Blondie, go back to that post and either read it to her, or cut and paste and email it to her. :)

Loverly, Please, post on that thread. My thought(hypothesis) is that weight gain before ( and possibly during as you identified) is unexplained is the body protecting itself? It's not been an area that has been researched. By posting your observation that you can't explain the weight gain is important. What docs assume is that we are eating more, exercising less etc. versus considering that the body has a mechanism of creating an environment that will promote survival. Women in general are acutely aware of weight gain. We are aware of what we eat etc. When we see the scale moving and we haven't changed anything, our reaction is WTH? I'm not suggesting that all weight is related to this.

That pic was fun. How many attempts to get all off the ground at the same time.  Your nieces sound wonderful :) overcoming the hearing loss is an amazing story.

the fire didn't affect us. It was over a ridge and the winds didn't push the smoke towards us. I'm home, just crashed when I got home, forgot a meeting I wanted to go to last night. Got a lot done. 2 dresses, 1 partial dress, 1 top, 1 skirt, and 1 quilt. A couple Xmas stockings too.

This quilt will go to my SIL. She's heavy into red things. This is a quilt-as-you-go. It's all done when it's all assembled.

Smarrty, Thanks, not sure if I've read about that particular gene. I have thought that I should be tested for Chek2 and Pten after allot of research about 3 years ago. What's very cool is Farmerlucy started a thread. She identified Color Genomics(CG). It was started by a group of folks after Myriad lost their court case for Brca patent. This group felt that genetic testing could be made available for a llot less than what other companies charged.

CG charges only 249.00$ and tests for 19 different genetic errors. Inclusive of the Brca's. I tried to C&P a list and couldn't. This link is to a page that has a box with each listed. Put the cursor over each one. A box will drop down with an explanation of what the gene is related too.  https://getcolor.com/learn/the-science       You don't need a doctor order. But some have been able to work through getting the doc order and insurance coverage. I haven't gotten around to that b/c I forgot.

I checked the list and Kras isn't on it. I'll look into it. :)

Funny you're talking genetics. Gyn just really was onto me to get MO's opinion on genetic testing for me. He wonders if I GASP need my ovaries out. He gyn gave me the genetic testing guidelines last year and I meet none of them. I really don't know a great lot about my father's family. I was estranged from them from HS on. Know basically about his brothers, mom, dad, etc but not much about my generation cousins health, but they are still living because uncle died a couple of years ago and I have the obit. Same thing with my mom's sister. No way would I ever contact her again. Know she, 3 cousins still living. Sassy you might could answer this question you being a nurse way b4 I was. Not sure if my maternal GF died from Hodgkin's lymphoma or non Hodgkins (1964). All I remember is they treated him with nitrogen mustard - I was in the sixth grade amazed I even remember that. Know it was pretty quick from say December of one year to June of the next. Any guesses as to to which one it might be. Don't worry I won't hold your feet to the fire lol.

Oh great just read about nitrogen mustard. Seems it is or was used for both. Somewhere I have a box of my mom's papers. I wonder if GF's death cert. might be in there. I think this box has lots of my GM's stuff in it too.

Thanks to this discussion I just spent about an hour on Find A Grave. Not that it's going to tell me much but did find out about longevity in maternal GF and GM's families and paternal GF. Oddly enough no genealogy on paternal GM. Not really a genealogy buff but might have to do some digging.

Ms. Smarty, glad you are home safely and beautiful quilt.

Ms. Sass, ok if I cut n paste? You are going 100 miles/hr on the other post. I get dizzy reading them haha. Very interesting tho about dysbiome. You remind me of my younger Sis. She loves researching and bombards me with tons of info.. Has very good memory. She can't sit still. Self dx ADD lol . Two trials to get the picture...very creative young ladies. I wish I can find the newspaper clipping of cousin1 when she was in the Philippines helping the people after the Tsunami...such caring soul. She had done medical mission in India also.

Pattycake, hope today is even better for you than yesterday. Has the black cloud somewhat changing to gray? No need to apologize. It is hard not to be negative when you are cornered. Hugs

Smaarty - LOL I just realized those were hands on the sides holding the quilt. I though geesh small quilt, looks like a pillow. It is beautiful. Sounds like a productive time at the retreat.

AC man bounced me outta bed at 8 am. DH was on the spot. Already done, AC fine. Didn't have it checked last year. Awaiting plumber from 3-6 for install. DH is asleep and I'm about to go on a food search.

Hi Goats and Jazzy. Just looked up and saw your posts. Funny you mentioned the size of the quilt. First look, I thought the same. Then, saw the hands. Okay, stay away from sweets, Goats.

I think you can get 30 days free on Ancestor.Com. DD spends time there trying to find my bio father Traced moms family back to 1700s Germany. .

Wish I could use Ancestor.com. First generation immigrant :( Family is not good with keeping history. Both sets of grandparents died young. All we know is my greatgreat grandmother was 1/2 French and probably was born out of wedlock/rape.

I have some family history esp. on my mother's side. Father's not so much. SIL has done a lot for my DH's side. MIL was a KY Hatfield so no problem tracing her ancestry. My mom did tell me I was eligible to join DAR, Daughters of the Confederacy and also the Texas Republic - the last on my father's side. She never did any of them. And alas she did not write it down and I was not smart enough to grasp it. I pretty much thought I had years of time to do this. I really don't have the bucks to do these and really the interest. Just would want the info. The Texas Republic I could prob. find, not that long ago.

    Hootie Hoo back atcha Patty.

