INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Just started browsing to see what was out there and I saw a cute kitten when we were out at a cat adoption event at a local pet store. Looked like my Charcoal but it was very shy. Going to take a bit more time to find the right one.

MOmmy, Good for you sticking with black cats. We've had several and one of our fosters is black. Seems like lots of people try one and discover how wonderful they are. I bought a UNICEF coffee cup one year that had a black cat in a flower box. I mentioned having a cat like that and the clerk said almost everyone who bought the mug had said that. We had a medium-long haired black foster cat. In the sun she was red-brown with black highlights. Look at adults as well as kittens. We get lots of wonderful young adult cats at the shelter due to allergies, moving, etc.

OMD, you OWLETTES are just so talkative. LOL ---isn't that nice. Been off b/c of bottom issues------but the end of it is near(pun). I hope. Will be doing a new thread b/c God kicked me in the behind. The thread will be on skin infections and eczema management. I will be pulling together many old posts and new web sites. Haven't done a look back b/c I have DBF doing creative stuff on the pool enclosure. I was here on 2D6 and he did something wrong. He thinks it's right' I think it's wrong LOLOLOLO When the lights go on we will know. He's so easy. If I think it's wrong, he just changes it. He can doooooooooo anything.SOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPYYYYYYYYYYYY sitting is near comfortable after 2 months YAY. Never take sitting for granted--EVER. What it's felt like is sitting on a wire brush, not nice.
LOVE you all ----------Hugs sassy

*Good Evening*
MO, sorry, but enjoy searching for that special kitten.
Spookie, HB.
Husband, Daughter, and I just returned home from a day trip to the Vermont Country Store to get X-mas stocking stuffers!

Momof2 - I feel for you. You are right bout the black cats being the last adopted and the first given up! I have heard that at our rescue. My daughter was going for a back cat until she found the most pathetic male siamese mix ever. I mean the no kill shelter never thought this street urchin would get a home. They thought he was around 3, the pads on his feet were worn down, his eye lashes scrapped his cornias so he is sight restricted - his eyes were infected and goopy. One ear was notched and his tail was broken. I was kind of mad that my daughter took him home he was such a mess. We had surgery on his poor eyes and they turned out to be almost a purple/ blue and now he can open his eyes and look around. He had blood in his stool from parasites; medicine fixed that. Now he's very affectionate and I don't think sees really well. He must have been years in eye pain. Now he's a fat and happy condo cat with 5th floor windows to prowl - king of a safe place full of love. All of our cats were shelter cats. So I hope you find one to bond with soon.

Search might be at an end soon, I hope.
Funny thing about how Charcoal came into our lives was that when I was originally looking for a cat, I wanted a Siamese or a Persian kitten, but I was having no luck. So feeling a bit let down, I said to heck with trying to find a purebred kitten and I settled on just getting a kitten. We called all over our area but no one had kittens. So we started searching online and found a shelter about an hour away that to our luck had just two kittens one weekend. We were going to go the weekend we found this shelter but we had just had a snowstorm the day before and everyone was digging out, so we called the shelter the following Saturday morning and they said that the kittens were still there. So we drove over and there was Charcoal with another kitten. I originally was interested in the other kitten, but he hung back and the one that ended up becoming Charcoal kept coming up to the front of the cubicle they were in. I picked him up and started cuddling him and petting him and he started climbing all over me and purring like mad. That's when I knew that it was fate and that he was the one I wanted. Drove home with him in my lap as we had no cat carrier for him. At first he was as nervous as could be, but we weren't even 20 minutes into the trip when I happened to look down because he was being so quiet and he was fast asleep on my lap! Guess it was fate that closed one door and opened another.

Just thought since there is a lot of talk about cats going on, that in my family I'm known as the crazy cat lady!! I love my cats!! They entertain and are better therapy for me than any doctor!
-
Cats, dogs, doesn't matter. Nothing like a critter to cuddle with!

Happy birthday Spookiesmom...
Hi 2nd, yes I hope when I get good sleep my energy will improve too.
HaHa Holeinone, Crap machine, funny..it looks like a contraption to me too. I'll update when I get mine.
So nice to see grammaKathy here. I hope taking Arimidex at night helps you sleep. I take mine in the morning. I've had problems sleeping most of my life so I can't blame Arimidex.
Mom, so sorry for the loss of your cat. I completely understand. Furbabies are family members, and so loving. My heart goes out to you.
Chevy, your daughter is beautiful, surrounded by such beautiful decorations too.
Cold and windy here tonight. The wind blew my patio furniture and patio rug across he backyard. -
Mommies so sorry for your loss of charcoal. It took me 20 years to get over Rocky and mom's cat Teddy. But it took only one night to fall in love with Alaska and Callie. They are just turning one year old and sleep every night in bed cuddled up with me.
They both are great and need my company. I hope you get another cat and fall in love. I will never forget Teddy and Rocky they were like my family.

