Hi! Been on tmx now almost 7 yrs. And I have always been very good about taking it daily. In the beginning I had very mild side effects. Now I have hip/joint pain... But nothing that I can't also attribute to being almost 49yrs old. recent ultrasound shows a thickening of my uterus, which makes me think about stopping tmx. Been trying like crazy to find info from women who took tmx for years and then stopped. Side effects? Joint paint go away? Skin clear up? Sex drive return?? I'm considering stopping this summer when I know I'll be more active. Please share your experiences with stopping tmx after taking it for years! <3

    Hi hsmac,

    Thanks for starting this discussion.

We're also interested to see what others experiences are of stopping Tmx.

    Bumping your topic!

Bumping. I am interested too. I am 36 and  took a break from Tamoxifen a week ago due to night sweats and fatigue. I am still experiencing night sweats and fatigue even after being off Tamoxifen for a week. I would like to know what others have experienced when getting off for a break or for good.

When I asked my MO he said it could easily take a month, maybe more, for side effect like hot flashes, etc. to go away. Evidently the half-life for tamoxifen is fairly long. Haven't stopped it myself, but thought I'd pass along the information I was given.

I ended. my 5 yrs of Aromasin  last year.  Doc said to just stop the med.  Not advised!  I never had SEs that I could blame on the med but my CA as DCIS and my doc felt I had had enough for my treatment.  I hoped that my joint pain and foggy brain would ease up, not.  BP is down but all else the same.

now the week I stopped?  I wanted to hit the ceiling!  I was buzzed as if I was coming down from a steroid, which I was!  not fun, I wouls suggest tapering off
