LOL!! -
When I was in high school there was a pond on the grounds next to the path between buildings and there were a pair of Canada Geese that lived there and used to flap their wings and scare the students.
-
Few more Florida friends

^..^

good one
-
LOL.
-
Could have been worse, a Canada goose on the car. LOL
Here is the little Carolina Wren waiting on the roof for its turn at the feeder.
-
MJ When I saw your first pic I was thinking where in Illinois did she find those birds. Then I scrolled down. I did hear that there are Sandhill Cranes in St. Charles. (Probably not here now though) Guess what road they would cross very slowly and hold up traffic, Crane Rd. They must be very intelligent because they can read. LOL
-
Lizzysmom, I had a post to you that went poof. I have had trouble with BCO the last few days. I will try again. I had a Canada goose on my roof one day this year. Hate to see what it did up there!
Your little Carolina wren is so cute. I am not sure if we have those here or not. I hear wrens more than see them.

I visited my swan family again today. This place gives me so much peace but it was cold and windy. The little box in the pond apparently has feed in it. I took some time to just watch the swans without taking pics. I watched one of the babies eating out of the little box and a squirrel was able to get quite close to it and the baby swan started making this hissing sound at it. It was very entertaining to watch. I was going to snap a pic of them together but the squirrel didn't stay around too long. It maybe has been charged by the swans before. One of the adults came swimming in to protect the little one even though they aren't so little anymore.
The end! (literally)
-
The local hospital / cancer center used to have swans, but to many children while trying to pet the goslings got attacked by the parents!
-
there is something magical about swans and weeping willows...
I need to wash my windows..
-
I love the swan photos. The little ones are getting so big and I so agree with Lisa about swans and weeping willows, a beautiful combination.
Lisa, What is that little guy? He is so cute. I can barely take photos from my bedroom window, and certainly no good ones as I have tried cleaning it but the outside gets covered in feed. Suet is the worst!!
-
Teka, They have a sign not to get too close because the swans are aggressive. They don't want anyone feeding them either. The swan family seemed to be more afraid this time. It is funny because they make this funny sound which I am sure is like a warning to the others. Then they start swimming to the other side of the pond. Luckily I can access two sides of it. It is a beautiful setting around the whole complex.
-
Thanks Lizzysmom. I have been there a few times and the babies are starting to get that black on their face. At a distance I can't tell the white babies from the parents. Yes, there is something magical about this place for me. When you are there it seems very secluded with all the trees and weeping willows but there is a very busy road right next to it. I think Lisa's little guy is a white crowned sparrow. We have something that looks like that moving through in the spring time. I didn't see any this year though. Of course this whole last spring was a total blur.
-
Two pix in the same bush today
-
Wow Lisa, a twofer. How exciting. I love that purple. It just sets off the whole pics.
Take care everyone. Off to my mom's for ten days. Leaving tomorrow. If I have time for any photos of birds I will try to post them.
Nancy
-
Nancy, have an enjoyable trip.
Lisa, such colorful photos.
Lyzzy, I hate filling the suet feeders.
MJ, often go to Florida?
I no longer hear or see Summer birds. Maybe, some flocks passing through later in October.
-
Thanks Teka. I look out for any low flying Canada geese.
-
Teka - we try to go atleast 2x's every year. We have friends who have a condo directly across the street from the beach. It is awesome to have your toes in the sand!! I love watching the little birds (don't know names) running back and forth along the shore feeding. They are so cute. The turtle was a nice bonus!!!
Lisa - beautiful pictures!!! Love the butterfly!
-
MJ,
I've been to Florida 5 times over the years with good weather!
-
Lisa, great shots and at the same bush too. Wonderful capture of the little hummer!!
I took some shots of the Canada geese at the office today. I just caught part of a flyover but they never got me or the car!!
-
Lizzysmom,
Canada geese are really very beautiful as long as we aren't the recipients of their deposits. LOL I don't usually see them sitting down. Nice pics.
-
I forgot my good camera today at the soccer field..saw this hawk flying then when I took out my pocket camera he had landed
-
Nice hawk shot! -
Went out yesterday looking for pelicans on the lake and couldn't find them. I didn't want to leave without taking some shots. It was drizzling. Not a nice day out.
-
Nancy, Sorry the pelicans did not come to see you. These creatures have a habit of not appearing when we want them to LOL but I love the ducks. The second one definitely looks like he has a lot to say!!
-
I had some other pics of a few together on some piers but they had left such icky deposits all over it sort of ruined the whole pictures so I didn't post those. You're welcome. LOL My sister checked on FB to see if anyone would respond as to where the pelicans were. I think they are still here but I don't know how to maneuver around the lake very well even though I grew up in this town. We lived on the other side of town so I wasn't driving out that way as a teeny bopper much. It has constantly rained since I got here so there has not been much opportunity for photo opps anyway. The day I took these ducks it was misting and I didn't want to ruin my new camera so I was a taking as many pics as I could before running to the car.

Husband and I found that the sweet eastern phoebes continue to build a mud-and-grass nest under our camp roof.
I doubt if the same birds after all these years!
Husband took the following nest photo.
-
Such a cute little bird. Must be fun watching them in your nest.
