    Good morning -- loved hearing you the explanation  of smart phone/I-pad etc.  I'm soooo challenged.  I usually can't even retrieve missed calls off my flip-phone w/o DH's help.  Having said that --- I do know from what I've learned to do on my computer ( I've actually helped other people a few times ) that I can learn.  So I guess it comes down to more of a money issue.  Also --- since good ole' Dh seldom needs too much encouragement ( and will squander funds willy-nilly ) to branch out.....I'm pretty much ok with how things are. 

    It's a bit overcast this a.m. due to storms in Missouri which isn't all that far away from us.  About 70 miles or so to the West.  I don't think we will get rain ( not today anyway ) and likely tomorrow either.  Sometimes we do get missed. 

    Funeral for my Aunt this morning --- so I'm hoping but likely we will be mainly in the chapel located in the cemetery.  My Aunt and Uncle will be laid to rest together though my Uncle passed on several yrs. ago.  Will be good for me to actually say a formal good-bye to my Uncle. 

    Minus Two, I get calls from No Name and sometimes out of my ( somewhat perverted ) sense of poetic justice that is how I answer the phone --- by saying good morning or afternoon to No Name.  Whom do you wish to speak to here.  We don't have a name either and we don't know you. 

    For some reason -- it seems to make them a little irate and sometimes they HANG up on me.  Sigh !!!!  Some people are so rude.

    Hi gals! I've enjoyed the phone conversation. I still have a landline because I'm not good at dragging my cell around when I am in the house. It is a good idea to cancel the long distance, though. I kept that when my Dad was alive because I called Tennessee abaout 4 times each week....if not more... and talked for almost an hour each time because it helped to make his night go faster. I have unlimited long distance and should really see about getting that taken off. Thanks for that suggestion!

    I do really love my smartphone, though. I used to think that texting was stupid but I am now hooked! :-) It wasn't very hard to learn the "ins and outs" of the smartphone and I use it all the time for gathering info, taking pictures, talking and texting!

    We got rid of our land line and just use our cells.

    I fnially finished my crocheting project for a beanie cap and finished my last class for making flowers for cakes. Will try to post a picture later.

    I think you and your essayist have hit upon something.  I have noticed ( and I feel like I'm far too young ) that now and then things I think should be there in memory have just fallen out somewhere when I wasn't looking.  I know that I know the answer or at least that I knew it before the question was asked --- but I get to searching around and it is no where to be found.  Life's ( and the mind's ) little quirks.  I think I'll just have to paste that to my cork-board and during times of great frustration over just where the 'needed' info might be --- or just where it might have fallen --- I can read something that will induce me to relax  -- or so I sure hope.

    I heard a sharp computer-savvy 90yo woman say she just hits the 'find' button and waits for it to turn up while she goes on about her business. DH and I will try to remember something unsuccessfully. Two days later one of us will have the answer and just say it out loud. The other never asks what the speaker means.

    I've learned not to search my memory.  In time the answer or word just materializes in my thoughts.

    I hate it when I can't tihink of something that I should know. It bothers me until I finally come up with it. Then...poof! The answer appears out of nowhere. I've heard it said that our brain is like a file cabinet. We keep adding more to it every year and it becomes cluttered. Too bad we can't just clean it out and throw unnecessary things away like we can clean out those file cabinets!

    Hi everybody!

    I recently turned 59. Diagnosed stage 4 two years ago. On Herceptin and Arimidex. Never thought I'd make it two years but here I am!

    My oldest daughter is expecting a baby girl soon. I feel so blessed that I'll be here to see a grandchild. Trying to sew, embroider etc small projects for her. One month I made 9 baby blankets! Haha guess she won't need that many so I'm keeping them for my other kids who aren't married or expecting yet. Do any of you have any suggestions for small projects for grand babies? Something that won't zap all my energy? I've been pretty fatigued with treatments.

    How about a small animal baby toy? I have made a teddy bear before and it wasn't too difficult. Or something for when she's bigger?

