JustAJennifer, I hope it goes away. I'm always worried about lymphedema (trunkal?)

geesh I didn't even think of that. My oncologist did an exam and said it was fairly common and can probably be fixed in the later surgery. The PS's nurse said it's something that's always there, but I was only feeling it because of the missing breast tissue that would normally cover that area. It just feels so hard- like a firm knot

I have finally read through all the posts....wow a lot happened in February. I'm so sorry that I was not on to support and encourage each one you. This appears to be an amazing group full of love and patience. You all were in my thoughts and prayers though. I had my double MX on February 2nd. I really don't remember much about the day of surgery. I remember going into the surgery room........and that's about it. I don't remember who was with me (although I have been told now). In fact I've been told a lot of things. Evidently the anesthesia did a number on me. Always before I have woke up in recovery throwing up and in pain. I don't even remember recovery and did not throw up at all. But my boyfriend and my mom said I was hallucinating when I was back in my room. My boyfriend (bless his heart) wrote down things I was saying. I look back at them now and just laugh. I don't know what I was thinking or where these things came from. I do have 2 rabbits that are my babies so some of what I was saying had to come from them. So just for giggles:

    • I told them that rabbits chin to mark things....which is true but I also said that Reeces(one of my rabbits) was hopping around.
    • Bugs don't have a lot of blood. It's on the internet.
    • We use the web cam so we can do some work.
    • You don't stamp on the bugs. But it destroys the trust.
    • I haven't heard the report. It's in the works.
    • Did she get fired or did she quit.
    • I have a zipper in the middle over there. I washed it and it's fine.
    • Is that real? The baby with the third eye ball. It's right here.
    • We don't care who we disrupt around here. It's our house.
I really have no idea where any of that came from and don't even remember saying any of it but I do remember that every time the nurse came in I would say I have to go to the bathroom and she would tell me I had a catheter in. So by the early morning I would tell her I have to go to the bathroom but I have a catheter in. I guess I was just trying to save her the time of saying I had a catheter in.
I do know now that they put in 133mx-15- (and what looks like a T). Not sure if it is a T or what that part means. They put in 200cc's and I went for my first fill last week. Had 100cc's put in. It was not bad. I am still in a lot of pain and have been the whole time. I just can't tell much difference between the pain of surgery and the pain after the first fill. I will be getting filled every week. I came home on the 4th and until this weekend have been sleeping most of the day and the night. Spent first 3 weeks in a recliner but have spent the past 2 nights in bed. Most of my pain is under the bottom of the TE's and the right arm pit. The only took 1 SN. and in the middle of my chest......between the TE's. I did have the onco type test and it came back a 21 so my oncologist said it was up to me if I wanted chemo. I decided not to have it. My SN was clean and I have clear margins. I can not go on tamoxifin because I have a blood clotting disorder and am on Coumadin so she is talking about putting me on a once a month shot that will shut down my ovaries.
Sorry for such a long post.......I do hope everyone is healing well and has an awesome day!
    Gentle hugs to all.

    Hello Sisters,

Let me start by quoting Diane....I have spent the last 72 hours as "A Blithering Mess!"

So many of you have described so much of what I am going through. I was doing great until Friday.

I have been going through so much pain, it made me weak! I have been in a fog...

Just when I thought I was finally at my breaking point, I was sure this would be the final straw for me, I was sent to my PS's office.

When the nurse saw me a day earlier than my appointment, she said I was fine.

They saw how nervous I had become.

All I can say is God is so faithful really!

They removed the cords that felt like they were strangling those boobs!

I can't believe how good it felt when they removed those things! I looked away and held the hand of the other nurse as I held a little lollypop in my other hand!

Yes!!! I took the orange flavored dumdum that they offered me!!!!

I didn't want a lollypop, but my mother's intuition knew I needed to distract my senses from what was happening!  I was mothering me!!!!

The pain immediately subsided!!! I was apologizing to them for being a big baby.

They encouraged me to breathe and that my pain was very real! They reminded me that I was in the OR 6 hours.

They were saying how the PS had worked longer on me than expected, because so much was removed!

And the fact that those TEs were filled. I was suppose to get a fill tomorrow, but they are holding off until next week to give me some to be without pain.

Spasms now in my chest I have to stop typing.

    Robin

RAK. I'm so sorry you were hurting but it sounds like it's getting better. Be good to yourself and let them know w it hurts. I bet you are soooo glad to have those drains out! I had mine for 3 weeks and it was terrible. Lay around tonight and get some much needed rest. Hugs..Amy

Good news at my PS today. Actually the best news I could hope for! He said that I do not have to get filled because now that the swelling has gone down, he can see that I have plenty of skin for those C cups that I had before! We scheduled my exchange for March 26. Then just nipple reconstruction and I'm done with treatment... Other than my 5 years of Arimadex...so now I just have to decide saline or silicone. What do you think?

