Happy Mardi Gras!!!
-
Deep in the soul, below pain, below all the distraction of life, is a silence vast and grand--an infinite ocean of calm, which nothing can disturb; nature's own exceeding peace, which "passes understanding." That which we seek with passionate longing, here and there, upward and outward; we find at last within ourselves.

Love the Mardi Gras pics. Carole. Wow, you were kept busy with all the "loot", huh !!!! There is Mardi Gras tonight over in St. Louis. We never go, but it is going to be soooo cold tonight. I guess in true style -- they don't call it off.
Curious about the deleted post, but guess we will never know. Glad the Mods keep an eye -- but you do wonder what idea someone hoped to present. Obviously had no place here. I'm off to work on a very cold morning with snow everywhere. We shouldn't be getting any more today -- so they say, but the cold and possibility are going to be with us for awhile. Not sure --- but probably close to a week. Sigh !!!! We have had snow before this time of yr. but somehow the truly nearly toasty temps. of a few days ago left me full of hope that this wouldn't happen. Did I jinx us or something????
See you all later -- hoping you all have passable weather.
Blessings,
Jackie

Carole, I am on the couch watching Carnival on tv hoping to get a glimpse of DGS who is at the parades in Metairie. The extended family always dress in matching costumes with a political theme and always get interviewed. Thanks for posting the great photos. I wish you could add the sounds of the marching bands.
BTW, I thought you said you had an issue with your weight. You look marvelous.
Let the good times roll, Becky.
-
Doing some spring cleaning today, going through file drawers. Felt good to purge the Cancer folder, kept reports of course but found a lot that wasn't necessary any more.
-
Carole, your pictures are so cool. Thanks for sharing. The son of a friend of mine used to live in Homa, and was on a krewe (I don't know which one). She and her husband always went to Mardis Gras.

Hello ladies, We were lucky this time and only got about half an inch of snow. Te sun was out and little wind, high was 24, but not too bad without the wind. They are saying we may get more on the weekend. Phoo!
Never been to Mardi Gras, looks like a lot of fun.
Been wrestling with my palpitations, tachy cardia and finding a med that will decrease the frequency. Was in the ER again after a 4 hour bout of tachy. Never had it last that long. Still wondering if it might be the Arimidex. Going to have a stress MOnday and see the electro physiology Cardiologist on the 3rd. Ill see what he thinks. Seems the tachy began/got worse after being on the Arimidex. My onc doesnt think so, its a lesser seen SE, but I cud be one who has it, I think. Wearing a cardiac monitor for 2 weeks, had to buy soft bras again, got rid of the ones from the BC surgery, but wearing a bra to bed to put the monitor in is not great! Geeze, seems all the bras are padded, the last thing I need! Hard to find just a plain non-sport soft one, but finally did.
Was the deleted post the one about too much PINK for breast cancer?
OOOOH watching accidents etc on the snow and ice. Got a niece in Nashville, lot of ice there. Snow is better than ice!
Take care, stay warm and safe.

DH plays with a samba band and they have a long gig tonight for Mardi Gras. Their dancers have some pretty elaborate costumes. Not like NOLA or Rio, but still very fancy. The post was about Ann Silberman's petition on change.org asking that 50% of BC earnings be used for research. I hope there are enough signers to get fund raisers to pay attention.
We're having the warmest winter on record and the snow pack in the mountains is only 11% and melting. 60 here today and sunny. Wonderful now but we depend on snowpack for summer water and electricity. Looking like rationing might be in the future.
-
Those of you who live in areas where Mardi Gras is a big deal may be SHOCKED to hear that there are lots of places in the country that can't pronounce the word and have never heard of the celebration. I never heard a thing about it growing up in Florida or in any of the cities we lived in during our Air Force career. Here in San Antonio you don't hear anything either. I've never been to a Mardi Gras party in all my 66 years!!
-
DH is playing with the samba band tonight for a club here that does Mardi Gras. People from New Orleans take it very seriously. In Houston, we knew the people from NO would not be in the office during the festivities. They never let work interfere with a good time. I made gumbo Monday night for dinner but it needed okra. I've found it at New Year's but most stores here don't carry it.
Sandra, We moved here and people were talking about Settende Mai. It's Norwegian constitution day and there's a big parade in my part of Seattle. One time the king & queen of Norway came and were in the parade. Our little downtown bank had tellers who spoke Norwegian and a travel agency to book their trips back to see relatives.

