Are you taking toremifene?

Is anyone on toremifene? What did your oncologist say to you about it? I'm trying to figure out why it's not offered more, to women who don't metabolize tamoxifen well. If you're on it, is it because you're a poor or intermediate metabolizer? Also, did you have any trouble getting your insurance to pay for it? Thanks!

    Hi Oceangirl, I was going to post a question about Toremifene too, but since you already did I will post here. I actually just started Toremifene literally this week so I haven't been on it long enough to post any SE. My Onco is having me try this because I had such bad SE's with tamoxifen (debilitating joint pain). My Onco says it can get pretty expensive but lucky for me my ins does cover it. If this doesn't work, I think I'll just take my chances without HT because the other alternative according to my Onco is to get the estrogen suppressor shots and go on some other HT regimen that has a high chance of joint pain as a SE.

    Oh weird fact, my Onco asked me if I was or thinking of being a body builder. I said no, and he says ok good. I asked why and he because Toremifene is a common drug that body builders use and abuse. haha do I look like a body builder?

    That's weird! Why would he ask you that?!!

    I'll be interested to know how it goes for you on toremifene. I'm getting the CYP2D6 test to see if I need it. I have the most awful dry mouth on tamoxifen so I'd quite like to find out if I have that on toremifene or not. I hope it goes well for you and you don't have side effects!
