after googling for many long hours.....i think i got edema. at first i thought it's lymphedema but both of my lower legs + ankles are swollen. they're better at night when i put my legs up and when got up from bed. and they got worse as the day goes by.

it started last Thursday and it's been persisting. very annoying.

not sure if i should see my primary, or MO....will call them both.

I, too, have been developing foot and ankle edema as you have described. I have been on anastrazole for 4 years and this just started about 3 months ago. I have an app't with my MO later this month and will discuss

    this wth her

called my MO today and the nurse called me back and told me its highly possible the swelling was because of tamoxifen. She told me to stop the med for two weeks.

But I am going to my primary doc tomorrow anyway just to make sure nothing wrong with my heart liver kidney.....

    Will report back.

    Hi,

Went to see my primary doc who checked me thoroughly...and the blood work came back, everything was normal except my thyroid was too active. which explains why i have been fatigue and nausea in the morning.....

I faxed the blood work to my MO....and i was ordered to have a US for my thyroid...

thanks for your kindness and stopping by.

    Wow Juneping,

You just saved my sanity!! I have been on Tamoxifen now since Aug 13, about 3 months ago I noticed that my hands and face were puffy in the morning. My rings that normally slide around my fingers could not even be removed until later in the day after I have had my 2 cups of coffee!) I went to my PCP with the complaint and he ordered a battery of tests, all of which were normal except my free t4 ,which was too high. I mentioned it to the NP at my MO's office but did not get much of a response. I too looked on Dr. Google and did not find much. I am now in a holding pattern for three more weeks(a total of 8 weeks) to have the T4 retested. I too think an US should be ordered to check things out. Thank you so much for sharing your st story! I thought I was alone in this one.

    Gully,

    the edema was from tamoxifen.

i suspect the hyperthyroid was also from tamoxifen....the thyroid didn't cause the swelling i assume. it is causing me fatigue in the morning and increase my bowel movement....i had 4 already
