Hi All,
I was looking for some information to help with the questions i have flying around my head and I was so happy to find you all! Its really helped reading everyones story and seeing the bravery and people coming together!

I am looking for slight reassurance from experienced people! I am hoping that you all know some wonderful strong statistic telling me that amount of people sent for biopsies vs people diagnosed with bc is very very low...
So that was my question!! Whats your experience?

A bit about me is Ive been for a mammogram/ultrasound today and been asked to come back for a biopsy tomorrow morning. The lump is 1.5 cm and she is quite sure that it is not a fluid eek. Ive never had any redness, swelling or discharge. But I am only 32 with no history of bc in the family... I am just really hoping that my tiny boobies havent turned against me :(

It helps just to write this... thanks for listening guys.
Bring on the stats! *hopeful grin*

Veronica :)

Hello Veronica,  Did  you get a copy of the mammo and ultrasound reports?  Always ask for copies - they are your records! Tell them to fax it to you if possible.  Be a little pushy.   And keep them in a "file" on  yourself so they will never get lost.  That being said,  you are young and chances are very very strong that this is a benign finding.  Your mammo/ultrasound reports may indicate a "Birads" score.  The scoring goes from 1 to 5.  But even a Birads 4 finding is about 80% benign.  So odds speaking, everything is in your favor.  Please let us know how you do.  Mary

Thank you Mary and ''moderators'' its no nice to have such a swift and kind reply.
I didnt get copies of the tests but I will be sure to ask for them tomorrow when they do the biopsy/s and I'll be sure to be a bit pushy. I am in holland so they are used to that ;)
Thanks for the good vibes everyone, ill let you know how it goes x

    HI Everyone,

I said I would get back to you with how it went...
The biopsy itself wasnt exactly a party but was ok, I get the results on the 5th. I saw everyone's advice to ask the radiologist what their opinion was and it she said that she ''has very serious concerns''
Which made me crap my pants...
The upsides are that the bump was only 1.5 cm and when they checked the lymph glands/armpit they only found tiny nodes (2mm) so she is not sure it it has spread and if it has maybe its only local. She didnt want to go into details....

So all in all not the best start to it all...
I just needed to tell someone, thanks for listening :)
    Veronica x

    Hi Veronica,

I went in for a biopsy today as well. The US found not one, but two lumps and an inflamed lymph node in my arm pit.  The tech asked if my surgeon had talked to me at all about types of breast lesions- he hadn't.  Then he started talking about fibroadenomas and phyllodes tumors, which he said were often B9.  And then, of course, he said there was just no way to know until after the pathologist sees it.  Sigh.  I'm 32 as well, and I have decided to have the lumps out no matter if they are cancer or not.  They scared me and now they have to die.  Well, I'm sending you hugs and strength that you can get through until you see your results, and to everyone on this community.  We will all be fine.  No matter what our diagnoses. We will all be fine.

    Hey LittleblueFlowers,

I hope that your biopsy went well today and didnt hurt too much. Mine was ok only the second ''grab'' on the biopsy stung like shi*t! After a day or two it stopped to ache so thats ok :)

Its tough being so young and facing this :S I keep reading that if it is the big C we are a more likely to have something more aggressive than those older than 35... but the margin of difference looks small....

Thanks for your wishes of strength and hugs! I am getting there.. I get my results Thursday so its just a couple more sleepless nights and then I'll know what Im dealing with. But to be honest Im filling my pants after speaking with the radiolologist and I just need to hear what the doctor has to say Thursday and see what decisions I need to make. When do you get your results back? How are you doing? Here is me wishing you big hugs and good wishes until then! Let me know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

    Veronica x

Hi Veronica, I so know what you are going through. I get my results Thursday hopefully and am trying to get ready for the worst. Will your doctor call you? I'm not sure if they will give me the results on the phone or if I will have to go in. Just if he calls me in, I will be a wreck. What are you doing to stay sane? Are you going to work? Have you told your family? I did and now I'm kind of regretting it because they are so worried. Well honey I hope you can sleep tonight...I'm not gonna lie a few drinks help! I know it raises our risk of BC but at this point.....well lots of love to you...keep me posted!

