Generic vs. Name brand: Anastrozole vs. Arimidex

Options

Has anyone who has taken both anastrozole (generic) and arimidex (name brand) found differences in their effect on your body?

Is one more effective than the other? Less side effects? Thanks!

I think the name brand has let my blood pressure go back to pre meds and has seemed to have stopped some serious hip pain I had been having. I'm doing an experiment right now to see if it matters. I'm on my 3rd week of name brand.

I'm interested in this topic also. I just started having really bad stomach pain, digestive upset and some lightheadedness this past week that is really slowing me down; and I have never had this sort of problem in my life. I'm taking Teva brand of anastrozole but am wondering if Arimidex might be worth trying.

If your insurance won't pay it, you can get it from the company through a pharmacy in Florida, by mail. I am doing it that way.I figured if I could prove to my insurance company that it did matter, I would have a better argument than if I had not even tried the name brand.

mrighter - I took Teva brand anastrozole for 3 years and I almost daily hip pain. A year ago, my pharmacy stopped carrying Teva and I didn't want to switch to a brand made in India so I started to get Armidex through AstraZeneca's Arimidex Direct program. I still have get hip pain but once I went on the Arimidex I noticed that I stopped having the extreme stiffness that I used to develop after sitting for awhile. I don't believe that there has ever been a study looking at effectiveness of Arimidex vs. generic Anastrozole.