    I'm going to rest now.

    Good Night and Breathe....

My surgeon was hoping the surgery would take care of it, but one sentinel node is positive, so more treatment to come :(

Drain was removed today. ALND pathology showed 2 of 14 nodes positive but the cancer cells were dead from chemo. So on to Rads. Love, Jean

My pathology report is out !!

Clear margins thanks God !! The surprise was i had not only invasive lobular carcinoma !! But something called pleomorphic lobular carcinoma in situ !! This one is new to me !!!

The last part of my report says the following : One of seven axillary lymph nodes shows a macro metastasis .There is no definitive extranodal extension . However, some microfoci of invasive carcinoma are identified in axillary soft tissue away from nodes .

I just read this now !! And am freaking out !! Am calling my MO first thing in the morning !!

Does that mean i still have cancer !!???? :-(

Clean nodes. YAY. I took a Percocet for the ride home from the hospital. Felt so loopy and dopey. I just took a tamadrol but I am starting to feel the start of an angry pain that I beieve will be around for a while.

I'm a little late to the party but had my bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders on 2/26. They had originally scheduled it for 2/12, but I rescheduled because that's my sons birthday and I was afraid if I died, it would forever run his birthday.

So I pulled through but feel like death! The first three days were awful. Yesterday I started feeling better but today, I feel crappy again. I'm very dizzy when I stand. I have four drains. The two from the healthy breast are draining small amounts of pinkish fluid. The two from the cancer breast are draining dark blood. Can anyone give me insight on this? I have an appt with the plastic surgeon tomorrow.

And one more question, my breast surgeon said she was very surprised by how much the PS filled up the expanders. I'm close to my normal size! I'm not sure if some of that is swelling? Also they seem like they are both off to the sides! They feel like they are sort of under my armpits! Is that normal

welcome shoppingmommy24: does the dark blood look like clots when you empty drains? If yes I would call surgeon. It shouldn't be draining straight up blood just fluid tinged with blood...some stringy stuff is normal that's just protein clumps you should not have blood clots coming out.

    Shoppingmommy24, welcome

I'm glad you are on this side of surgery, you will feel better when those drains are removed. Listen to Nurseshark on that.

I have the TEs also, pretty full but I still need more stretching to do for my implants.

You can look on I think it is about page 20 - 21 to see some pics of a few of us.

Where did you have it done?

    Love Robin

There aren't really any clots, but I do have that stringy stuff in most of them. But that one is still draining dark blood.

I live upstate, RAK1. I had it done in Rochester, NY

Welcome shopping mommy! Im glad you are on the road to recovery. I would call the doctor first thing in the morning just to be sure about the fluid coming out of the drains. I called mine if I had any question at all. It's probably fine, but I would call to be sure.

    God is so good!

I am sore, but this is doable!

I went to the BS today, she said they got all the DCIS during surgery, none anywhere else!

As for now, no further treatment is needed!

    I am shocked!

I am so glad and grateful!

I am so glad I made the decision to remove both and reconstruction!

Now I can heal and recover!

I pray all good news for you ladies moving forward.

I will still be here sharing and encouraging with you, we will continue to move step by step on our journeys!

I love you all for your strength and kind hearts may you receive back all good you give out!

    Love Robin

I will continue to lay in the arms of my Lord!

Robin - I'm so happy to hear your news! I hope your recovery goes smoothly.

I just had my first fill yesterday and it didn't hurt at all. PS only put in 25cc's which I'm happy about, so no pain at all today either. PS is taking it slow, which is fine with me because I'm not sure how much bigger I really want to go. I'm just hoping that it's possible to have my exchange by the end of May because June is a crazy month with the end of school and getting my kids ready for camp. then I'll be away on and off the month of July. So, if I can't do it by the end of May I will likely wait until the fall. I'm OK if that's what it has to be.

dancingdiva, I did too when mine were removed.

jabec, I am so glad no fills this week I need to catch my breath.

I'm not sure how long it will take to stretch my skin enough, surley not as long as expected.

    Whatever....It will be on time.

My youngest will be here Friday.

I can't wait to see, smell and touch her as it has been since September when I last saw her!

Under my arms and my chest is very sore.

    I will take it easy.

    Love Robin

Hi everyone. Glad to see everyone is doing well

I'm one day post op from SNB. Feeling ok. Good range of motion. Surgeon cut just above left breast but not in underarm. I do feel pain from incision and in the armpit but resting and icing is helping. Next step is radiation consult.
