TEKA! GOOD one! Ha, ha! I didn't go out, because I couldn't! But we are going Tuesday to hopefully get another car! xoxo
THEN I will run hog-wild...Ha!

My county won't allow PetsMart to sell puppies and kittens. Yay

Chevy- thanks for the heads up- no fresh pineapple in jello, nice save on the salad to cake! Seems we might be with you in the car replacement lane. My husband loves his German Passat... I HATE that damn car. It's too low and is hard to get in and out of, when you put the turbo on accelerate fast - nearly snaps your head off. The locks lock automatically and have pinched the skin on my arm leaving blood blisters mor time then I can count. It has all these computerized things all over the dash board and dings with a snow flake if it's snowing - I have a windshield and 2 eyes I can see if it's snowing. grrr.. Worst of all everything breaks on this dang car and everything costs 400-1000. Nothing is cheap a friggin key is 100.00 because they are computerized and bizarre! I swear it's a conspiracy to get back at Americans for WWll... a 100 dollar key???
Well Wednesday night right after work the Passat gives up the ghost on some computerized chip and the key won't even open the door. So day after Thanksgiving we get it towed to the dealer and it's some super specialized part that has to shipped from GERMANY and will take a week or more. No car. 125.00 to diagnose the damn car. It handles well - when it runs and the gas mileage is pretty good and I still HATE that car. So I am on a mission to get a replacement, even used. My kid in college wants to buy it off him... she can't afford to maintain it. Hell I would happily give it to her.. I hate it. The only car I hate more than that Passat is the Ford Escort I bought fresh out of Graduate school. Thankfully I bought the warranty because in one year the Ford dealer replaced 3,500 worth of things on that car - it only cost 5600.00! (This was years ago - lemon through and through) I have never bought a Ford since. I will never EVER buy a Passat again.( I told DH that he had to wait until I am dead to get another German car) The dealer said hey I can put you in a nice new Jetta for... I stopped him and said "only if it's FREE." All that hype on "German engineering"... BS I tell you. My BIL brought a volvo back from Sweden after a military tour, had it shipped to the states. He HATED that car... told the funniest stories about all the things that went wrong! hilarious.
Ok Rant over! Thanksgiving was great! Hope your was too.

Here the PetsMart and PetCo have shelter animals. Our shelter has 6 condos at the PetCo in the next block. Our volunteers go over 3 x day to feed and play with them. It's great for us because they tend to fly our of there. And they're all adults looking for their forever home.

Howdy Hi..... Hope all have survived the BIG day & the shopping from hell day. I cleaned the patio, huge mess.. I had PT, was so fatigued in the arms & shoulders from trying to clean our concrete patio. I had the lawn people clean our rain gutters....Big Mistake! They just hosed them out, 15 years worth of fine dust, sand from the shingles. They have been wonderful lawn family, very helpful. This job was not what I expected.
Nighty night.....

