GI PROBLEMS FROM ARIMIDEX?
Comments

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask once again if a lot of you gals are having GI problems since starting Arimidex? i.e.; Diarrhea, watery stools and or
bad stomach cramps. I know I've asked this question once before but didn't receive much input. Thanks ahead of time for any personal
experience information your able to share with me.

i, m doing fine. Stiff fingers when I first wake up, but good in minutes. No soft stools etc. Have you had a colonoscopy? Some say colon issues and bc are related. I hope others chime in soon.

Just read your post. I have been having GI problems for quite a while. Been on Anastrozole for almost 2 years now an I am having problems with stomach cramping, loose bowels, alternating with constipation, and my esophagus spasms have gotten more intense. Other serious SE's are severe bone and muscle pain, weight gain, hair loss, serious short-term memory loss, some confusion, insomnia (only sleep 3 hours at a time), more headaches. My husband says my personality has changed as well. I'm trying to last for the necessary 5 years, but my knees have gotten so bad I'm not sure I can tough it out. I'm surprised there are not more members out there with stomach issues. Hope you are feeling better.

I too have gastric issues. In fact I was getting ready to start a thread until I found this one. I have been on all of the AIs and have been off of them since last July due to my inability to walk from the pain. The ortho thinks that the AIs not only were hard on my joints but also weakened ligaments, tendons, etc. and have resulted in me being in the process of two total knee replacements at the age of 51. Anyway, back to the stomach issues. I have had constant feeling of being bloated and my body inflamed for quite a long time and have not been able to get a diagnosis on what it is. I just had an allergy test last week and I have allergies that the allergist will treat but he did not feel that these other symptoms were from that. I did a search on here to see if it might be something from treatment that may have triggered something. I am in the midst of looking at h. pylori and hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid) or IBS. I tried a low stomach acid home test this morning that was positive. However, the article I read said that their was a better home test for that but I will need to get some stuff to try it out. Perhaps someone who has had issues with their GI can enlighten us on it.

I have been on Arimidex since March 2014 and since that time my waist has increased 9 inches! I look 6 months pregnant, and am very sure it is caused by Arimidex since I have been on a very strict diet of no sugar, wheat and dairy. I also have severe joint pain and could barely tolerate the ankle/ toe pain when I was walking today. I question whether it is worth the pain and other SE's .
I also suffer from insomnia and constipation, but I had that before starting Arimidex, so can't blame that.
Well, one day at a time and only another 9 years to go on this little white pill...
