Tamoxifen Endometrial Thickening - Waiting for Biopsy Results
Following endometrial thickening on regular TVUS my Gyne did a pipelle biopsy.
I was surprised to hear him say results would take 4 weeks and might be inconclusive!
This week I have been short tempered and aggravated by everything and everyone I encounter - including myself.
I have gained 4 kilos in the past 3 weeks!
I suddenly realized I am more anxious about the results of the biopsy than I thought I was.
I am going to be as positive about the whole mess as I can be by going for a long walk (in the sweltering heat).
Maybe I will loose a gram or two and sweat some of the anxiety out.

Waiting for biopsy results is always nerve-wracking; but the 4 weeks seems like an especially long timeframe. If you don't live near a major medical center, I can see results taking maybe 7-10 days at most. I've been fortunate to get results of that type of biopsy always within 3 days.
I do understand why your doctor said the results might be inconclusive. Mine explained to me that sometimes the sampling is too small for any accurate assessment to be made. Also, it's just sampling one very tiny area of the endometrium. Did your Gyne say anything about a repeat TVUS another 3-4 months out?
Hope the walking helps. I know it does for me.

Hi Manu14
I do indeed feel better after walking. I will give the Gyne's office a call early next week and let them know I need results ASAP for peace of mind.
It seems stupid to me to do a test that pokes a hole in a person if the chances are it will be useless anyway!
If it comes back inconclusive I am going to tell the doc I am not doing anything else for another 6 months unless he absolutely thinks I have to do some other biopsy (I dread to think what that might be).
I think I will be walking again tomorrow.

Bounce-your talk of kilos puts you outside of the US. So, maybe it does take that long in your country. I get the procedure you mentioned done every 6 months. So far the results have always been negative. When my lining builds up, I start feeling really PMSy. I also grow polyps since starting on Tamoxifen. When I get the the polyps removed, the lining is thinned/scraped(D&C). I usually feel better after that............until the lining & polyps return.........
This is really more of a nuisance than a real worry/concern for me. Hoping your results are benign & they come back sooner than expected.

Hi coraleliz
Thanks for the encouragement - it could be that I just need to accept that I will be having more procedures and accept it as you say - a nuisance - rather than as I see it - someone violently interfering with me!
I am definitely feeling PMSy - could also explain why I am eating!
Have you been taking Tamoxifen since 2011? Have you thought about swopping to a AI?
I can't seem to work up much enthusiasm for Ovarian Suppression injections and an AI?
Sometimes I feel like my thoughts are like a hamster running around on a wheel - very busy but never getting anywhere!
