Mommy- what a wonderful thing you found. There is nothing like finding old friends, or in this case, someone who was close to a lost sibling. I understand that too, as I lost a sibling 21 years ago. Glad you are going to stay in touch.
I found out yesterday that all my first cousins in this one part of my mom's family will be at a wedding this fall. My sister and I are planning to attend, she just decided this past month she was going to go. I cannot tell you how happy I am that we will all be connected together in one place for the first time in decades. One cousin I have not seen since we were teenagers, another since around 1994. This is going to be fun!

Jazzy n mommy
How cool is that
-
What's even cooler about what happened, is that other people who knew my sister when they were in high school band together, have found me and told me what a nice person she was to them. Made me very happy to know what she was like with all of them.
-
Mommy- that is nice to hear that the people spoke fondly of your sister now gone. How long ago did you loose your sister?
-
She will have been gone 5 years this June.
-
Mommy- I am sorry to hear about your sister's passing not that long ago. Five years probably feels like yesterday. I lost a brother 21 years ago and it took me awhile to feel better from that.
Hugs sister, I hope the memories are comforting in some small way.
-
It does, sometimes i'm having such a bad day that I get the urge to call her just to hear her voice to tell me everything was going to be okay and then it hits me that she's gone.
-
Mommy- I do understand that so well. I still feel like that with my mom who passed 3 years ago. Sometimes I get some good news and think "I need to call mom" and then forget she is gone. The mind is reluctant to let go, just as the heart is....
-
It is so hard, but I have my memories. It took such a long time for me to listen to songs that didn't remind me of her. I swore every time Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" came on, the tears would start
-
Mommy- I understand how songs can bring up memories. When my brother passed, they had a group at the church sing "That's What Friends are For." during the funeral service. They did such a lovely job, and yet I still cannot hear that song without tearing up some 20 plus years later. That is the thing about grief, it never quit goes away and you never know when it will come up or how.
Hugs sister.
-
Swear that every time I go in for surgery since her passing, my sister and our dad come to me as if to tell me everything would be okay. Swore they came to me last week before the implant surgery.
-
Mommy- I often feel people around me too during times like that. I remember lying in the hospital bed when I had my appendix out and was so sick. I felt they were all around the bed, watching over me. Was it them or the morphine? I think it was all of them......
-
I think its them, because I kept feeling like there was a hand resting on my shoulder. My mom told me that my dad did that when I was napping before he died.