    Check a fabric store for story book panels to make a cloth book...washable, easy to hold, and chew on, too. I made one for my son and he carried it around like a blanket.

    Welcome, Lynn.  Congratulations on the future grandchild!  What a joy he or she will be.  I have seen cute crocheted animals.  Best wishes for the success of your treatment.

    I took myself out into the yard this morning and did a couple of hours of yard labor.  It's a bright sunny day.  Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

    Thanks! I'm hitting some yard sales today and then hoping to start some projects this next week for the grand baby. I'm so excited for our family! A brand new baby girl to look forward to! Can't hardly think about the big C.....except for scans, waiting, labs, waiting, appointments, treatments, shots,etc.

    G'day ladies, just thought I would ask if any of you more computer savvy girls would be able to solve my tablet problem. I have asked the Mods for help but all of their suggestions have come to nothing so far. I'm sure it is something simple, but it's beyond me at the moment.

    I have a $200, not well-known brand tablet, which I got a month ago for Mothers day. I immediately tried to install -bookmark this forum and another one along with my favourites from the desktop PC. All of them have allowed me access to their sites except this one. I think I was too keen to get them up and running and bookmarked them before I had checked to see if I could use them the same way. My OS is Google, without Chrome. but it pops my username up and then my password but won't accept my password. I even tried to open a new account with different name and pw, got two posts off and the next day it wouldn't open for me. I am going into hospital on Thursday for a week for hip replacement surgery (thanks to arthritis from AI's) and, with the help of a pre-paid wi -fi dongle, hoped to access all my favourite sites while there. I will be a long way from home and DH is going to drive me there and then come home to look after our two pets until the day I am discharged. I have a daughter in Hospital at the moment too, having had two mini strokes since Thursday, and need all systems running as I am her POA agent and need to keep up to date with her carers. I have a smart phone too since last Thursday and can manage to operate it but sometimes I get a bit fuzzled about how to do things on it....but I am learning.

    Did this turn into a novella or what? Hoping someone has the secret to my dilemma, though my latest idea is to delete this site from the bookmarks and re-sign up, but I can't find out how to get it out of the bookmarks.

    Lynn - I'm one of the official lurkers here, but I sew several hours every day. May I suggest, bibs, burp cloths, and for later on, tooth pillows or some such container for when grandkids lose teeth. Do you make halloween costumes? One for baby's first halloween would be fun. I made a photo collage and printed it on white or cream muslin. I made little dresses, diaper covers, bonnets, etc. Doesn't take much fabric and those things become family heirlooms. Best wishes.     Hey ladies...funny u should say red hair cause i saw the baby today n the brown is falling out n the blonde is there.

    My gd had w baby girl 3 weeks b4 my dd2. Haven't seen her since the hospital  n i dont drive so who knows. Thank goodness 4 fb

    I have a fake phone as i caal it or an oboma phone cause it is 4 poor people. I have a landline also.

    Am going to fla in july 4 2 weeks, my son n gs who is 9 is going to my step daughters house, in cape coral. So excited, glad my mo said ok.they will get oxy there as well as contact hospice there 4 them 2 check on me,. 

    The pain is regulated n the nurse comes twice a week, n the social worker twice a month

    The weather is up n down, u70s this week

    One our BCOs ladies is ckoming tomorrow,  having met her through here, she lives in Boston mass. N her dd goes to college near me, anyway she have been here for various reasons 4 her dd2 n has taken me food shopping twice n is back, coming tomorrow to take me again, knowing i hope how much i appreciate it, the kids  r still no help, or minimal help. We will do lunch then shopping then she will go back home. 

    I hsve been so fortunate in meeting u all, literally dont know whwt i would do withou u...thank u from the bottom of my heart r4 being there night or day just to listen or talk.

    Still ul most of the night with steroids but everything is good..getting out n about going to bb games, making memories. .. life has no expiration date...

    Have rest of a wonderful weekend n anne i need to talk tto u about face time.

