Frey - Big Hugs from here. Chanting for you as I type "kill those cancer buggers". Rant all you want.
One thing the floods earlier did for us is give many little green tree frogs. People driving by if they knew what I was doing would think I was nutso. I have 5 that cluster around my back porchlight and 4-5 others that hide in the porch overhang. I've been lucky to get maybe one frog in the past few years. Am sure they are down in the creek but in years b4 the drought they have been in my yard. I used to have a bunch of toads that were trained to sit on the storm shelter under the arc light to eat bugs. The very worst years of the drought 2011 or so killed most of those off - or they ran for the creek. I think I may have a new one who has found the motherlode out there.
Very cute video Chevy.

Hi Owlies. I wrote a post early today, but must have screwed up submission. I extolled the virtues and foibles of DBF. Then I went off too work. I hate to sound like Sheldon, but..............groundbreaking stuff
Kayb an old friend, is working there too. The stuff is flying fast. AND it only passingly has to do with shit. Soory couldn't change it to poop. It was a double entendre. Shit applied, poop didn't. Then I took a swim and came in and dutifully took my probiotic. I then feed my probiotic with Hershey's chocolate, beer, and cheese which all support the health of my flora. Really. Sugar, yeast, and what is it casein(?). I'm fermenting something. Brain?
There we go, a solution to our Dear Rosie's not liking the word "sorry", we can substitute "Soory". Then she will know it's us and we mean it.
Soory Dear Rosie that it's so bad. I wish you could go to your dear cabin. Away from all the trouble. It is such a beautiful peaceful place.
Littlegoats, the frogs, the little green ones. They make such a big nose for such a little creature. Haven't seen one here in years. Thee forest used to cover this area. The little green frogs were here when we moved here. Every year they're were fewer and fewer.. Now the noises of the night. crickets, and buzzing flies , and frogs are just in my head. Tinnitus. Oh Vey. it's such a bother. Silence would be so nice.
Chevy thanks for the links always to nice happy things....... Love what you are doing with the house.
DBF home BBL Hugs sassy

I even bought probiotics today. I also have fed mine with 3 Oreo cookies, some Triscuits with chicken salad and some watermelon. Having green chai iced tea with sugar/stevia. How does probiotics mix with green tea?
What kind are you using Sassy? I got "Accuflora" made by the Church and Dwight Co. Knew that sounded familiar - Arm&Hammer Co. plus many other unusual things. Now this was local grocery, I didn't go cheapest but not most expensive by any means. Might need to check out the big health food store in town next week.
I have this grandpa toad that catches these enormous flying beetles. No idea how he swallows them. Went to wash 2 dog towels left on back porch bench. Knew something had put some hay in them a couple of weeks ago but thought it (bird) had changed her mind. Nooo little wren has made a nest way in the back of the 2 nestled towels. I hope she came back, I draped the top towel back where it was. Darn it has to be hot under there but it is on the east side of the house. Not really liking the idea of baby birds out there, attract wild stuff racoony like but no way would I do anything to them. I have to keep discouraging swallows from make a mud nest on my porch. That's different, they can move on somewhere else.
June 26-28 is the anniversary of the highest temperatures ever recorded in DFW 113 degrees. 1980. I was riding the city bus to my job in medical records. DH and I had agreed to do this when we moved from Garland to Ft Worth. Geesh. I waited about 40 minutes to catch another bus that dropped me around the corner from the house rather than the earlier one where I had to walk about 4 blocks uphill home.

