Oh Amy, please rest and heal. 3/26 will be here before you know it. I pray you have a successful surgery and an easy recovery. God know you deserve it.

DiveCat: I'm so sorry about your mom. My mom's last recurrence of her ovarian cancer (in 2010) was really scary. Once she recovered a bit, I went to visit as much as I could. She's 76 and doing amazing for all the stuff she has to deal with. I hope your mom has many more good years left and you get lots of chances to visit with her.

Thanks for the well wishes for my surgery gypsyjo & Kim

Hi canadiancampmama. I send you lots of positive thoughts for your upcoming surgery. I'm just having the dye for my nodes since I'm having Mx instead of Lx.

Wishing you the best for your surgery tomorrow my surgery sister jenga60.

I'll be in hospital 2 to 3 days and will update after I get back home.

Good luck on your upcoming surgeries gypsyjo, Butterfly53, ladyduffer, and Valentine99.

I hope you're able to get some good healing rest over the next few days Amy.

I'm getting a little anxious and hope I'll be able to get a good night's sleep as I need to be up about 4:30am to have time to do my antibacterial shower before we have to rive to hospital.

Had my morning antibacterial shower and we're just about ready to head to hospital for a 6:30am check in. Hopefully I'll be in the OR by 8am. I'll be thinking of all of you with upcoming surgeries over the next few days. I'll update when I return from hospital in 2 to 3 days.

Looks like a busy week for surgery sisters...wishing everyone good luck and may you all have the best doctors and nurses!

Two weeks out today and relatively pain-free except for the annoying 2 remaining drains and tightness of the expanders. Only OTC meds for me and I'm feeling so much better than I expected at this point.

Today we head back to the BS for post-op appointment to learn more details of the pathology report. I'm a little nervous even though we already know nodes are clear and two small tumors were found. With more time to think this week, I'm back to feeling that I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I had breast cancer. Today it will be more real than it is other days. Not ready, but I accept the roller coaster that today might be emotionally....feeling scared and sorry for myself one moment and then relieved and so lucky the next.

I'm so sorry that all of us and so many others are going through this!

CatsRus & angmom, hoping for as good as pathology results as you can get today!

And angmom, ugh, I hope you get those drains out asap! I only had mine for a week and that was long enough! Your comfort (and mobility should increase dramatically once they are gone.

canadiancampmama, welcome! I just thought I'd chime in since you're having SNB and tell you my experience. It was good. I didn't even feel the shot when they injected the dye, it was pretty much painless for me.

Good luck and lots of prayers to everyone having surgery this week.  Also, hoping all pathology reports are good for everyone too.  I am so scared and nervous that I can barely function.

Thanks hummingbird lover. I had pre - op this morning and learned I will only get the radioactive injections on Wednesday and the blue dye will come after I'm asleep on Thursday. YES

And I can take atavan before I head to the hospital.

Because I have terrible veins I also get to pick my own surgery iv site. Feeling much less anxious .

Good luck to everyone having surgery this week.  Wow, it is a busy surgery week!!!

I made the plunge and made an apt with a plastic surgeon to discuss recon if I decide on BMX.  One more step.

AudreyB, I made this recommendation on another thread this AM, but I also recommend you pick up The Breast Reconstruction Guidebook by Kathy Steligo if you can. It was quite informative, and good to hand off to anyone who might be around you during surgery and recovery to understand what to expect. I am not sure if they have an updated version since the one I had, but the one I had did include information on DIEP, direct to implant, etc, as well.

Not the news I was hoping for. Cancer found in one of two nodes. More than one tumour in my breast also so BS is happy I opted for MX over LX. I guess my case will be discussed Friday and next Monday I get to pick my options. Apparently current thinking is going back and forth on removing lymph nodes or not... of course my mind had gone blank and I didn't ask what the alternative to removal is.... I'm guessing radiation but I should have asked...next time...

    So on it goes......

Still waiting on hormone testing results.

    Feeling crappy.

