Tomboy.. I have to agree.. If people are sick, they should stay home...and work places should provide more sick leave so people can.. Also people send their children to day care / school when they are sick because they have no one to mind them at home while they work..and it just keeps spreading... Ugh.. Yes.. Probably time I tried some P.T as well.. Great to hear it helped you..
Poppy.. Have to laugh about Mrs Doubtfiire and her boobs 😃
FK ..Sending turbo prayers for Brian , that he gets great news from his scan .
Ducky ..Yes ..maybe it is time to change your PCP ....!!!
Mommy ..Sorry you have been.sick too !
Blondie ..How are you ?
-
Oh Ducky, it sounds brutal. Did you get the Tamiflu? Feel better soon!
Last week my DH had a respiratory illness and on our roadtrip home from DC, he coughed so much I had to drive the last hour home against his protests. He could hardly breathe between coughing fits. He got a Zpack and codeine syrup. Three days later, he is doing better. We both went back to work today.
Lucy, I'm not sure where you are located, but is it summery? Tomorrow is our first cold spell in a long time and it will come with a little snow on the East end of Long Island. I have to go out so I had better get the warm clothes ready.
We traveled a lot over the last 12 days, and am finally home and relaxed. Work is easy - nobody is there so I can work without stress.
I went alone to Boston area to DD's because it was my granddaughter's 4th birthday. I am glad I went even though the drive was tough and I was tired.
We went to Build-A-Bear and Cheesecake Factory for late lunch and had a great day. The kids did not want me to leave and asked if I could come over every day. I wish I could....I am really weighing retirement vs. working indefinitely. The main reason I would retire is to spend more time with family.
FK, I will light my Angel candle for you and Brian as he goes for his scan. I pray it is uneventful. And I hope you find boots in your size.Blondie, would love it if you'd take a road trip...that would be awesome!
Slow, would love to make a road trip to CA. I don't really have any long stretches of time off until end of June through August. I usually fly in May, but not sure what I'm doing yet this year.
Gonna send this before it disappears....
Thinking of everyone here...Lulu, Tomboy, Poppy, others here --hugs and prayers...

Joan.. I am from Queensland, which is in north Australia.. So yes, it's very hot here at the moment.. Thank goodness for airconditioning.!! I took my grandson to Build- A- Bear last year for his birthday present.. He loved it!!

oh, ducky, special prayers that that aneurism just goes completely away.. poof!
-
GRRR - blew a hole in my new-placed nipple. Woke up with blood on my gauze.. I reached for something yesterday and felt it pull on the nipple... Guess I'm not doing anymore reaching and staying still today..
-
ooooh Gma! you don't need to see a doc? Maybe they needed another stitch or two? Yikes! please take it easy! A hole is an avenue for infection, yikes!
-
Kathy.....FK has the problem with the aneurysm..........I hope its all okay too................
Cancelled more appts today..........amazing how this flu shit takes you down.......
-
Tomboy - no problem - it stopped bleeding and is sealed back together. I just have to not do any reaching.. Talked to the PS's - PA and he answered all my questions and said to call them back if I see any redness or major leakage again. I already have an open wound to care for so not too worried yet. It is one hell of a healing process that I didn't count on.
And I agree with Ducky - that flu was a real bad one. Don't want to do that again either!

FK.....you better go get the shot........it can't hurt you.........but should you get the flu at least it won't be full blown..............I am glad I got the shot......just disappointed that in over 20 years I have never gotten the Flu.....thank to getting it........this year was a mishap, and I was one of the unlucky ons...........I got it from my SIL.
Had we not gone together to Chicago (I sat next to him on the plane going there) I proabably would still be ok cause I don't go too many places.
But you are in a building with a lot of people...........Don't make a mistake........Get the shot.....it won't cover you for 2 weeks, but if you get the full blown flu....you will regret it that you didn't get it...........trust me.......
I still sound like a friggin Seal.......

Real Food...........