    Hey,

So we get our results on the same day eh?!

I have to go to the hospital to get my results as they won't give them over the phone if they are good or if they are bad. Which means that I've had to change my holiday plans which is a pain but at this time I don't care I just want my results! It was tricky to move my holiday plans around and it's ended up such that I get back from holiday and go to my appointment straight off of an overnight plane from Canada to Amsterdam like a rock star. Lol how ridiculous! The alternative was to stay put and miserable so I decided to f it and go!

Because of being away with my boyfriend (he's canadian) I've been pretty distracted so that's great. I don't think I could go to work these days. Have you been able to work?

I haven't told my family because I want to wait for the results first. It was super hard but as I was going away I thought it best. Depending on what they say Thursday I'll probably go and see them in England (I'm English, living in Amsterdam for my work) at the weekend to go and break it to them. I hope that your family is able to find some peace and you all hold up well until you get your results.

I had a few boozy days when I first found out and now I'm trying to ease off. But no promises for Thursday!

I hope that you are well and sweet dreams for tonight X

Veronica, You are lucky you have such a packed schedule!  I am trying to work, but as you can see I am spending a lot of time on this forum trying to draw positive energy.  My Dad is really worried, but now my Mom has been calling in the lady brigade, and they are all like "you found a lump?  Eh, I had  that, its no big deal, even if its cancer.  I don't really even remember it." But now my poor boob is sore and bandaged from 3, count'em 3 biopsy incisions. They found two tumors and an enlarged lymph node. I feel like I'm cycling through the ten stages of grief hourly.  GAH!   Today can just go away though.  We need our results so we can start making a plan, am I right?  Be strong, love and hugs!

Soldieron- Wow, that 's a long time to wait, I feel so bad for you!  Hugs and prayers!

Wrinklequeen- How are you doing, Lady?  Hanging in there?  What are you doing to keep busy? Hugs and prayers!

    Hi Ladies,

@Winklequeen of course you can be in my thoughts also, here is me sending you best wishes and good thoughts. I hope that you was able to get some good sleep and keep yourself busy until your results come in x

@Soldieon that is a long time to wait! I hope that you are holding up well. Its probably because of the weekend or maybe even something mundane. Im thinking of you anyways x

@littleblueflowers you are so brave going to work! I just wouldnt be able to. I was a mess until i saw my boyfriend, like crying into my scarf on the aeroplane to see him mess. :S I never used to understand when people used to say that they ''couldnt stop crying'' after bad news. I used to think it a strange thing to say and wonder how someone could constantly cry. But now I get it. Its not that you cry the whole time its just that there is always a small tear in your eye on the go that can at the slightest wave of thoughts become a quiet stream... or maybe thats just me! So i guess I know what you mean about the cycling through emotions :S its been a rollercoaster for sure! I am lucky with my bf, since ive been with him its been better, ive only shed a couple of tears. I guess now is the time to enjoy right? why waste this ''healthy'' time with tears? Plus like many people say the vast majority of these bumps tend to be B9. (I just wish my realist of a radiologist hadnt pretty much told me that I have the big C.

ok, enough rambling for now. Its time to make this day pass by fast, get my butt on the plane and then get my results.

Good luck ladies, I am thinking about you all and wishing you all the best, care and hugs, Veronica xxx

    littleblueflowers,

I've been thinking about you, wondering if you heard yet. :)

I have a feeling the results might not come until Friday, or later. Just a feeling. How about you? Have you heard anything yet?

I just retired from teaching kindergarten, so I don't have a job to go to. I'm 58, and so far since retirement I've gone through 2 rounds of basal cell carcinoma removed from my scalp! That was out of the blue, but this breast cancer thing is REALLY out of the blue!!!

I hope all of us on here get good results, and soon! Let us know when you hear something. I'll be praying for benign results for us all!