    Friday night we kept hearing a noise outside that sounded like an animal in distress. Husband went looking and found a fawn about the size of a cat with its leg caught between some sticks. He was able to free the leg while the mama was blowing and stomping her feet. Probably the doe and fawn will graze in our freshly planted vegetable garden this Summer.

    Sheila, we have a tablet that I have used but I don't use it regularly.  I like using my laptop better.  The only way I could "possibly" help would be having the tablet in my hands and using the trial and error method.  In your place, I would call the manufacturer for technical assistance.  I'm glad you have a smart phone as a backup.

    Blondie, you sound good.  I'm so glad you're going to FL and are excited about the trip.  Blessings continuing to come your way.

    Lynn1234  I'm saying hi and welcome to you.  You are doing excellent.  May you have yrs. and yrs. at excellence.  I'm all thumbs at most things so no help with projects for grand-baby goodies.  Still, I'm so glad you asked because I so enjoy hearing what others have done and while I may have nothing but thumbs on my hands --- what a joy to 'experience' the thoughts of long-lasting joy while others are busy making things.  I can be vicarious and I think almost feel the thrill I imagine of being able to do those things.   Enjoy, enjoy --- grandchildren is the promise of the world needing to go on. 

    Aussie --- I don't have tablet, I-phone or any of the other type goodies, but I pretty much do Carole's hunt and peck method for things ( computer and flip phone ) that aren't cooperating with me easily.  When I just can't figure it out ( since it is my computer ) I call Microsoft.  I have an account with them and they just walk me through what I need or else with my permission take control of my computer and set it up. It has saved me over and over.  I think this month is renewal month for my Microsoft assistance account --- but for someone like me -- well worth it. 

    Blondie, how great to get to go to Florida.  You sound stimulated and eager and I'm so glad  for what sounds like wonderful arrangements  having been made for when you get there.  You have a fantastic Dr. who knows I think what will give you an instant lift to the soul.   Also a joy to hear that a BCO lady/friend comes to give you some direction and help out with things for you.  I know you are so thankful -- I bet those who get the privilege of helping you are thankful too.  Some of the greatest happiness and satisfaction is what we get to do for others.  It is wonderful to be needed.

    Teka, how brave and wonderful that your husband freed the fawn.  A lot of people would have been reluctant ( mama deer can be dangerous ) to involve themselves.  Please give hubby a thank-you hug from me. 

    Paula, I always love seeing you come.  Your smiling face just seems to light mine up too.

    On to a not too busy day.  Made the trip to Missouri yesterday and I fell asleep twice  in my recliner --- so off to bed where I think I slept at least another 9 hours.  It isn't that it is such a long trip there --- it's actually really close, but highway/interstate work makes a lot of changes and any time they take a lane or two away it is iffy and often a bit on the dis-comforting side.  Some drivers seem to insist at these times of acting like they are driving the Indy 500.  So it makes for tenseness and you get home sometimes feelings like you've run for miles, for hours when all you did was sit in a car --- and I wasn't the driver.

    I'm off to the fabric store to find something cute for a bib, a cloth book and animal. If they turn out well, I'll post pictures. If not....well, at least they were made with love. Haha!

    We have to keep a landline because my heart monitor sends through the line. We don't have any extras and don't even answer it because no one we know calls that number.

    I spent the last hour helping dh spread mulch around trees at the far end of our property. I only did 5 and he did the rest. I thought that was pretty good since I just got the last ab drain out Friday.

    Actually got my cell phone turned on today. Loving it. Thank u 4 ur kind words...Martha came today, she is so awesome, we went to lunch, dairy queen, then food shopping. We have such a good time, well i do, not sure if she is tired of me yet, lol. i know i annoy people, lol or mayb just my kid, lol. I so appreciate her, don'ttake anything 4 granite.

    The fla, well u all r going to b sick of hearing it, lol july 8th will b here soon, lol.  Wish i could stay there n not come home.. still trying to figure out whether to mail clothes down there, changing planes twice, george (ds) is worried about losing his luggage. Taking southwest so no worries, luggage is free. Leaving at 530am, so have 2 b at the airport at 4am..on a Wednesday
