hahaha - Ducky, you always put a smile on my face.
I'm too lazy to find a quote this morning, but I really love reading them all!!
2TA, love the Leo one.
Glad you found it Meadow. It's one of my favorites.

Meadow, welcome
SDB,
-
My goal in my life is to be as wonderful as my dog thinks I am!
-
-
Oh Ducky....that Italian thing is so true. My DD wanted my meatball recipe....I had no clue the amounts I put in. I had to have her watch me because I never measure anything....I just dump in the amount I feel looks good. We attempted to measure, but that just threw me off!!
Love that foots! Isn't it amazing how much our animals adore us?? It's so very simple for them.
-
SDB, oh darn, I wish your DD had been successful. I would love to know how to make real Italian meatballs and sauce.....
-
2nd....I have given mine to so many peope, I finally decided to pay attention to what I did when I made it......you can PM me if you want, and I will give it to you.....
-
haha Ducky. I think I may PM you to get your recipe and compare ingredients!! I bet our meatball recipes are close to the same. I know we both use Acini di Pepe and Locatelli Romano in our homemade chicken soup!! I fry and drain my meatballs before cooking them in the sauce/gravy. Some of the people in my family just plop them in raw to cook without frying them first. My Grandma never did that!!
2TA, when I make the ravioli for the gang in June, you can come over and watch me make my sauce and meatballs if you want. We can estimate amounts!!
-
Slow.......I know a lot of people (all italian) who put their meat in the gravy[ raw.........
Know what I think is a secret to good gravy too....the right pot.....I don't think Teflon, or non-stick pots cook the gravy as good........I say use stainless steel,or a good alumminum soup pot..........just not Teflon...
I also put 1 onion in my gravy to cut down on th acid in the tomato......
I think your meat matters.....beef, pork, vea for meatballs......a piece of pork for the gravy, and sausage........if not all of that, at least 2........to get great flavor for gravy out of just meatballs, you need a lot of meatball...........
I love to eat the meatballs fried....nothing better then that with a good tomato salad with onions and olive oil........whip up a big bowl of mashed potatoes, and man you got a meal..............yum.........and yes you have to put imported Locateli in your meatballs......and they need at least 2/3 eggs to a lb of meat.......otherwise they wil be sawdust balls..............dry as hell............
So anyone want the entire receipe........PM me.........
-
SDB, will take you up on the offer -- only IF I can help. I can't stand to watch people work while I do nothing (unless I'm unable). Helping Mom is how I learned to cook.
Okay, I have the Acini di Pepe in the cupboard, never heard of Locatelli Romano. So in my book (100% not Italian), that's pretty good. -
Absolutely! I will put you to work!! hahaha

I don't know how you keep track of them all with the small army you have.
-

Dogs are better then human beings, because they
know but they do not tell.

I can still remember our wonderful Italian neighbor calling her kids in for the night (all in one breath), "Roger, Billy, Monica, Betty, Debbie, Theresa, Denise and Dominic, time to get ready for bed!"
