Lizzysmom, I have actually gotten out for three days in a row with my camera. Probably a first. I am trying to take more time for me. Since the spring was a wash and a good part of the summer I am trying to enjoy these glorious days we have had all in a row. It is about as perfect a weather pattern here as I can imagine. I had my mammogram on Monday and got the all clear and talked with the radiologist herself for quite a long time. Today I get a letter saying my mammogram was "probably" benign but might need further checking. I'm am going what? She told me she saw where the surgical sight was. At this point I don't like to hear the word probably. I guess it is better than the alternative. I had my ultrasound yesterday and the tech asked me if I had done any other tests. I had already told her before she started about the lab work coming back normal. Of course they won't say a word but by her asking me that I am interpreting it as she didn't find anything. I might be way off though. I didn't hear anything in the electronic records and no phone calls so I am assuming I will hear something on Monday. Yesterday I made it all day and all night and didn't have any issues until the night. I also had to get up in the night because I had a splitting headache. I did get an allergy shot today and it could be that or a SE. Time will tell. It has been nice to get outside and feel good during the day so hopefully this is a good sign.

My pic was a white egret but it didn't look like the way we usually see them.  I don't usually see them in a tree! My sister told me that the migrating pelicans have arrived in my hometown so I hope they are still there in October. My mom's birthday is coming in Oct. She will be 89 and I hope to get downstate for a little while. Actually I was talking to this man about where to find bald eagles and then he said look over there in the trees. He said there was an eagle there and when I looked I only saw a big white spot. I didn't mean to be rude to him but I said I have got to go check this out. LOL I didn't find any eagle but found this egret. Usually I can't get near them, I was pretty far away and protected by lots of branches. So it was fun with this big zoom.

Well have a great weekend everyone.

That was a beautiful egret Nancy. I should have known since I took some pics of them down in Florida and even got DH to get me a birdwatching book for my birthday but my brain is not working fully! Hopefully everything is just fine with the tests and they are just being thorough. Doctors don't like to commit themselves. I know I never had a lump before BC but now the surgical area feels lumpy with scar tissue so I expect they do have to check it out.

Lets hope you feel good and get out tmore with the camera this weekend. You have got me itching to take a look at the powershot with big zoom now and I swore I would not spend more.Lol It will be great if you can get to see your mom and the egrets are there. We hope to take a trip in October to Virginia and there is a pond there where I have taken some of my photos that attracts some lovely wildlife.

I hope the headache is gone for good and you can get some sleep. The FITBIT I bought is very interesting. I wear it on my wrist at night and its supposed to track how restless you are and therefore how long you sleep. I have slept badly for years. Now I know for sure LOL. It decided I only slept for 3 1/2 hours on Wednesday night even though I was in bed for 8 hours. Now I have proof!!

Lizzsymom, I posted someplace recently about the new Canon 60x zoom coming out next month. This technology is really nice but trying to keep up with the latest is not going to happen with me. LOL I would have to have my head buried in a camera manual for the rest of my life. YIKES

Hope you can get to Virginia. I bet the leaves will be spectacular then. I have fibromyalgia and it has even been termed a sleep disorder. I was so fatigued during my teaching career that I could fall asleep standing in a corner. Now that I have been retired for three years I started having all sorts of sleep issues. If I don't have any apts the next day I can sleep in which I do a lot. I am more of a night person anyway.

I am not sure if we have talked about this but I have no feeling whatsoever around my surgery site and the underarm area. I see my surgeon on Wed so that will be one of the first questions out of my mouth. I never had a lump either. I still have a seroma so I have lots of fluid still hanging around. I had it drained a few weeks after surgery but it comes back.

I was out watering my flowers in the dark tonight and I happened to think about my little toads that I had seen quite often in the summer and wondered if they were gone now. Sure enough I saw one of the little guys jump into the shadows. I wish I could get a pic of them but I only see them at night.

Hope you have a good weekend. I don't remember having a gorgeous weather pattern like this in a long time. I am trying to make the most of it. Enjoy the weekend.

Lisa, is that a painting?  It's beautiful.

Bandwoman, It's really common to have no feeling in that area. I have a little and that's more than most. It changes as the nerves try to regenerate, but I'm still mostly numb.

Thanks Wren. Looking at the year you joined BCO I am assuming that was the year you had your surgery. I guess it must take a very long time. I had a really serious neck surgery several years ago and it affected the nerves down my arm. It took a long time for that to heal so I guess it is normal.

Nancy, I am not really numb. I think that may be because BS only took one node. The skin looks fine now after rads but the texture is different, very smooth. Its not bad, just different. The weather is just gorgeous. I felt terribly tired today but I did force myself to get out and walk around the neighborhood so managed a couple of miles or so

Lizzysmom, Does Tamoxifen cause tiredness. Armidex does. I think exercising does help that so good for you to get out there and walk.  I don't know if I already mentioned this but my surgeon took out the tumor and three nodes with only one large incision. I am not sure if that is why my nerves are affected so much or what. I knew it was normal to be numb at first but I thought by now I would start to get some feeling back.  I had so many errands to run today that I didn't get to do anything in the way of exercise. I was happy to see this little guy at my new feeder so going to a new perch feeder seemed to be the ticket for him anyway. I went to pick up my blown up swan picture today. I was a little disappointed in the way they cropped it. We were looking at it on the computer and the guy said they could make it so that the last duck was clearly in the picture with room to spare. In the final product that didn't happen like I thought he showed me on the computer. I asked them to give me a ball park of what it would be to have matted and framed. They don't do this.  The photo is 12"x18". He said around $300. Gee whiz. I had one done quite a few years ago and it was quite large and it was around $200 so I was sort of hoping it would be around $200. The way that they cropped it I don't think I can frame it myself because the duck tail feathers are going to get lost. Oh well. Something else to put on the to do list and figure out. The picture overall came out nicely.