I don't have a CLUE what she is talking about.... I mean I try, but I think she talks in code.....
About your frogs & things.... Sheri has a rain-barrel, and in the little drip pan, she found a bunch of little tad-poles! Of all things! So this is what she did... She scooped up as many as she could, and put them in a pail, and drove down to the lake in the golf course, and released them! Can you believe this? And she has done this 3 times now.... Whenever you leave standing water in anything, little "things" think that is a lovely breeding place, and lay their eggs, or whatever it is they do!
ONE time, we were fishing up in the mountains, and she found a little black frog, and was carrying him in her hand, trying to find a can or something, to bring him home.... But it "squeaked" and she went running down the hill to put him back in the lake! I SWEAR she is still the same... She has I lost track of how many cats that call her place home, plus 2 dogs, and what was that caterpillar that turned into some fruit butterfly? She watched him come out of his cocoon, and "dry his wings" and let him GO!...... And he ate up her Lemon bush! Well not all of it.
-
Oh Dear Chevy, I don't talk in code, but I can be off in a different world. I was so concentrated for so many hours today. I just had to blow off some steam. ADD and OCD is an odd combination. My counselor and I laugh about it often. I just had to be ridiculous for a bit. kind of in the vein of Dr. Zeus and the guy that did the headless horseman flick with Johnny Depp. -
It's nice to hear the critter stories.. we share this planet and the more room and consideration we give to our fellow "roommates" on the path - the better we will all be. That includes, birds, frogs and critters. I remember giving out a hollar "STOP!!!" as we went over a baby bird that was in the middle of the road. My husband gave me the "what are you going to do look?" I told him move it off the hot tar and into the brush so it can die in peace with it's parents who were on the side of the road shrieking. DH hung his head in disgust. I got out retrieved the baby bird and laid it in the grass in the shade under the bush. It would most likely die but not terrified and hot from the road. I have done this more times then I can count. Or taken it to the vet.. or rescue places. Must be genetic because my cousins, Aunt, Grandmother, Mother.. all the same. If you can save it.. make an effort. Good karma. I even let a rat (who had it's leg stuck in a trap) go. I reached down to release the bar and the poor thing shut it's eyes like "ok it's over".. and I was filled with pity for it. I released the bar and off it went under the fence. Normally I don't have much sympathy for rats.. but no creature picks their body or being- we get the hand we are dealt. I especially was trying to deter rats from getting near the rabbit hutch and food. (no more rabbits long since went to clover field heaven.)
I like the soory... "sorry" is over used. Glad the tests are done.. my gut is so bloated and uncomfortable.. a qt of contrast barely made it in. Ugh.. this sucks. I feel for ya all taking chemo because it sucks too.. sucky sucky sucks!
-
Littlegoats, Soloray. they have different levels. They are expensive. But I buy from a trusted health food store and the company is trusted certified product.. Don't trust GNC, any local pharmacy, grocery. Mail order. I think is questionable. The whole nonFDA controlled industry is under great scrutiny now. I posted about it months ago I wish I had archived it. They're was a huge thing about GNC, Walgreens, Walmart, Target and one more I forget. The New York Attorney General charged them with fraud. Bad scenario.
Does anyone remember me posting about the Hygiene Hypothesis? I need the post now and can't remember where I posted it.
-
Chevy, those arent tadpoles!!! It's baby MOSQUITOS she's moving!!!!! Oh My Dog!!!!!
-
Oh no not GNC Sassy. A big local healthfood store. I shop at it because it has some of the loveliest rice mixes, teas, flours. Just a neat store. I've seen Soloray stuff b4. Another favorite store is north of me in a little town where I did hospice. Odd how they have a lovely healthfood store. Only place I can buy Lundberg Golden Rose Brown Rice. My favorite brown rice. I think I have an almost empty package I can take to show them. I need to see if high $ Central Market can get it. I never go to the town this store is in. Never, well unless my car goes to the shop and well we don't need that. I do without the rice lol.
Sassy - what key words did you use? When? Is it literally "hygiene"? I think it might be on Just Diagnosed Get Prepared Feb 27, 2015. Page #9. At least that is some of it. I just searched for hygiene.
Good catch Spookie on the hatching mosquitoes.
-
Hahahaha Ms Spookie, I was wondering if they were mosquitos "tadpoles". Very sweet of Sheri though.
-
ADD and OCD---makes sense now. I am glad you say something Ms. Chevy. I don't feel bad not understanding.
-
My grandma had a rain barrel. I've seen the larvae in there. My county is running the fog trucks now to kill the bloodsuckers. They are testing the sentinel chickens for West Nile virus weekly. It's all over not to leave standing water around. Keep the chlorine up in your pool.
And she's moving them??????
-
*waves* reading . Hope you all had a good day.
-
mosquito larvae This might be confusing but this is tadpole

