Muscle cramps on Femara

I expect we've all experienced leg cramps -- either before Femara, or during -- but I had an unusual one the other night.  Just before falling asleep, the FRONT of my right leg between knee and ankle (my shin, I guess) went into spasm and it was a good 5 minutes before I could "rub" it away.  Has that happened to anyone?

I also find that my jaw muscles seem to cramp frequently, as well as the muscles controlling the pyloric valve (I have a hiatus hernia) and the only way to get rid of that pain is through vigorous burping!!!  Any 10-year-old boy would be green with envy!

Just wondering if others are having the same or similar experiences?

Linda

Now you got me thinking. Couple  of months after being on Femara I have been feeling a sluggish.. weird feeling of my jaw. I actually got scared cause thought it was oncoming jaw necrosis caused by biophosphates( I am on Zometa) or I was having heart trouble.

Dang now I am thinking can Femara do that too ????

I also am active and am a rower and started getting terrible forearm cramps while rowing ( never had this problem before Femara)

Yes, the jaw thing does make one think of a possible heart attack -- first time it happened, I was scared too.  Other than the cramps, femara really only affects my hands and wrists (except first thing in the a.m. when I wake up, I ache all over.  A hot, pulsating shower takes care of that).

Do you get the forearm cramps every time you row, or just occasionally?  I'm going to ask the onc in August about going off Femara for a few weeks, to see if that makes any difference.  I've noted here that others have done that, and their symptoms cleared up.

hello , I am on letrozole and have painful joints , trigger thumb and general all over pain mostly in the morning . This morning woken up with severe cramp in right leg it is quite worrying because I have just been diagnosed with osteoporosis neck of femur and base of spine , could this cause a fracture ? I have decided to take prescribed calcium , attend gym with physio twice a week and take a calcium rich diet , should I reconsider biphosphanates ? Feel there are too many side effects   Also any advice to control cramping . Thank you very much
