I have so much less pain in joints with Aromasin vs. Femara but fear the diarrhea that I am experiencing is caused by the Aromasin. I started the drug at the beginning of September after almost 8 years of Femara. I started getting diarrhea in late October and it started mild and is more severe now....it has been a month. At least 10 bathroom visits a day....starts in the middle of the night...and there is no stomach pain etc. unless I eat my usual diet of hot peppers...haha.

I had stool cultures and blood work. Nothing there. The GP says he would stop the Aromasin for two weeks and see if that works. I will check with my oncologist but....really wanted to know if this is at all typical. I want to stay on Aromasin due to no pain and less hot flashes. But of course the diarrhea is a ball and chain. Does it pass? Have you experienced
    this?

Thanks for any response and ...Happy Turkey Day.

I was on Aromasin/Afinitor combo back in the spring - I was on it for approx.. 3 months and had to stop because of breathing problems - however 5 weeks after I woke up in the middle of the night with massive intestinal bleeding which sent me to the ER at 4 a.m. I was there for 30 hours - had all the tests known to man including colonoscopy - I had been showing diverticula (inactive) in the past two years of CT's but no problems at all - no pain, no diarrhea, no nothing - asked the gastro doc what the cause was and he said "indeterminate" but could have been a drug - he wasn't aware of AA combo, my PCP said it could have been anything, onc said perhaps it was low dose aspirin I took for my heart but they put me right back on it and haven't had problem since - I am guessing it might have been the Aromasin but guess we'll never know - just to be on the safe side I would follow your PCP's advice and get off the Aromasin and see what happens - also call your onc's office and tell them about the diarrhea - hope you're hydrating like crazy and hope you're joking about the hot peppers! Happy Thanksgiving. S.

Thank you 208Sandy. I will contact my Onco. Are there any other stories of Aromasin and bowel issues?

I am not kidding about the peppers. I have eaten them for years except while doing chemo. Now I am laying off again. I had a really bad thing last night due to them. I have been eating supper bland for me and thought....that's not helping what the heck...so ate my usual fare. What a mistake. No bleeding though.

    Thank you...Shirley
