Hi All

I have finally decided to stop tamox and go on Femara due to SOFT study results.  My MO has been pushing for this but we were just waiting for the results to be released.  Im on ovarian suppression right now as I am still pre-meno

My question is how long between stopping and starting a new therapy? my MO said one month but I have read on these boards a lot less time - like a week or two

I was just wondering what everyone else's MO is advising them.  Im paranoid about being off tamox that long

i hope Femara is kind to me :)

My MO said two weeks between stopping tamoxifen and starting anastrozole was long enough since I wasn't switching due to any toxic effects. He also said it can take an entire 3 months for the one drug to fully leave your system; while it takes another 3 months for the new drug to be fully working. I'm sure there are many opinions about that among MOs.

I've read here about a number of women being on a month long drug-free break; so evidently it's not considered super risky. But your MO knows the particulars of your case base; maybe ask you MO some follow-up questions.

I've just been taken off Femara for two months to see what medication is causing my side effects. I am also on monthly Zoladex injections which I also have to stop. I had ILC. My Oncologist assured me there would be no problem with this and medication is often stopped for this long for those waiting for surgery?