    Loving this weather!

Nancy BW..have you looked into canvas prints...I just love the ones that wrap around..so you don't need a frame..

Costco..CVS alot of stores have them to order and they are not really expensive...there is also

EAZL.com which I really like to use...I have had six prints they did for me...some small some large..

The wrap around look makes it almost look 3D

Nancy,I love your little goldfinch! Adorable!Glad he likes the new feeder!

I think the tamoxifen does cause tiredness, but still not sure if its also a hangover from rads. Yesterday I had little energy but today I got more done that I have in a long time. I had weird nightmares last night (definitely tamoxifen related). Today I managed to get to the gym by 8 am. It was a gorgeous morning. I walked/jogged 4 miles on the treadmill and did a few weights then came home and took the dog for a walk around the block. Then I cleaned the fishtank (55 gallon) that has been neglected while I have not felt so great, made a trip to the pet store which specializes in fish, and restocked it with some additional fish and new (fake) plants. I had lost a few fish recently so think some were a bit lonely. They seemed very perky meeting their new tank mates.

I am thinking that maybe your numbness could be related to the size of the incision. My BS did a small separate incision for the SNB and it is barely noticable now so I have to count myself very fortunate.

I was so disappointed to hear that your photo got cropped the way it did, by a professional printer at that!. I print my own photos, up to 13" X 19". If you had been here I would have had a go at printing it. Sometimes cropping cant be avoided if printing borderless but if you allow a border then the photo can be custom sized within it. Would they be willing to do it again with a small border? I usually print with a border, sometimes a black one. It IS difficult to get exact color matching when printing yourself but I will print a smaller size until the color is good enough and then print the large size once hopefully as my ink is so expensive. I have a Canon Pixma PRO 100 that does wide photo printing and I love it. Then I buy frames from Amazon for $25 that perfectly fit the 13 X19. Its probably not as good as having it framed professionally but its a whole lot cheaper and it takes like 5 mins!

Christmas Day 2012 at the local Lake

Aviva, Is that a blue heron? I don't think I have seen one up here, only when I have been down further South.

Lisa, I will have to look into that. The clinic where I had radiation had the neatest photography that graced the whole place. It was probably done in canvas like you are talking about. This camera place also printed me some smaller swan pics and the cropping was great and more even on those and it had a small border. I know I don't understand all the dimentions and how things get lost when you are blowing up photos. They did not print a border on the large one. I am going to be working on a bigger project and now that I know I won't be having it all professionally framed I may do things differently. I have a retiree from one of my schools that live down the street. She had told me in the past if I need any framing done her husband does that so...............? I might just ask without any intent to commit.

Nice heron shot Aviva. I don't think I would want to make any of them angry. They can look pretty scary! They will never pose for me. They see me and fly. I didn't think I looked THAT scary!

Lizzysmom, Looks like the Canada geese have all gathered just for a great photo op for you!  I am glad you felt like doing a big chore today and that did sound like a big chore. I saw your fish tank. Very pretty. I am sure your new fish will enjoy the pretty scenery. I had my radiation a little earlier than you did and it took me quite a while to not feel that fatigue. With all the other stuff going on I haven't been tuned into the fatigue as much but I don't think it is there like it was even a few weeks ago. Feeling up to cleaning a large fish tank is a good sign. Working out is great also. I hope to get back to swimming really soon.

Nancy, Those little ducks look like they can't decide whether to go for a swim or not. I hope you get to start swimming soon!! I managed a swim when I was up in Maine and it just felt so good. The place were we were staying had just about the most perfect water I have ever experienced. The pool was warm even though the weather was cool in the morning. The water seemed very slightly saline, no chlorine smell and it did not hurt the eyes. It was just so relaxing and I did about 600 meters of mainly lazy breaststroke (as I have always found freestyle without a snorkel very difficult Lol) and definitely felt so much better afterwards.

A little catbird hit our window this morning.  Luckily it was just stunned.  I picked it up and warmed it with my hands and it perched on my finger for the longest time.  It was so cool to see one so close.  It struck me how intelligent it's brown eyes looked, it made me wonder what it was thinking.  I wish I had a picture of it but when I stood up it finally flew away.

    Maiden,

I am glad your bird was just stunned. I hate to see when they hit the windows. I am glad you had a chance to have it on your finger. Those are special and rare times. Enjoy the day.

I hope everyone knows about the window decals you can buy to alert birds that they can't fly thru. They're not very large and don't interfere with the view, but birds take warning when they see them.

Good idea Wren. I bought some and never put them up. Silly me. I had one season where the birds were continually crashing into my patio doors. I haven't felt like washing them this season so maybe that is the reason I have not heard any crashes.

Aviva, Every time I pass a retention pond or anything with water I am always on the lookout for those birds. Glad you found them. I am amazed that they are in Illinois. They just seem like they should be in Florida.