I found 2 old newpaper clippings 1919, 1920 but wanted you to subscribe to their subscription service. I use the cached copy if I can and the control F function to search. Amazed when I did it to the uncached copy and it worked. Voila no need for their service.

Littlegoatssssssssssss  alas, the discussion caused you to look for a grave???? and you are doing some digging? OMD. LOL.  I findly caught it on Find a Grave--- you can look for relatives. .....Nope not a clue about nitrogen mustard other than that was the WMD of WW1. Hmmm. WMD from WW1 became a cancer treatment and a WMD from WW2 became a cancer treatment.......DBF got me a Hershey's bar. Their chocolate is so good. Every bit as good as Godiva. They're is another one in the frig  :)

Loverly  when I get the Color's test it will be in the panel. I was worried about it, Thyroid doc said it would likely be positive. He explained that TP53 was a chicken and egg thing. Can be present before cancer and likely is after cancer. Their is a TP53 thread here on BCO just repost the color's thing there. It's been in my favs, but it's been inactive. Some of the gals there did allot searching for info on it.

Loverly, here's another link on microbiome. Not sure if I linked it here. You betcha on that weight thread, I'm learning so much. One breadcrumb leads to another. Thanks for posting there. Minimal traffic, but they're lot's of lurkers. I just talk to them like they're sitting next to me and we are learning together. Ask your Doc tomorrow for a Thyroglubulin & autoantibodies as a baseline. He will only want to do a TSH. Also, Free T3, Free T4. he'll balk, but try.

Hey Rose, hope your scan went well today. Had appointment with my MO today and I think I might need to change doctor. Not sure if I am in good hands. She doesn't seem to be listening to my concern/question sigh.

Stop pushing the heat wave down to us!! It is 100 degree here. I feel so sluggish I don't feel like cleaning the last restroom (we have three). Even the ants and spiders are trying to escape the heat and found their ways into our house. They should go to our neighbors' instead. I think our AC just went kaput.

Thank you Ms. Sas for the link

loverly- thanks.. glad it's over with. One more drop of contrast and I would have busted a seam or puked. None of Oncologist I have had have listened well -not a single one, so if you think that's a must have oy... good luck with that search. Yes this is a crazy hot June by Oregon standards.. never had it be this hot here and dry for this long. Global warming is real. We usually drown and it's crispy dry.

Chevy your garden and house is adorable. Hope your DH pulls out of his funk. Blondie have fun!

I have a paid ancestry.com account so if anyone needs someone searched, you can pm me what info you have and I'll go from there. I can't guarantee a fast response since I'm still sleeping a lot but I go back to work on Sunday and will probably have some down time later in the night to search

Morning Spookers and all you gals... It's so NICE out right now... just barely getting light, and only 60 degrees! Yesterday we didn't get one of those frog-strangler rain storms near nightfall! We LOVE the rain, but it BLOWS every thing out of the trees, and all the sticks and leaves and things are all OVER the place.

Some trees came up-rooted not far from here with the latest storms... Glad our 150 year old Colo Blue Spruce is holding his own.... This house would be a goner if it ever fell over... I feel like it's protecting us from all the hot Sun, and pollution... like holding it's branches out over us.... We had to cut one down in our back-yard when we moved in, and in 1964 it was 50 years old THEN. So this tree is the old man of the neighborhood... So many birds nests have been made in the branches...! It's even older than WE are! Ha!

Marla, that is really generous of you with your offer... I love diging through my Mom's old "stuff"... Her diaries, and all the things she saved and collected from HER family... I've tried to keep a lot of that information for MY Daughters, about DH and I and as much as I can find out..... I just know my Grandpa's brother was an out-law of sorts... and DH's Dad's Father was ALSO running along the out-skirts of the law, and there was running from the law with boot-legging, and then the old mobster era, but they don't like to talk about that....

Besides there's no-body left from that generation .... except us.... Just a few raggedy memories.

Thanks Rosie.... Yes, DD came over yesterday with presents for us both, for Father's Day.... That ALways cheers him up... He can be such a fun guy, and I think it's good when he walks down to see his buddies and have a couple beers with them! They just talk about "stuff" and the latest neighborhood news, then he comes home in 2 hours, and WE sit and talk about what they talked about... HAHhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaa! We really do have a good life, and just sitting out there, with all the shade, and relaxing, and it's quiet.... It's just peaceful!

So today I'm cleaning out our freezer! You know I buy lots of fruit, and freeze it, then when it's on sale again, run buy some more, but it's probably best to EAT what is THERE before repeating this whole routine! So I have to make room for more........ fruit! Or just eat what we HAVE.... I KNOW we don't need to "stock-up"... like we once did... but old habits are just hard to break. That freezer doesn't have to be FULL! Drives me nuts.

So I must make something... There are always birds and squirrels depending on us for their daily vittles.

Marlana- My brother paid up for a ancestry acount that looks into our family tree. He is in to researching where everybody came from. It's kind of interesting since he has no family, just him. People with kids are too busy raising them to figure out ancestry!

Chevy- I know just what you mean about getting attached to trees. I think the trees make a home. We have some lovely ones and I know just which ones have squirrel nests and I watch for the babies. The dapled shade is wonderful. We have a glider seatee on the porch- so old 25 and still works well; I love to sit there in the garden. Our oldest cat sacks out there with me.

W had the AC on all night.. muggy and hot. Today will be another scorcher, then it cools off. Can't wait for the cooler weather and I wish it would rain!
