I know it's late, but may I join you? I don't post much, but I have gathered so much information and strength from BCO and this thread. I had a BMX with TE on 3/18 - ILC in two quadrants of the right breast, and it could not be saved. I decided I would rather suffer the immediate stress of the BMX than years of screening anxiety. I'm slowly recovering; the drains are the worst part by far.

Wishing all of you recovering a speedy recovery and good luck to those with upcoming surgeries.

    thank you Audrey

Actually second time around is easier

I'm still scare but I can control my emotions a little better then 4 years ago.

I also decided last year that there is no point in living for tomorrow, I need to live my today.

This is something that a lot of people say but there is a big differencefrom saying it and feeling it.

I want to be happy every day.

    Ciao

    elisewin,

Sorry to hear about your second diagnosis. I hope that the pathology is as good as it can be.

    LRGinger,

Of course you can still join! You have been added to the list. I hope you can get those drains out soon, it is amazing how much better things feel and look once they are gone

Thinking of Butterly, Ladyduffer and Valentine today. I hope you sail through surgery. Check back in when you can.

Gypsyjo, hope you are feeling good and are home soon.

Welcome to our new groupies, our March list is getting so long. It amazes me how many of us there are out there. I hope everyone is coping and focusing on the positive things in life.

I am comfortably recovering from my surgery yesterday: LX, SNB (2 nodes) and InterOperative Radiation Therapy (35min). I was a bit nauseous yesterday and a little light headed today, but not much. I do feel a little like a muscle pull, but barely at all. My scars are surgically glued and not bandaged.  I am actually feeling the best I have in weeks.

Amazing how stress has an effect on you prior to surgery. The Radioactive Injection and Wire Insertion were a uncomfortable but brief, no where near the pain I was expecting.

I thank all those on the discussion boards that recommended getting a prescription for EMLA crème and taking an anti-anxiety pill prior for making it. It was not the standard, but my doctor did prescribe it after my request. The nurse at the Wire Insertion said I was the only one she had that never flinched and will be recommending it as policy to prescribe the EMLA crème in advance. I also used a bit of it where they inserted the IV and didn't feel a thing.  I will get the results on Apr 2 after the breast clinic team reviews my pathology report.

My thoughts to the rest of my surgery sisters this week. May all go well.

    Joanne

Glad to hear you are doing well gypsyjo . I had my needle for my SNB this Afternoon. No pain just a little sting that lasted about 2 seconds. I was prepared for much worse.

I have my wire placed just before surgery in the morning. Much calmer but that now .

    • Hope your recovery is speedy and the path report is good . It will be April 21st before I receive mine . IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG 4 WEEKS

Tomorrow is finally the day! I called for my surgery time and they told me to be there at 6am! I am first case and my surgery should start around 7:30. I'm so ready to get these TEs out. They were never inflated all the way but my seroma in my left breast has made it very uncomfortable. Anyway, tomorrow should be my last cancer related surgery for now! Getting silicone implants.

Amy, good for you on your final surgery! I hope you feel better.

Joanne, glad things went well and that you're feeling so good.

I just got done with PS and both drains came out today. I can take a shower, woo hoo! I was all prepared for pain when the drains came out and I didn't feel a thing!

If I can make one suggestion, it would be to buy some miralax. I tried colace with last surgery and it didn't work but tried miralax this time and it worked like a champ. Those narcotics can really stop you up and that can be miserable.

Good luck, Amy. Your surgery will be something to celebrate! Glad you w.ill be feeling better.

Kim, Yeah for the drains out! Take a nice long shower!

Canadiancampmama, the wire insertion goes quickly and it is a very very fine wire. You'll do fine.

Justamy.. Good luck tomorrow! I look forward to that day!

Best wishes for your upcoming surgeries tomorrow kabana, canadiancampmama, ajbenefield12y, and Amy. My prayers are with you and with everyone awaiting results.

I had my BMx first thing Monday morning and I got out of hospital today. Surgery went well and 3 lymph nodes were removed on the right. I had 3 drains but 2 of them were removed in hospital before I left this morning! I got to go home with only one drain which I will most likely have removed when I go see my BS on Tuesday.

After my surgery, I took one pain pill about 12 noon and another about 4pm. After that, I did not feel the need for any more so I've been completely off pain killers since Monday evening!

I'm feeling good physically, but had a bit of a melt down when I completely scrambled my computer in the process of trying to post a photo with an update on fb. I finally got it mostly back to the way it was with some help from dh and youtube.

I missed these boards while I was in hospital and had been so looking forward to getting back on-line that messing up my computer was just what sent me over the edge. I'm feeling much better now. You all have been my life-line. Thank you <3

Great to hear from you eaglemom! Smooth healing wishes to you

My thoughts are with all of you heading in to surgery today.

It is hard to believe the month is almost over....

My Steri-Strips came off yesterday. Mini-victory as they were getting pretty itchy even though I was trimming them down. Incisions look good, though not as good as they were looking before surgery (he went back through IMF). Hopefully he clears me to start massaging them at my 4 weeks post-op visit as that seemed to really help them last time (they ended up looking flat, very lighlly pink, and quite fine).

Thinking positive thoughts for all of you in surgery today. The anticipation is worse than anything!

It's so helpful to read about all your recoveries - really puts things in perspective and makes me feel not so alone.

Eaglemom, all I can say is wow, you are a rock star! You only came home with one drain and are already off pain meds? That is awesome!

Good luck to everyone heading into surgery.

Out of surgery. Everything seems to have gone fine. I did have fluid under my tissue expanders. the surgeon sent some of it off to be tested. If it is an infection, I will have to take antibiotics. The worst case scenario is that they would have to take out the implants so the infection can heal. Hopefully that won't happen though. for now all is good. I'm just a bit loopy from the pain meds. Hugs to everyone. Amy

Glad you are out of surgery and those TEs are gone, Amy.

I am crossing my fingers and toes for you that there is no infection and your implants get to stay where they are!

Hoping canadiancampmama and ajbenefield12 are having a smooth surgery and recovery today. Looks like its me and elisewin up tomorrow. My period showed up days early at 4.30 am this morning. Good times. Cramps with just Tylenol is lame.

Nerves and sleep deprived makes me a fun girl. Not! Haha But I'm trying to hang in think tomorrow just needs to happen no matter how scary it all seems.

Just breathe. All part of the process...