Gma, Sorry you are having problems healing. My PS has a rule of thumb: 1 week of recovery for every hour of surgery. I oozed some as I healed.
Ducky, Hope you stop barking soon.
FK, My mom bought our family Rummykub for Christmas. I thought of you immediately when the kids opened the gift!
-
Fk, well wishing for your son then, misunderstood D.
Gma, but it sounds like you are doing well. No more reaching for a while, tho~I know we like to do what we want tho.
i am gonna have to find out about rummykub. but then i stay away from people, so i dont know. germs.!! at this time of year i stay away. I never get the flu shot, i never get the flu. so far, the only people i know with the flu are the ones that had the shot.
Hi Pop.
-
Started doing some thinking after I talked to my mom yesterday. Think I'm going to reverse my decision not to have her come here to care for me after my surgery. She is sounding really stressed out from having to deal with the crew there. Talked this over with the hubby last night and we both agree that as long as there is no drama while she's here, it'll be fine and at least I'll have someone here to keep an eye on me while he's at work.
-
It will probably be really nice for the both of you, how nice! Big and gentle hug for you, momma.
-
Praying for your son, FK.
And please, if any ones prayer list isn't too long, can we have some prayers for my brother Larry to come to his senses? He is a sweet sweet man who has lost his way, and I love him. and I am really really worried about him.
Slow, not sure how we are gonna be in each others pockets today, but don't sit on me, okay? And I will return the favor!
-
Tomboy.. Turbo prayers heading Larry's way 😃
.
-
Yes. This will be a much needed break for her since she's got my younger brother, his wife and their two kids living with her and my stepdad. Mom will be 70
next month and I have told her many times that she and my stepdad need to tell my brother's bunch to find a place of their own. Mom don't need to have her grandkids with her 24/7. -
No! She has earned a peaceful time of life! the older i get, the more of an accomplishment and more respect i have for people who have made it to their seventies and eighties.
-
Yep. She told me this morning when I talked to her that she's coming down for at least 4-5 days. Glad she'll be able to relax for the time she is going to be here. We play a lot of cribbage when she's here and she helps me with doing chores that I won't be able to do most likely and it will take some of the burden off hubby having to help me with things after he's worked all day.
-
Just a thought for today:
-
wow GmaF...powerful
I'm holding that heavy glass rite now
I'm a wreck goin Tonite over the mountain to bring Brian for his test
We r all goin..my Gd,the kids,Brian and MEZZACAPO
It's ruff out there...freezin and only gonna get colder with snow
MEZZACAPO..what's that? Auto correct... I meant ME??
Sain a prayer for all of us rite now
Ducky,,,can't even think about that shot rite now...im wearing a mask and rubber gloves..
Don't no when I'll be back..his appt.is at 5pm...
-
It takes 2 minutes...........you better think about it........who is going to be there to help if something happens to you................your the "glue" kiddo...............
Get the damn shot.......rubber gloves mean nothing........someone coughs or sneezes in your face and they have the virus...........your in bed for 2 weeks or more............
Remember.....all 6 of us had the shot................we were all down for a week............even the 2 who got Tamiflu......................just saying.............
-
Safe travels Fire!
-
Gma.. Good way of thinking about things.. We can't help stresses coming..But we have to let go.. Wish I could.
Mommy.. I'm glad your Mum is coming.. Sounds like she needs a well deserved break., and it'll be good for you too.
Ducky.. I.Usually get the flu shot.. But the year before last my arm blew up.for a week after it.. So I didn't get it last year in case I had an even worse reaction... But I'm going to give it another chance when our winter comes this year, after seeing how many of you are getting sick.
FK.. Hoping all goes well with Brian.. Lovely that he has so much family support.
-
Oh Boy....I'm very behind again.
Ducky, "OK ASSWIPE......he already did......what part of I got the script don't you get......"
hahahahahahahahaha. You just gave me my good laugh for the day!!! I sure do love you!!
Also love the soup cartoon! I could live on soup.I hope that everyone that has been sick is on the mend.
I must say, the one year I got the flu shot, I ended up getting the flu.
Since then, I never get the shot. I did have the pneumonia shot though.Just got back from my appointments.
I'm so paranoid about getting the flu, I wore a mask and gloves.
It made people stay away from me wondering what I may have!! hahaha
People were coughing and gagging all around me.
Wish I could have wrapped myself in plastic.Mommy, glad to hear you will have some help.
Mom's are so wonderful to have around when we are sick.I'm on the edge of my seat Kathe. Keeping everything crossed!!
Actually, I uncrossed my eyes so I could drive. ツ !!Keeping Brian in my prayers Kracker.
Also, Larry - Tomboy's brother. How are you feeling Blondie? Did you get rid of that nasty shingles??
GMA, lulu, joan, poppy and others, hope you're all doing well and free from pain.
Hugs to all!!
-
I"m getting there......still sound like a Seal, but getting there..............tonights dinner was broccoi..with a side of Peach Activia..............Now I KNow YOUr All Jealous..........LOL...........guess what I would not have gone out if someone offered me Filet Mignon smotherd in Crab meat..............
Could not do Swanson chicken broth again...........LOL..........not that the broccoli was any better...........ugh.....
My daughter told me she was having chicken and dumpli'ngs..........told her thanks for sharing her announcement but not her dinner.........she won't come anywhere near my house.............none of them will..........the one who did offer was my son in law.......the first one sick......God love him.....he is the best, told him..........STAY AWAY..........he is also the one with th inffection that put him in the hospital for a week a couple months ago.......he is still on an anti-biotic for another 3 months..............and his wife my daughter is just getting better...............oh its ugly................
-
Lucy, Have you considered getting the nasal spray inoculation instead of the shot? Maybe it would solve your reaction problem.
Ducky, This flu sure sounds nasty.
Slow, I wear a mask when I take my boys to the doctor. My body can't afford to be exposed to junk at this point.
FK and Tomboy, praying for you and your family.
Mommy, I hope both you and your mom enjoy peace and relief from stress when she visits. I know it will be a challenge, but maybe thinking about how your mom gets very little peace in HER OWN HOME might make it easier for you.
My rads are going okay, but I sure am tired. My DH and I are completely stressed from the situation with my oldest son. Today they told us that if he continues to not take care of himself (eat, sleep, shower) they will admit him. I hope my son listens and starts to help himself. He is 6'1" and now weighs only 114lbs. It is so hard to not be able to help him.
-
Poppy .....the Flu shot is not nasty..................the problem is this years flu shot missed a particular strain of the flu, and that is the one that is causing the problem.............
It has nothing to do with the shot itself..............if you got the shot......because there is a strain of flu not included in it that is the one that is happenin to peope who got the shot.........there was not enouh protection.....
If you don't get the shot, and you do get the Flu.....trust me....you will be damn sick, so your better off getting the shot even though it fell short this year.......you still have some protectio
For 20 years I got the Flu shot......never got the Flu.......this year they missed the mark.........