I'm sorry catsrus. I know it's not the news you were hoping for. Try to keep thinking positive thoughts and hopefully next time you meet with your team, they'll have a clear treatment plan for you. Take it easy on yourself today. ((Hugs)

Getting ready for Thursday...i go in tomorrow for Pre-op with the PS...getting nervous. Not so much with the surgery but with all the not knowing. Not knowing what they are going to find and how I am going to react to surgery and recovery! Good luck to everyone this week...you will be in my thoughts!

Had my surgery today, home on the couch now. I only have 1 drain. Feeling pretty good so far physically.

Mentally positive but in shock that when they did the in surgery test of a couple nodes it came back positive so they removed ALL the nodes. Now to wait until April 22nd for the results ....will weigh onme and will find out the next steps then.

Hope everyone is doing well that already had surgery and wishing those about to go in for surgery all the best.

Sorry for the news, Catsrus. I know it must be hard and you're reeling but try to hang in there.

Jenga60, good to hear you are resting and home. My thoughts are with you while waiting for results.

I will keep you all in my prayers tonight.

So tonight my swollen foob is turning red and bruised looking. My temp is currently 99.5. All signs of infection according to PS. I hope it goes away and I am overreacting because. The uncomfortable tightness has become all out level 7 or 8 pain. If I can't have surgery Thursday, I don't know what I'll do. Cry...I'm sure I'll do that... So sick of these TEs!!

Well it became official yesterday. BMX next Monday, 3/30. I opted for no reconstruction. I'll be having my port for chemo placed at that time as well. Overall, I'm ready for it. I've had my fighting gloves laced up & ready to go so I'm anxious to start throwing some punches back & kicking some cancer booty!!! ;)

    hi everyone,

Just thought I'll say hello. I'm 4 weeks post bilateral mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction. It was a challenging period and I still wonder when my red breast syndrome is going to leave my right foob.

Ialso had an infection scare but turned out I was ok. Nevertheless, I was put on all sorts of strong antibiotics and sent my body to go haywire (had esophagitis, dermatitis). Crossing fingers for you.

Sending hugs over to everyone's way.

Hang in there Amy. Is it a seroma? If so, they are no fun. Painful and tight and awful. I had one from one of the 7 needle aspirations I had the same week I had my stereo tactic. It was crap. Swollen, bruised and just crap. But, I've got my fingers crossed it doesn't delay anything for you. Try and keep going strong and I'm sending you a sisterly hug through cyber.

Good luck GypsyJo. Sending you good thoughts.

Great attitude ERN!!! Loving the vibe!!! 👊

Friday is drawing near. Nervous as heck. Up at 4.30 am since Last Friday. I'm like a rooster. Hah

Hi everyone!!! I hope all of you with surgeries within the past few days are resting comfortably.

I just spoke to my BS. She confirmed I won't need radiation if I have BMX. That brings me one step closer to a final decision. PS apt on 4/2, oncologist visit 4/3 and I will hopefully have all the puzzle pieces to make a final decision. I work for an eye surgeon who's wife just went through her own experience. They highly recommended the PS. He is the Chief of PS at St Francis Hospital.

It was also amazing to hear about Angelina Jolie today. While I consider myself an intelligent woman I've never really thought about cancer nor looked into it as much as I have these past two months. I did lose my dad to lung cancer from smoking in 1995 and my sister is a 5 year cancer survivor (LX/chemo/rads). Now that I'm in my own fight, it all seems so much more real. Does that sound terrible? My sis sailed through her cancer treatment but did lose her colon 2 years after cancer treatment to ulcerative colitis. We almost lost her. Drs said not related but who knows. She is doing great now.

    Warm wishes to all.

    Hi everyone

I'm 36 and got the result of my FN on Monday, no other information than it is cancer... At the moment. Friday I will have a mastectomy on my right side, my left has gone 4 years ago for a 7cm Dcis.

I'm hoping to be lucky like 4 years ago and to finish my treatment with just surgery but who knows. Every small pain I have at the moment in my mind is the cancer running through my body!

I have decided to go on and have a genetic test too if positive I will go on to remove my ovaries asap.

    I have a 6 years old and a 3years old boys !!

Thank you for been here and good luck with your treatment to all of you!

    Ciao