Or Earlier

-
Supposedly there is an oil you can put on the top of the water and the larvae suffocate. I don't know what kind of oil or if there is a non toxic type that will keep the mosquitoes away from using your rain barrels as nurseries. Problem is lots of frogs and such eat the larvae. Find a ten year old boy and have him get you some tadpoles, then you can dump them in and they will eat the little buggers! Perfect organic solution. Frogs are cool anyway. You know there used to be a zillion frogs when we grew up. Now it's rare to see them.
-
Hi Mammaray- are you doing okay? Are things okay at home?
-
Mammaray u ok?
Have ants also, need to get rid of them but have the cats, ideds, cat friendly.
Florida countdown, tired of hearing it yet?
Chevy u been busy,,,
Frey wow, been there my sympathy, hang in there. I did alot of self talking, saying "IT WILL B OVER SOON", I WILL MAKE IT THROUGH..
-
No, no! Now don't you think I know the difference between a mosquito what-ever and baby frogs? We've watched them lose their tails before, and grow legs... Mosquito's around here don't grow little cute legs like frogs do... so Hah!
And Rosie, one time Sheri saw an injured Goose in the street... been hit by a car, because they tend to just STAND in the street! Well her mate, was along the curb having a FIT... So SHE stopped, picked her up, put her in the car, and drove her to a VET! The next morning she went and got her, and drove her back to the park, and carried her into the park, away from the street! And she was walking by then!

And these are mosquito larvae in a dog bowl..

Oh Rosie that was such a sweet story about the rat! I have little mice around here, because we live next to the ditch, and they scurry along our fence... Ah geez, Spookie is going to get sick....! But they are just tiny and cute... and don't hurt anything...
And these are little field mice... like I see... but they are NOT allowed in the house...!

-
kill those mosquitoes!!! Not sure why god put them here. They suck - literally. We live where they are terrible. At night you can't even stand outside. Nope its screened in porches for us. I remember back when I took chemo they wouldn't bite me at all. Funny huh. I am off to a great start of the day. My boys are supposed to be home b wed at the latest. Woohoo !!! Can't wait
Hope everyone finds something good about today. Hugs all around

hi all....I just got done speed reading, so I think it's safe to say I have everyones life mixed up...lol
Had a great time with Claire, biked, walked, played tennis..came home with her for Father's Day....drove her back...passed out when I got home...and now back on my feet. Boy it takes a lot out of me.
Whoever asked...sorry, speed reading doesn't really work, arm...I am ignoring. The wrap caused hives, which set off a chain reaction of all over body hives. Yuck...that's under control now and off meds for hives, so I will start with massages now and see where that leads.
But today is a good day...hope everyone has a great Sunday
-
-
GOOD MORNING lovely ladies!! Hope you all have a good Sunday. Susan, got a good laugh reading your post. Glad you don't let lymphedema drag you down. MammaRay, hope things are better at home. No Ms BLONDIE, not tired of hearing about the count down. Excited for you. Patty, you guys have some smart mosquitoes- they recognize poison. You sound better.BBL . Got to get ready for Hospital for sinners.

Ant remedy I saw online: 25% salt in water. Dissolve and spray where they're coming in. I don't think it would hurt an animal to taste, and I'm sure they wouldn't want any more.
-
Oh MAN! We made it HOME! My car started "hesitating" and then going down busy Sheriday Blvd, I didn't think we would MAKE it! I shifted into a lower gear, and gunned it, and made it across the bridge and pulled into a King Soopers parking lot.... and almost had a heart attack!
DH looked under the hood, and saw the oil cap had blown off, and oil was EVERY damn where! Could not find THE OIL CAP anywhere under the hood... Oil everywhere! But no light came on indicating a problem....!!!
Called Janie, who doesn't live far, and is on her last vacation day.... SHE came to rescue us... Drove to 2 auto parts places.... No luck! Came back for me, and my Starbucks, and we drove to yet ANOTHER! Found one similar, and he said to TRY it..... DID NOT WORK.... So Janie ran in and bought some Duck Tape, and we taped that sucker with enough duck-tape to hold down the whole engine......
We drove s-l-o-w-l-y-home.... the back way.... her folowing us, and stopping us twice because my car was smoking she said! DH thought it was because oil had covered stuff, and smoke coming out the exhaust...
Made it home.... looked in alley, for lost cap.... nothing. Opened garage door, and THERE IT WAS! I was so happy, I couldn't stand it! Tape and wrong cap came right off.... So we will take that cap back....
See, DH checked the oil a couple weeks ago, and probably couldn't screw the cap on tight enough, because his hand is sort of crippled.... And it must have come off!
But I just thanked God we didn't have to have it towed! Being with HER, just makes everything fun....! Letting car cool off, then putting damn cap back on....... WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
