjusters? But then I read the rest of the entry, phew!

A really bad pic of Sas and Blondie

Blondie and meBlondies plane got in early, I was still in my Jammie's when she called. Sas was much closer, and it all worked out. Including my little detour. DD told me to use Google, not Siri for directions. Ok. But it kept telling me to go west on this road which goes straight to Tampa. Which is EAST from me.
So we all had a nice lunch, lots of yakking and laughs.
Then Blondies DSD was late leaving, which caused Blondie to worry about her batteries, the Cheesecake Factory was wonderful about getting her recharged.
Sas, I'm sorry about your pic being blurry, should have checked there. Can I post one of the 3 of us together?
-
-
That is what I like to see! Our Blondie smiling! So glad she made it to Florida! Party on ladies! Cheesecake Factory rocks....
Queen- I had a minor hit and run with my car last weekend. I was not in the car so no injury to me, just a broken headlight and slight bend to the bumper around the light. Cars can be fixed, just a hassle.
-
She was happy to be in FL and a/c.. -

You guys look GREAT! How FUN you get to be together!
-
yeah, when you coming back to Orlando?
You're gonna laugh. My DD is in Ft Collins for the week. Was a bit chilly there this morning!!! 45!!!!! She had to buy jackets for them. The lady at the boys daycare laughed. Hey, that's our winter temps, it's about 92 here now. Brrrrr
-
Reporting in Owlies, Blondie was a half hour early. I only had one scenic diversion that a very nice gentleman said " I'll just take you there, follow me". TIA is a typical airport. Lots of construction and colored signs. Blondie and boys were at the door. Her avatar pic doesn't do her justice at all.
Off to TooJay's nice lunch. First pic, I told Spookie it could be used for extortion. I looked fat. Blondie "who said that?" Me. DS was already off to explore. We visited while waiting for DsD to arrive. Then went in to do some battery charging and have a cold drink. Cheesecake factory was very nice about helping us with a plug. Blondie's DS wasn't impressed with the heat.
We got a pic at Cheesecake Factory. Spookie will probably be posting soon. I love these visits.
Blondie have a great visit
Great meeting you. Loved DsD's face when she saw DGS. You pulled off a great surprise.Spookie Shats did fine. She pulled my nightgown down on the floor. Bandage still in place. Pills didn't arrive, need to stay till tomorrow.
Spookie there you are ......NOPE
-
Waiting for the 3 musketeers pic,Ms. Spookie.....she must be napping after all the fun.
-
Sas scroll back, I did post some. Can I post one of the 3 of us?
Yes Lovey, I'm pooped out.
Yay Schatzi. Spookie was NOT happy about me being gone most of the day, and told me so by trying to chew my hands off.