OMD Rosie! Haaahaaaaaaaah! I tried not to laugh out loud when I read your post... That was GREAT! But I laughed anyway.
That car sounds like it has it's own mind... and it MIGHT need you, if it wants a fill-up, or some human kind of response... other than that, it can run on it's own! It pinches your ARM! I would take a sledge-hammer to that thing!
And yes, DD rented a car here, when she came in from Orlando, and something "dings" when the windshield gets a rain-drop! You can just imAGINE what would happen if like a truck went speeding by on the highway, and rocks came swirling off the top of that damn thing, like it did to MY car! My windshield got 3 new dings! Your whiny-little Passat would have just stopped and sobbed! Damn little pu$y-pasat!
Remember "Hal" on 2001 a Space Odyssey? Your car is a clone! They are smarter than WE are! Maybe I WILL get another clutch-car... with roll-down windows, and 60 cent keys that work.... and re-cliner seats that.... oh never mind.... And I don't need no "4 on the Floor" no more! I need that room for coffee cups, cell-phone, grocery lists and chit.
No Ford Escort eh? I just looked one up... Rather cute, they are! Okay... I have that on my list of what NOT to buy... along with a Hummer, Jeep, Cadillac, or '65 chevy rat-rod! And no damn Volvo.
In fact, I'm having the Dealer call YOU before I settle on a car... I need more expert opinions... Ha!
Our Nephew got home with my clutch-less car... probably like 2 mph he drove. His Dear Wife following him... probably putting on her make-up, shopping on-line, taking a nap, and just making sure he got home okay.
Okay... This is Saturday? 3 more days till I get another car... still thinking of something like a 2012 Chevy Cruz... I just HAVE to have the name Chevy in there somewhere!
-
Back in the 80s DH bought a Plymouth K car. There was a reason it was painted yellow!
In 92 I bought a Saturn. And the extended warrenty. Thank Dog! It had MAJOR problems, they had engineers from all over the country trying to figure out the problem. They were ready to put a whole new engine in it.
I was so impressed, I bought 2 more. If they hadn't been eaten by GM, I'd get another.
So I bought a 2014 Chevy Spark. Fun little car to drive, sits high, easy on gas. Not a lot of bells and whistles. Has 9 air bags! In the year I've had it, it's had 3 recalls, with one more to come.
The point is, each maker can have lemons. There are consumer protection laws for us. Learn what they are and how to use them if necessary.
I'd rather have a brand new car with extended warrenty than buy somebody else's used problem. This Spark has every warrenty I could get.
Sure, they start breaking about 50-60 thousand. That's what the warrenty is for
-
Chevy - here's a car for you! Two years ago we bought my dream car - a Smart For Two! I love this baby car more than the Jaguars, Datsun, Oldsmobile, Chrysler, and Toyota cars we have had in 47 years of marriage. It is huge inside and small outside and takes me everywhere. Then of course, I don't have to haul kids around any more and the grandkids live up north and we haul our Toyota behind the motorhome. Then again, I wouldn't mind having only one at a time anyway. All my groceries and Costco purchases fit in back. What more do I need? I first saw one of these in Bellingham near the Canadian border in about 2000. The lady had a tree she had purchased at KMart and it was sticking out through her sunroof. It was love at first sight
-
Chevy, See if Denver has Craigslist. You can specify what you want to look for, pick dealers, people or both and the cars have pictures. I just bought a car we found on Craigslist and DS has bought several.
-
Hello Owlettes, hope all is well. I have had computer and electric problems. Lightening strike and after finally getting back here, I hit the touch pad and wiped myself out. Then a second try, BCO did one of those auto log out thingys wipeout. Hopefully I can get this through
Chevy LOL FUNNY about the cranberry jello cake. but the mistake sounds wonderfully tasty. Did that with a salsa once, it was the best ever. We were fixing two different recipes, DH put two ingredients into the wrong recipe. Forgot to write the mistake recipe down. Your story of the critters getting into your food. I had an appetizer tray outside the door in near zero weather. Brought it indoors . The aluminum cover was disturbed. MICE. UGH!Patty, very happy you had a wonderful day and All were so helpful. Sorry about the pain. I'm going to the ENT doc Monday to see what we do with the neck thingy. Before I get sx or RAI again. I'm going to see if he won't do a phone consultation with Moffitt CC doc. SX, I think I'll go to Moffitt. In the meantime, just having fun. Always sumpin.
-
Going to do short posts so in case of a wipe out it isn't a disheartening total loss.
Chevy the cell phone pic in Florida is absolutely true except in a BLOW. Then it's you all looking at us.
Mommie Happy Happy, Life with Princess is proceeding so nicely. Not sure at all about how fast kitties litter train, but it sounds fast. The small joys of life