Lurking
-
I love a lurker in the middle of the night.
-
Is she the purple one? Lurking at all hours of the night? Hey-ya Blondie! How have you been? Are you going to blow that pop-stand soon?
-
Are you balanced? Do you share your time, your energy, your life, as much
with yourself as you do with those around you?. . . . Know your limits.
You are one of the most important people you need to look after and love.
Balance your time, your energy, your life with those around you. You'll be able
to give more freely and joyfully as a result, and you'll be more open to the
gifts of the universe. It's not wrong to give to others.
But it's okay to say yes to ourselves, too.Melody Beattie
-
I love lurkers too. Wishing you well as always --- I am wishing, wishing, wishing -- as hard as I can.
Blessings

hi, got wear long Johns here, was -8 when I got up, but it's another sunny one. Don't feel so cold when it's out and not windy.
Hello to Blondie. Hope you're doing well. Jean
-
Good quote, Jackie. A lot of truth in the advice to be good to ourselves so we have more to give to others.
Glad you're lurking, Blondie.
Hello to everyone. Hope you're keeping warm.

Good Morning, I have ketchup to do but I'm doing it page by page.
Sandra this sounds so promising for Mike, I realize they have to give odds but when u think o it it couldn't be better---(((PRAYERS)))
Anne u do have a lot of places to go, but the best is when u'r with as much of the family that u can be with.
Mommom what a nice vacation u had, it's so nice to get away, and nice to come home too.
Mommarch what can I say, accident , fire al at the same time and now u have it figured out--good thing
Oh when I would have my car and it didn't work, that would upset me so badly,.but u and u'r DH are pretty good about all this confusion.Jackie u have the best attitude--it's like there is always sunshine behind each cloud. But u actually live it, it must be so peaceful in u'r mind is u'r DH like u? It's wonderful.
Rita u'r stil in FL right, u another one who confuses me all the time. U sound good tho.
Carole just drive that car the way it is. That sounds like an awful lot of money, but it always is. When I had my car (it was old) I bought those huge magnetics bandaids and just put them where the car was not feeling well.
Teacher I'm so sorr about Penny--we know hos our furbabies affect our lives and we love them so.
Blondie it's so nice to see u post, but u sound like u'r ready to come home--how can anyone take things from anyone who's recuperating and really can't keep u'r eyes on anything. That's crap--Just hope u'r doing better--(((HUGS)))
-
Welcome Diane, I'm sorry u'r here--no one wants this but these are wonderful women here and u have tons of support. I can't really add to anything cuz everyone gave u great advice--so I'm wishing u well and come back and if u want to share with us and maybe we can make things more comfortable for u.
Sandra I'm so glad u have someone who helps u along the way and praying all goes well.
-
OK I think I've accomplished what I set out to do---ketching up---
Carole I forgot u live by Mardi Gras--always seems so exciting and so many people showing their boobs for necklaces, like that. It's such a big deal there, where other places have nothing to celebrate. All we have is a few different bakery items to celebrate with--u'rs is so much better.
Termite u have to be in this cold for sure--it's below 0 with of course wind chill - 30--that's way to recockulous, just a few minutes outside and u can get frostbite in a second and 1/2 or 2 seconds-whatever, so everyone stay warm who's in this, or stay dry if u'r in the other area where there is all snow.

