Hey ladies...

Just relocated close to Atlanta,GA (close to Smyrna and Marietta) and need to find a new oncologist.  Was hoping some folks might have some suggestions for me.

Looking to find out what your experiences have been with them and your thoughts...Do they do tumor marker tests?  Do they perform scans or only when symptoms come up?

Anything else you can tell me would be appreciated as well..Thanks so much!

Tori

Dr Al Solton with Georgia Cancer Specialists is wonderful. Doesnt do scans, but does do tumor marker tests. I started out with Emory, Dr Zelnak. Nightmarish scenario...Emory is a terrible drive and you end up waiting for HOURS. Its really not a pleasant place. I wish I had found Dr Solton earlier. He knows every study without me making copies to bring him. He stays very on top of current research, and his demeanor is the best. He is a very warm, kind positive man.

    Good luck!!

I go to Dr. Hillary Hahm at Northwest Georgia Oncology.  It is located at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, so should be close to you.  She is very good and I have a lot of confidence in her.  My very first consultation appointment with her was the Friday of Labor Day weekend.  My appointment was at 3 and she stayed with me until almost 6 answering questions and trying to put me at ease.  She has been my oncologist for six years.  Good luck with whoever you select!
