    Hi all,

    I've been on Tamoxifen for about a year (was diagnosed with IDC), recently had a transvaginal ultrasound that showed enough stuff for my gynecologist to order a hysterogram, which I had last week. The doctor who did it showed me what she says is a polyp and kept saying they're benign and my regular gynecologist will just take it out, etc. Somehow I am still worried, probably because when I was originally diagnosed with cancer the doctor who did my biopsy told me it looked like nothing and she was pretty sure it was an adenoma. I have an appointment with the gynecologist on Thursday and am working myself up fearing that she's going to give me bad news then instead of calling me to tell me I have endometrial cancer or something else terrible. I know the odds are very low and polyps are a common side effect but I can't seem to get down off the ledge. Ugh. It has been quite some time since I posted here, and I thought I was doing well psychologically, but I guess I still have my moments. Anyone with a good story to share or advice? Thank you so much.

    I've had 3 polyps removed since starting on Tamoxifen. All benign. The surgery to remove them is easy enough. I just wish I'd quit growing them.

    While I was on my 5 years of tamoxifen (and once or twice before I started on tamoxifen) I had a uterine polyp every 18 months or so. They were all removed. All were benign. After I stopped tamoxifen, and went through menopause, they've stopped.

    Never on tamoxofen, but had a polyp a few years ago. The procedure was a hysteroscopy, where the doc (and I, and my then-husband who was holding my hand) could see the entire uterine lining and watch the process. There is a great deal of comfort in having looked with my own eyes at the inside of my uterus and seeing normal, normal, normal. After the procedure, we went out and bought a car.

    The very good news is that you will be able to see for yourself that all is fine. Oh, and except for a little cramping while he dilated my cervix, it was totally painless. I do not recommend the major purchase, however. Later on, I tried to go back to the car dealer and had no idea whether to turn left, right, or go straight. Home would have been a good destination.

    I have had several polyps for years, even before Tamoxafin. They are very common and have never given me any trouble. Some people's bodies (like mine) love to grow weird things.

    I do understand your concern, any issue after cancer always puts us in edge.

    I had a polyp removed a year ago after 18 months on tamoxifen. The removal was very easy and once it was gone my periods went from being crazy heavy to normal. The polyp was apparently huge.

    I completely get your worry, as I am the same way. I just went through a round of tests because I haven't had a period in a few months, which seems to be stress related.

    But the polyp I think is very standard and very easily fixed. My doc did tell me that they have a tendency to grow back.