Oh WOW Cammi! You came back! You little Dickens! You say you finally caught up? How far back do I have to go to see where you left off? I forgot all that you even answered!
And she wrote 3 in a snap! I mean 3 posts right in succession! It's a wonder they let her do that. I think the reason they do, is because they are so relieved she found her way BACK, that they won't reprimand her this time! There should be a time limit.... Once you forget to post on a thread like for maybe a week, you lose your privileges... like in school! You lose your recess time, when you are bad, or write dirty words for all the other kids... like Cammi probably did. And like I did...... ONCE.
That was funny!!!! About the magnetic band-aid! Is that a true story???? I suppose you mean like THIS?
Did you really DO that? By the way that picture looks like my CAR! I'm waiting for warm weather, so I can re-touch a spot on the lower right quarter-panel, where I acciddntly skinned the paint, on that DAMN METAL SHREDDER DH HAD RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY LITTLE CAR RIGHT QUARTER PANEL, and it scraped it! But I will fix it... and do it right... just as soon as the weather warms up like above 70.... which would be probably around JUNE!So anyway.... We are going to get another snow-storm tomorrow night... into Saturday and Sunday... maybe about another foot... I am so sick about all these "1 to 2" turning into 8 to 12" that I could scream! Okay... I know, I know.... we need the water!
I met my old school chum yesterday at Olive Garden... We have stayed in touch since we went to grade-school together... We always order the great hot soup, with salad.... Only This time we got that appetizer 3 million cheese thing, baked and melted, and served with toasty little bread things... SOOOOOOOOOoooooo good! But I only had one bowl of soup... Hah!
So fun to catch up since we last saw each other!
See, I'm trying to say it all, and get it all in now, because Cammi is probably somewhere near, and she just MIGHT see this one too!
xoxoxoxo

LOL! LOVE the bandaid for the car! Only Cammi would come up with that cure.
Chevy, your get-together with your old friend sounds like great fun. I can just imagine how much you two laughed and carried on.
I'm off to my PCP this morning. She's going to be disappointed with my weight gain of about 5 lbs since the apptment last year. I'm hoping to get a good recommendation for a foot dr. She'll also order blood work, which is the best indicator of what's going on with my general health.
Happy Thursday to every.

I live to experience something new each day -
to learn something new,
meet a new friend,
bring joy into someone's life,
feel the wind newly on my skin,
touch a new fear, a new anger,
and with focused intent and good fortune,
find an ample measure of my own joy.

The sunrise this morning was so beautiful.
I guess I'm mostly a lurker, too.
I loved hopscotch, bike rides, roller skating and board games.
Lots of Louisiana transplants here means lots of hoopla about Mardi Gras. I don't get into it though. My DH did come home with beads Tuesday because he said they were in piles all around the office. That was it for us.
Last week I got through a colonoscopy successfully and had a cardio visit yesterday. It was supposed to just be a pacemaker check but because of episodes of tachycardia, my doc brought up ablation again. I just don't want to do it but will if the episodes become more frequent. He said they aren't life threatening so I don't want to think of surgery. I'd like for my DH's time off to be for relaxing instead of hauling me to and fro to see docs like last year
I've been surprised that in spite of the cold that weeds are flourishing and there was a mosquito in my car! My daffodils are peeking up but not blooming yet. It's supposed to be in the 70s this weekend, so I think I will vent some frustration on weeds. I'm ready to play in the dirt and have color outside.

Something interesting to me:
-
Sea otters are so cute. I just loved watching them when we were in Alaska.
-
They are really fun to watch.
Jackie, Is that your kitty in your avatar?
-
Morning gals! I found this video years ago, and I kept it with my "favorites".... There is another one, about why they hold hands, and wrap their babies in sea-weed.
They keep talking about Denver getting up to 16 inches of snow starting tonight! I am a little weary, to say the least, about all these Winter storms ganging up on us, but at least it isn't like further East, with those bone chilling freezing temps, and the mountains of snow! We at least get some days of 60 degree weather in between!
