Arimidex Side Effects
Does anyone have little or none SE with Arimidex? I have only read terrible things. And, how about blood clots? My family has a history of blood clots. My sister almost died with one in her lung.....in the hospital for 10 days on heparin drip. Now, she is on a blood thinner. Also, niece and father. Any studies or research on how many women actually do have SE? I googled the drug and read what the SE were on the label. Scares the heebe jeebes out of me!

I really haven't had a problem. I have always been stiff, and with the generic, I think maybe I was a little stiffer and had some hip pain but I changed to name brand and that seems better. I do wake up sweating, but its not that serious.

I have been on Arimidex since last December 2nd and have only had increased hot flashes. I do work out at least 5 times a week. My MO said there is a direct correlation between exercise and reduced SEs.

I have not heard of blood clots being an issue with the AIs, only tamoxifen. Would like to know if that's wrong because I have a family history of that too.
I've been on anastrazole for about 6 weeks now and no SEs yet. Had bad joint pain on tamoxifen and it has not improved since I've been off it. But no worse either, so far anyway.

I haven't started yet, but being ER+/PR+ at 100% I expect to be on hormonal therapy soon. I have had mini-strokes (TIAs) in the past and normally am on anti-clotting medication as well as low-dose aspirin. Heart issues run in my family. I also have the same clotting concerns. I found this page on the website that I plan on taking with me to my doctor appointment. It has proven most useful in knowing which treatments I won't consider as well as the tradeoffs for those I would consider. Good luck with your choices.

I've been on Arimidex for about a month now and the only SEs I've had are hot flashes and perhaps a little more joint pain in my thumbs which have been painful anyway for years. I also work out at least 6 days a week and I believe that will help. My oncologist said the threat of blood clots is worse when seated for long periods (ie. plane trips, car trips....excessive sitting of any kind), so I try to limit my sitting as much as possible. I also take a low dose aspirin daily.

Thank you to those of you who have replied. I plan to do more research on this, and will post with whatever I learn.
We are all in this together.