Oh Meow, I'm the same way, never have gotten over Cindy our Collie as a child. But b/c my parents taught us much b/c they bred her numerous times, we learned at a very young age about training. What fun lots of pups to play with and love. Then when I got married after graduating as a nurse-we had two solid incomes( 1974).He was an Engineer. Me "I want a house and a child and a dog--don't care which order". He was okay on the house and the child, negative on the dog. Never had one. Got the house, working on the child. Then visited a friend. He had Brits. His female laid her head on Dh's knee, then laid down at his feet with her paws crossed. DH said "If I could have a dog like this I would have a dog". Dear friend said 'I'm breeding her you can have a pup". Dh thought we set him up.
Max lived for 15 years. I have often said I could write children's stories about Max.
We all have our furbabies. Mommy sorry for you loss. We never stop remembering them. It's not that we stop remembering our family and friends when they die, it's different with our furbabies. I know you all get that.

it's snowing here. Yea! Both ds's been asking all day if we thought they would have a snow day tomorrow. No idea. Exoectung between a dusting and 3". Will be fun to have the boys hine for a snow day. Not enough to mske a snowman or sled but I am sure they will want to go outside and find something to do. Then hot chocolate and maybe some board games. I have some choc chip cookie dough frozen. That. Sounds good too. Too Bad they are too old for naps :-(.

DBF worked into the night putting up the lights-------supposed to be Christmas colors, turn them on they are New Orleons Party colors. I keep looking and evaluating ------Don't Like them--------------The reason is all the colors in the house revolve around Christmas. Everything. Spookie and Phyliss have seen. Have to decide what to do. Must live with for many years. Yuck-----keep looking over my shoulder at the lights-----------nope.... Ugh............But I'm sitting

-
SAS. - glad your rear trouble are coming to an end. New Orleans party lights would be different. Sometimes different is good right ?

Morning gals! I've just been surfing the blog, and see where YOU Spookie, are always reminding me about your weather! I TOLD you, it is getting up to around "freezing" here today, AND even in the 40's for next week! So Hah on THAT one! Time to get out my shorts I guess... and my thongs! Remember when we used to call flip-flops THONGS? I said that once to my Grand-son, and he looked at me like I was totally nuts! But we DID! And then there were Pedal Pushers, and Capri's? And jump-suits, that were so cute!
Sassy, DD in Orlando put her tree up last week....Ha! She usually puts it up around Thanksgiving, but the whole family LOVES Christmas! I put my tree up too... I go upstairs, take the plastic off, and bring it down-stairs, set it on an end table, and my tree is up!
I have 3 little ones... I made a red-velvet one about 25 years ago...! It is my favorite! I just gathered rows of velvet, into "rings" and laid them on a post, and then I decorated it with little photo's of our family, with silver glitter around the edges, cut into ovals, and glued them on the tree, with little pearls....
I gave away all of my ornaments, and big tree's years ago... But Janie comes over Christmas morning for Brunch... Eggs Benedict and champagne! Then we open our presents together...!
Sass, you are doing a thread on skin problems? Yes! Talk about that Dishydrotic Eczema, which I had, which was caused by "topical" stuff...
http://dyshidroticeczema.net/ ....http://www.cutaneousallergy.org/downloads/patient/...
Mainly allergies to what you get into.... like the Hot Spot Spray I used on Lacee... an allergy to rubber, how they vulcanize it, and that was one of the ingredients in the Spray.... which I kept re-contaminating my hands, by just petting her! Even though I used "rubber" gloves. They were a MESS!
And are you going to talk about allergens, inhalant and topical? AND drugs, and vitamins like what IS that one mineral, that I took, and broke out in hives?
And inter-actions with other meds, when taking something as common as Melatonin? I will be your Thesis case in point. I can be your go-to-girl, for anything that can go wrong WILL if you try hard enough!
http://www.orlandoskindoc.com/test.mercaptobenzoth... This one was the worst....
Also Inhalants, like paint stripper, epoxy, bug spray... things that you should never be around....
This is a good site also...http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginformation...
You could even talk about POSSIBLE SE's that other Doctor's do not like to mention... It doesn't have to be accurate, just knowledgable. Just like we always are..Ha!
-

Oh BIG KITTY! What a great shot. My Aunt used to live in Meadow Vista CA- foothills of Calif. on the way to Tahoe. Beautiful but they have cougars. I guess some one in her town had a big one come up on their porch to get their dog and the woman chased it off with a broom! That takes guts. She also had a neighbor who invited a bunch of kids over for an outside Birthday party for their kid. The kids were playing and having a good time. They let their dog out and the dog kept barking - so they shut the dog up in the house. Then when they got the pictures of the party back and were looking at them..... in the woods around their backyard hidden was a cougar. They blew up the photos and could make out eyes and clear outline. The cat was just watching the party... all those little kiddie crumpets! Yum!
-
RV, Probably a good thing there were lots of kids. A herd is safer than a loner. It should teach those people to pay attention when their dog barks. Especially if it's not given to barking.
-
My annual Mammogram was clear! Yay! So I celebrated with a homemade ice-cream cone at home! It's 40 degrees out! Time to get out my flip-flops..... if I had any....
-
Wren44- so right you are! The parents freaked when they realized there had been a cat watching these kids play. They cut down the brush past their fence line so there would be no hiding spots. You can better believe they paid attention to the dog after that. The first wild sighting of a cougar my husband and I saw was leaving my Aunts house at dusk. We saw the cat running through a field and the tail was a give away. The second cougar sighting was up here in Oregon along a river at 4:30 pm with the whole family in the van. They are gorgeous but you need to be careful. We always take our dogs with us hiking and the dogs will smell and pick up things long before we will! Extra early doggy warning system.
-
Chevy- congrads on the "all clear." Flip-flops...brrrr I love the cartoon of the guy shoveling and yelling to his wife... "If that's my brother from Florida I do not want to talk." What a hoot.
-
Chevy congrats on the good news!
