Pregnant while on Tamoxifen (L Breast mastectomy with diep flap
still shocked and weighing my options-
I was diagnosed with BC in June 2014 underwent a L Breast mastectomy with Diep Flap in August 2014
I had my regular period the following month(Sept.2014)
My oncologist recommended Tamoxifen for 10years which I started in Oct. 15,2014 religiously taking Tamoxifen since then until mid January 2015, never had my period ( thought I am already in menopause) been having the worst headaches and feeling nauseated all the time. So I decided to give myself a break --- almost 3weeks after stopping Tamoxifen my symptoms did not go away.
And simply one night , I felt the nudge on my abdomen, moving and surfing - bought a PT and it came out positive. I immediately went to the clinic to have it checked and very surprised - not only that I am surely pregnant but I am too far along, 20weeks gestation.
Have seen my Onco - she did quite mentioned about Tamoxifen can cause birth defects but then again it's my personal choice and asks me to come back after I gave birth and breastfed.
Called my Breast reconstruction for my diep flap then again not concern at all - even if I am too scared that my hip to hip scar will rapture as my pregnancy progresses .
Tough decision. But I am weighing more of keeping my baby--- the strongest being I've known that despite of Tamoxifen , baby continue to grow and moving a lot now.
I am scheduled to meet a High Risk Ob next week and hoping that the tests will come less risk for the baby and me.
Any inputs will greatly appreciated.

Hi,PinkJewel!welcome to the site. I don't know if your post is in the right forum to get a lot of responses and the weekends can be slow! Maybe the mods will move it to the right forum and let you know!
But I just wanted to welcome you and let you know,I care and I am sure others will, too. I can understand your shock, and your feelings of love and concern for that tiny survivor in you! 33 yrs ago,I got pregnant with a copper 7 IUD in me,the emotional turmoil I went thru until I was able to find a Dr to remove the IUD was terrible no one wanted to remove it because it might have caused a miscarriage! They couldn't understand my fear of where the IUD would end up inside the baby if it stayed! Fortunately even though I hadn't planned on being pregnant I was blessed with a beautiful daughter! She will be 34 on Feb 8th!
I hope your consult with your OB goes well and helps to resolve any concerns you may have regarding your pregnancy both concerning your well-being and the health of the baby.
Anyway,I have no real input for what your exact circumstances are but just wanted you to know you are in my thoughts! Best wishes to you
