Good morning,

I was diagnosed with atypical Lobular Hypersplasia through a core biopsy in early February. Yesterday (02/25/15) I was diagnosed with LCIS through the follow up extensional biopsy. They want to place me on Tamoxifen.

Here's my question...Has anyone here been diagnosed with cancer while taking Tamoxifen?

SMV--I don't have an answer to your question, but I can share my experience. I was diagnosed with LCIS over 11 years ago (at age 46) and my risk is further elevated by family history of bc (mom had ILC many years ago; lumpectomy, radiation, and tamoxifen, and is a survivor of over 28 years and doing well at nearly 86!). I had a lumpectomy, took tamoxifen for 5 years and have now taken evista for over 5 years; both meds tolerated well with minimal SEs. I continue with high risk surveillance of alternating mammos and MRIs every 6 months, with breast exams on the opposite 6 months. I have not needed any further biopsies in all these years since my diagnosis. The thing with LCIS is that you don't need to rush to make decisions, since iit is non-invasive. you could try tamox and see how you tolerate it.
