4 years.....wow. I hope some of you can find some comfort with my post. When I was DX I was always looking for survivor stories, especially with lots of node involvement and prayed Someday I would be able to return the favor. 2014 I had no scans and had a lot of fun. I hope that continues. Life does get back to normal, our new normal. Some days I don't think about it and sometimes I dwell on things. I wish you all a drama free new year and if you need me I,m here.

For me, it's been 5 1/2 yrs since DX. I'm still NED, loving and living every moment to the utmost. Still a VERY active 'outdoor' woman - have even taken up a couple of new 'things' to do and plan on trying kayaking next summer. Do I have some 'issues' - ya betcha. The arthritis in my upper back has gotten worse, my osteopenia is now osteoporosis, have had 2 cataracts and 2 detached retinas during those yrs. all of which MIGHT have happened anyway without IBC DX anyway by the time I hit 68 last June.

No matter what the future may hold for me - my Faith and my deep belief that the power of positive thinking will continue to sustain me as it has throughout the years (good and not so good) along my journey down this road called Life. To not waste any precious time by allowing negative darkness in to the sunshine.

4 years is great! I remember getting the impression that my onc was quite surprised to see me at 4 years with my loads of nodes etc at IIIC and she seemed to give the impression that it was an important milestone. I was dxed in 2009 so I'm a little ahead of you.

It was so disappointing when the original "5 years and out thread" was pulled. I went back to it quite often during the dark days. It had loads of stories of women who beating the odds. Also, it's good to remember that bc.org hasn't been around that long so there is a whole group of survivors who will never post on this forum.

OrlandPark2011 - congratulations!  Always brings HOPE and encouragement!  And thanks

so much for coming back to pay it forward!!

    I'm 3 years 3 months out - who is counting - LOL...Honestly, I never thought I would be

here one node shy of IIIc, huge tumor and only 3 months of Herceptin as I had a heart attack during chemo

and major valve damage during Herceptin.

My Onc is so happy - he said on my last visit that he usually lets his patients go after

5 years, but with me, he's keeping me on to watch me!   Honestly, that makes me feel better!

I still have flashbacks and an occasional bad day, but mostly life is good!!

Just the inspiration and medicine for my soul to read. It is truly a blessing to make it five and half years! Only have to do chest x-rays and blood work in April and September! Birthday is in September, the big 50 and my last oncologist visit! Ain't going to make time for my friend Anxiety to visit. Going to make each day a crazy adventure! Keep the positive energy flowing.....
