I've been Ca free for about 2 1/2 years now. I had a heck of a time with recon but as of 10/14 all was done and good. I recently went for my regular MO visit and the blood cancer markers were both double so my MO had me retested-the results were the same. Had a PET/CT scan where nothing "lit up" but it showed some "enlarged" lymph nodes. I had a biopsy of one on my left (cancer) side and one on my right (non-cancer) side. The rt was benign and the left showed BC. I don't have all the results back but once again I'm waiting-which is a killer. I am scared. I've been so positive and strong this whole time but now-not so much! Has anyone else had something like this happen????

Hi Babs;  I started out  stage 1 a year ago.. then stage2 when found in lymph nodes.  then while on chemo,I noticed lumps under my arm and on breast scar tissue ... another surgery removed Many lymph nodes  ( think 28 of 30 positive for ca) so then a stage 3 ( Oct 2014) then a month ago,had echogram for EFR cuz I am on heceptin, they found a lesion on liver... stage 4.  I have never had luxury of NED.  Hope and pray all works well for you.

( my new protocol will be discussed next thurs... needed one more weekend without horrific news.  I am sorry you are scared. I am too. Praying for you.  Sincerely  Mary

    Hugs to you both

Cancer sucks! All I keep thinking is what the heck is taking soooooo long for them to find a cure.

    Beth,

I couldn't agree more. We should have a cure by now!

What's taking so long is the reality the drug companies will not make billions in profits. I think the best hope for a cure still sits with using our own T-cells to fight off cancer. Why can't we put more money into doing that instead of selling "pink" propaganda? I mean -- us stage 3's are TOTALLY and completely "aware" of BC !!!

I just found out that I was approved for Ibrance on appeal-still don't have it yet but at least I'm one step closer to taking it. I hope it's the miracle it's supposed to be!! I switched Drs and am being treated at MSKCC-they have many more options for me.

Trying to stay positive which isn't easy

I'm so sorry that you are facing this fear again. Blood tests are not very reliable! I am facing it again after 10 years cancer free. You can never let go of the fear. Just keep informed and have faith. Best of all to you.

I agree with you completely. There is no profit in the cure. As far as I am concerned "pink" sucks!

    Hi Mary

How are you doing? What course of action are you on?

I just had my scans and there are 2 areas of activity now on my spine. The MO says it's not definitive that they're BC so we'll watch them. Does the waiting and fear ever end???

Hi Babs.....so sorry you have to go all through this again. I too was diagnosed with BC, Triple Negative and had a mastectomy last year, almost to the date of this year I discovered a lump on my right side (mastectomy was on left side) almost under my armpit, 1 month ago. Had a mamo, sonogram, pet scan , MRI which showed nothing else anywhere else in my body. I am going for a second opinion to Rosewel Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY. Waiting right now for my oncologist to inform me what HIS course of treatment would be and I will follow his treatment until I get to Rosewell on the 25th of August. I will keep you in my prayers, don't be scared God will be with you at all times. We have to wonder, don't we, why God put us on this path. But we will survive and we will be stronger for it. God Bless you and hang in there. =) grace

Grace, you are in my prayers as well.

Ibrance is a type of medication to stop the production of hormones (which fuels my BC) . Some drs call it a chemo drug and others don't so I'm not sure as to exactly what it is

Ibrance is a targeted therapy. It targets a pathway that can cause resistance to hormonal therapy. It can increase the time that hormonal therapy works.
