    oh my gosh NM, that's awful!  Sorry your car is totaled but glad you're OK.

    I had a near-miss this past week while driving home from work.  You know those guys who think they're immune from the laws of physics?  Well, one came speeding past a line of cars going maybe 50 and ended up spinning out and in the ditch.  He came this close to causing a massive pile up and my heart was going pitta-pat.  I can only imagine how terrified you were.

    Happy Birthday, Jane!  I know you don't eat cake (too many carbs) so how about some flowers?

    Maybe too early for lilacs but it's nice to dream about Spring. ♥ Attawoman, patoo!

    Well,I am very disappointed,The Fitbit clip popped off my waistband and the damned this is lost.I usually notice when it pops off, didn't this time.So no records and no points for this week.Got to research another tracker gizmo, one that will work reliably (the FitBit one stops recording randomly, possibly due to static shock) AND will actually stay on.Wrist band types not something I can use, unless the wrist band works put in a pocket.Any suggestions?

    Zogo--Happy Birthday to your Dear Mom!

    Patoo--congrats on the weight down!

    NM, my fitbit one has a strap that loops on the gel holder and then clips to the waistband. Sometimes I don't use it (the metal clilp sometimes irritates my skin) and attach fitbit onto my bra near the armpit and that works well also. Surprised yours falls off as mine really appears to be on well even without the strap/clip. Do you have a different model fitbit?

    Hi everyone, checking in late

    Late check-in = 1 point

    Weight up = 0 points

    Exercise = 2.5 hours = 5 points (cold got worse before it got better so hardly any exercise but my appetite was much improved dagnabbit!)  Feeling much better and enjoyed a nice walk OUTSIDE today which may be my extra credit for next Friday.

    Daily H2O = 7 points

    Extra credit = 1 point – have managed to avoid giving this cold to my DH or anyone at work, where I picked it up.  I suspect the co-worker who’s a finger-licking page-turner.  Ugh what a disgusting habit.

    Total = 14

    NM I'm low-tech, just a cheap pedometer clipped on the waistband of my pants.  If I lose one, it's not a big investment.  Hope you find a good alternative.  I'm glad you posted even though you reported zero points.  Tough week but you should get at least one for a late check-in!

    NM, also if you want a pedometer that is quite good I highly recommend the Omron. Runs about $25-$30. (Amazon) and is very accurate (I actually prefer it to the fitbit but since I have the fitbit...) I could not take the clicking the cheaper ones seemed to always do while I wore them. The Omron comes with a case that clips onto the waistband (I still used the leash/clip) or you can put it in a pocket.

    I had a FitBit One, it came with a rubbery like holder with a metal strip in the clip.I don't wear a bra any more, so I was carrying it in my pocket, but it kept shutting off and not recording for hours at a time.Thought it might be static, so put it back in the holder thingy, but that was kind of bulky in the pocket and kept working it's way out of the pocket, too.I've used a pedometer before, but am more motivated by the more techy stuff the FitBit offers.I'm looking at getting one of the wrist strap versions and putting it on my ankle (can't have it on my wrist/arm due to work)or getting another FB One and making a pouch that I can pin into a pocket.Horrible to be so picky, isn't it?

    Yes, I got the fitbit one because of the techy stuff but find it shows weird stats. Numbers it gives me for calories burned can in no way be accurate. I'm not quite sure about the step counter either but that one I can live with as it is all relative but not the calories becuase it consistently has me burning much more than I take in, I mean much more, not just a little bit. So I just wear it, because I have it, for the steps and use loseit.com for the calories in/out. Loseit and fitbit do sync up, at least for food. Probably the whole problem is me as I don't have too much patience to try and figure out what I am probably doing wrong.

    Anycase, they sell a 'pedometer safety leash' and that is what I attach to the rubbery (silicone?) holder which is clipped to my waistband most times (as opposed to putting in a pocket) and the leash also clips to the waistband.

    Patoo--I'll have to look for one of those pedometer leashes!Sounds like just what I need.And I'm pretty sure the FitBit wasn't super accurate, but I was losing weight and that's the end goal for me, so it was working.Except when it didn't work. . .

    Hi everyone, checking in late (again)

    Late check-in = 1 point

    Weight up (again) = 0 points (on a business trip to Milwaukee last week; they brew great beer there.)

    Exercise = 4 hours = 8 points

    Daily H2O = 7 points

    Extra credit = 1 point – filled new prescription for anastrozole (generic Arimidex).  Still have a few tamox left but will start the AI when they're gone.  Apprehensive.  Had baseline bone density test last month and am to take 1200 mg of calcium/day and 400-800 units of vit D/day.  Prescribing myself 30 mins of weight-bearing exercise a day so expect to see exercise points increase.

    Hi all, totally missed Friday. Crazy week and weekend. Sent my youngest off to France on Saturday. We are officially empty nesters for the next 2 weeks. Now I need to focus on me and my exercise!

    Badger, do you know what your vitamin D level is? A full 70% of Americans are too low (especially in our northern climate). I take at least 5000 IU/day and have my whole family taking it, too.

    Late check-in = 1 point

    Weight down = 2 points

    Exercise = 4.5 hours = 9 points

    Daily H2O = 7 points

    Extra credit = 1 point – signed up for my first 5K of the year, a Bunny Hop fun run/walk.

    Total = 20

    Jane, if memory serves (HA!) the last time I had blood tests that included vit D levels was PFC (post final chemo).  Too long ago to remember numbers but prob not valid any more anyway.  I do know that the levels were within normal range.  The supp I got at the pharmacy today is tabs with 600 mg of calcium and 800 IU of vit D3.  I will take one in the morning and one in the evening to get 1,200 mg of calcium and 1,600 IU of vit D3.  I’ve heard your body can’t absorb all 1,200 mg of calcium at once so better to split it up. I do eat organic beef (not liver - yuck), eggs, cheese & mushrooms, and get adequate sunshine so I think I'm OK???

    Extra Credit: 1 points--got the Fitbit back up and running!

    Found a way to wear the Fitbit that it doesn't stop recording randomly.Now I need to start recording my food and water again.Been wondering if I would do better to set goals based on the number of steps first, then work on exercise in general a bit later.Only averaging around 3000 steps a day, wonder what it would take to get to 3250 steps per day on average?Hmmmm..

    Badger--The body also needs Vit D to absorb calcium, that's why so many calcium supplements also have Vit D now.You probably are ok one the Vit D front if you are getting 30 minutes of sunshine on a large portion of your skin every day.

    Patoo--packing is hard work!How far are you moving? The FitBit folks replaced my Fitbit for me, for which I am grateful.It's a lot of money to lose after just a few weeks.I guess I like the techie stuff more than the simple step count, what can I say?

    Ginger--I just got my replacement last week, it was an easy process.

    Zogo--Hardcore Keto as in ketogenic?Good for you, sounds hard!

    NM, my fitbit (which I think fell unnoticed into one of the packed boxes) was giving me an enormous amount of calories burned every day. I finally only used it for counting steps and now have gone back to my trusty Omron pedometer. I'm going to try and join you and start logging my food on loseit.com again as that really keeps me more focused.