Mags, sounds delish. What a treasure to be given. ......Havilland for dinner. Love it. My table was a mix of new and old. I miscounted. Should have set for twelve, seating for ten. PUNT. DS popped in right away and said he and GF would sit at the kids table. Methaphor that all understood. They ate on the deck. Filet of Mignon Roast. Not done quite well enough. PUNT. Threw some pieces on the stove top in EVO and seared. The rare medium pieces for those of us that like rare were like butter--divine
Chevy, I think the jello box says not to use fresh pineapple?.. I agree with LMG's get a car that won't be trouble getting out of or hurt your hips. My hips healed, but it was an expensive lesson.
Rose, I think you are right about the conspiracy re the foreign cars. How many countries now own Real Estate here of the biggest properties or production? Rockefeller Center, Budwiser, Port Of New Orleans? Don't have to go to war with the USA, just buy it up.
HI1--slept through Black Friday. Likely will regret it b/c my fax/copier/printer got fried in he lightening strike.
Wren, Paws Thanks for your service of taking care of shelter animals and fosters. Bless you

Blessings loved the bra, congrats on graduating to a year YAY
Smarrty hey BTW your pic with DH is great and the new doo too.
2TA?????????? Calling

News Flash! Can't say anything to family. But I can tell my family here. DS drops in phone conversation on Friday that DGF is moving in with him. That she's started looking for a job in Tampa. I'm sooo, excited. I could hardly breathe. You can tell they are so in love. He's so relaxed and happy around her. Everyone that met her T-day thought she was wonderful.
-
Enerva Hugs , don't work to hard, but happy you are back at it. You sound energized YAY. Keeping your sister in my prayers
Teka keep the coffee flowing

Blondie hope you have had some peace from pain. Praying for you. Hope all the kids behaved.
Mommie Happy Birthday YAY another year older.
Foots Praying for you too, chickie---painless and sleeping better.
Florida Space Coast weather. Gorgeous since Thursday. Crisp. Cool, but not too cool. Doors open, windows open. Blue skies Heaven
Hope it's improved elsewhere

Jwooooohotie hoo, Went through many of the links, but needed to resign in to get back here. Ergh. The pics are wonderful. You have a great eye for design, architecture, scenes, woodwork/ furniture, color, funny. What is that whole pic thing with the animals as regals? History please? Looks like you had a once in a life time trip. -
Jen so glad u had a good time
-
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, time with family and friends. So crazy busy, can't keep up. Just to let you know I'm thinking of you all:

-
hi all, was off the board last week but finished a HUGE project at work. Maybe you heard my sigh of relief Friday night? Read all I'd missed and sending lots of gentle ((hugs)).

Hootie Hoo ♥
-
Badger, oh,so that what it was! Glad it's finished
Hopefully, will get some time to read thru the last 10 pages or so that I've missed. On second thought, probably not.
Yesterday:

-
Here is a little bit about the animals in the castle- i just LOVE them!
-
well, I never got out of my pj's which doesn't mean I didn't get anything done. Too late now to get dressed. I did get 2 websites updated. Got the newsletter done and out in the mail and email. Got a new quilt project cut out while showing a GS how to make a quilt. He decided it was kinda neat to learn. He's 11. I still need to start wrapping Christmas presents now because DH doesn't do that. Not wrapping a lot, mostly going to be gift cards. but need to print envelopes out, probably tomorrow.
I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. Now Christmas is only 25 days away! I'm actually going to put up the tree and decorations this week. I have never done the tree early in 47 years. It usually is up one week before and down the day after. So guess I'm in the Christmas spirit. Yeah! Ho! Ho! Ho
-
Way behind, can't even remember if I wished everyone happy thanksgiving. But I came across this pic and couldn't help but think of Sassy.

-
hey Sas- my bff is starting to collect Fenton aqua blue opalescent pieces. anywhere you can recommend to purchase from besides ebay? i've gotten a few things for her the last couple of years, but want to start making it a regular thing.
-
Jwoo, Thank you so much for sharing your photos. They brought back many memories of London (and the Kew) and made me sorry I didn't see more of the countryside.
-
happy to share. i LOVE England. Probably more than i should. Everywhere is full of history. I love all of Europe, really. I am just in awe of the living history that is visible all around. But the weather- i like ti rainy, cold, and dark! London leaves me so energized- it is an electric city. Kew- we did not even scratch the surface, and the temperate house was closed
they are repairing/restoring it) We only saw a fraction of the gardens, and I was just amazed. So much beauty in one space.