    Love & Hugs,

    Wrinklequeen

    Veronicafrances101,

Thanks for including me in your positive thoughts! :)

Have you heard anything yet? I'm praying it's grear results with the word benign included! :)

I'll let you Ladies know when I hear something. I think mine might be Friday or later, but it could be as early as today. I'm sitting here with a pad of paper and pencil by every phone, just in case!

I wrote down bullets of things to check off or write results in next to, when they call. One of those bullets is "benign" - let's hope we all hear these words! "

Love and prayers to all of you. Let us know when you hear the news. :)

@Wrinklequeen- I got a call from my surgeon's office a while ago telling me my path report was in and asking me to come in to discuss it at 3:15 today. I think I've lost my sense of humor at this point.....I'm reading as much about cancer diagnosis and next steps here as I can to be prepared for the worst. I'll leave work at about 2 and go get my husband so he can come with me to my appointment- As scared as I am, he is way worse, just because he is trying to be strong for me. He's already lost three family members to cancer. I feel so bad for him. I wish I could shield him from what I know is coming, but there just doesn't seem to be a way to do that. Have you heard yet? Any word from Veronica? After flying yesterday, she's gotta be wrecked...hugs sweetie and good thougts for good results for you!

    Hi Ladies,

So I got my results today and it seems the radiologist was right and I do have the big C in my breast. They are fairly sure it hasnt spread to my lymph nodes but they did a second check today to be sure.
So 2 hours off the plane and I was diagnosed and off for more tests. Ive now had the second lymph check an MRI, blood test for genetic info and tomorrow I have the appointment with the Gyno to see what to do about my future fertility. *sigh*
Next week the team will meet and then I'll find out what their plan is but the doctor already said that due to my age they are going tho throw everything at it.
I was hoping for a better outcome but even though I dont know the exact stage and type I have the doctor seems to think I have an almost certain chance to beating this.

I hope that you all get better results than me! Statistically I just made your chances of a better result higher ;)
Take care and best wishes ladies,

    Veronica x

I just saw that you got your results. I'm so sorry about the news.

I can tell from your posts that you are strong, and that you can beat this. I think once you meet with the Doctors and get a plan going, some of the fear of the unknown will go away - and be replaced with determination. :)

Keep posting and let us know how everything is going. Hugs and prayers for strength for you are headed your way. :)

Veronica: - I am also so sorry you have this news. This 'club' of ours is one we never applied for. There are are so many members on this site that will be with you on your journey through treatment. I got through chemo, surgery and radiation after being diagnosed in Nov 2013, and found it was so much easier than I thought it would be and once I had a plan it felt more doable. Allow yourself to be upset and to feel angry, these are early days and you will feel better soon. best wishes Sarah xo

littleblueflowers: I wish you get a good result this afternoon. xo

I am sure that you are right and I will feel better when I have a plan and what I am dealing with is all defined.

I hope that it is going well for you littleblueflowers :)

Well I just got my results. Bad news. Cancer in two tumors and a lymph node. Did my previous surgery blood work and chest ex ray and am meeting with an oncologist tomorrow at 3. If he says I don't need chemo to shrink the tumors before surgery then I'm gonna have a bilateral mastectomy with no reconstruction on this coming monday. Three to 4 weeks after that...chemo and possibly radiation. WeLA after all that waiting....here we go. God everything is gonna change. No hair...no boobs.....

    littleblueflowwers,

I am sooooo sorry for the diagnosis. I was sure it was going to be good news. :(

Was the cancer in one breast, or two? How did you make so many decisions in such a short amount of time - it must have been mind-boggeling!

Is surgery this coming Monday? That's so fast! Did they think a lumpectomy would work, or did they say bilateral mastectomy was the best way to go?

How is your husband? I know you were really worried about him.

I'll check back in with you in a bit - I'm sure your head is swimming! But I know you are strong, and you can and will handle this as it comes.

I hope you'll keep posting. I would like to stay in touch with you. I put you on my friends list.

I find out my results tomorrow, I hope.

Hugs and prayers for you, my friend.

    Love & Hugs,
