I've been on Tamoxifan about a month with little side effects besides slight weight gain, hair loss and tiredness. Nothing to be too happy about , but I've avoided the harsher things about menopause I hear on here. Now, the doctor wants to give me ovary suppression shots once a month because my breast cancer was estrogen positive. I've also got simple hyperplasia in my uterous and they don't want me taking progesterone to bring on my period because my breast cancer was progesterone positive .I'm nervous for the shots for real now, about being thrown in to menopause with hotflahes and possibly more side effects from the armoatase inhibitor they'll switch me too. Has anyone had ovary suppression shots? What are they like? How did you handle it?

I guess everyone is different, but I got my first shot of Zoladex a few weeks ago and I've had no side effects. I was already in chemopause (haven't had my period since September 2014), and had experienced some "warm flushes" from time to time. But Zoladex really didn't do much to me, and I haven't really noticed much since I started aromasin (my AI). I guess the SEs could still be coming; I just haven't noticed anything. Good luck!

I've been on Lupron injections for about 9 months. My main SE is increased hot flashes (Chemo and Tamoxifen were already giving me some). My MO is choosing to keep me on Tamoxifen while doing ovarian suppression, not switching to an AI. I do have some vaginal dryness also.

I have been on Zoladex shots for over 6 months now and didn't notice any side effects. The side effects I had seemed to be from Femara. After the first few months I started giving the shots to myself :)

Elaine There, good to know. I'm glad for you!

Kendra, Thanks for the important info to be aware of!

Fizzdon52, That is interesting about the self adminsteration, had not heard that before!

I guess I will just hope to be lucky, and you all make the side effects sound manageable so thank you I feel better prepared.

I have been on Zoladex (+ Tamoxifen which I have already been taking for a year) for about 5 weeks now and no side effects yet. Im wondering if they take time to kick in. I am 29 and premenopausal.
