hi hermies, Bippy is getting to work early on her surgery shopping list. Today DH took her goodwill shopping!  Got 3 pairs of button up silky pjs, one mumu-zip up with pockets, 3 large mens hawaian button up short sleeved shirts and one fleece robe.  I did not want to spend a fortune on new things, and frankly never want to see any of them once i am recovered.  Bippy plans to mostly be in the PJs!

It has been torrential rains here every night. Love it, but wish cooler weather was here. Hate the heat!!

DH is working later today and I will be trying to do some housecleaning.

i hear ya Teka--got the recliner, but hope to be trading it in for an automatic power reclining sofa!

Question for those that had surgery already. I have an inflatable queen size bed which is on a platform. So it's not directly on the ground.  Any chance I will be able to sleep on that after my drains come out? Or even before if I get the wedge pillows?   Will I be able to get out of it by myself if it's about a foot off the ground?

I feel like I'm going to have many restless nights and don't want to wake up DH by sleeping in our regular bed.

Hermits- busy weekend but here to say hi!

Teka- I saw pics of them with their wedding bands so it happened. I expect in another week or so, there will be a People issue (if not many other mags) featuring the wedding photos. They do look happy!

Bippy- I think given you are the one who is having surgery and recovering, you need to be in the bed and let DH sleep on the inflatable bed. You are going to want to be as comfortable as possible post surgery.

Mommy- I find sometimes I have to call the doctors off 2-3 times anymore to get what I need. Ridiculous!

Enjoyed a lovely wedding last night for my friend and her new husband. It was outdoors at a nearby hotel and they just had a perfect day for it. After the reception was an open bar for awhile (whoot whoot) and I saw a few people I knew there, but one of the groups felt a bit too cliquey for me so I sat at a table with some of the grooms family and just had the best time. Such warm and welcoming people. One of the gals from the prof org group I was not comfortable sitting with came over to visit later (I like her a lot) and we had a good visit. We were all dancing the night away and then moved indoors and then at that point, it felt like it was time to go home.

Today I met a friend for brunch and went to a harvest festival in the same little town and enjoyed that. Farmers market and craft fair were all excellent.

Jazzy is tired and needs a nap! Some pictures coming later! I know you love pictures!

Sally- I think you have your procedure tomorrow to check on that mass they have been watching. We will be in your pocket, and please let us know how things go there as you wish too. As Teka would say, we are positive for good outcomes for you!

It's been a few days since I've checked in - Just busy with work all week and tired by the end of the day.  Spent today purchasing a new dining room table, as we "donated" ours to our son for his new place.  Drove to the coast to a wonderful antique/home decor shop that I fell in love with last time I was there, and found the perfect, old farmhouse table.  Got in a nice walk on the beach while we were there too.  Now we'll have to find some chairs/benches to go with the table.

Blondie - Hope you feel better, and it's not the flu.

Bippy - Forgive me, I'm not sure what type of surgery you're having, but if you're having a BMX or UMX you might find it very difficult to get up off of a mattress that's only a foot off of the ground.  It was hard enough for me to get up and out of my regular bed, and I had a UMX so still had one arm to help push me up and around.  You will want as much softness and comfort as you can get, and I'm not sure an inflatable mattress fits the bill!

Hi to every one else, Jazzy, Cami, Mags, Teka, Mommy, Onco, Lily, Ducky, Sally!

    Have a wonderful week.

Hate having to chase the doc for anything. I have even had to fight to get one of my prescriptions filled four times in one day because of his idiot staff

Good morning hermits- slept well and up early to go to the gym for personal training at 8 a.m. (ugh!)

Mommy- sometimes no "care" in healthcare.......

Monis- glad you found a new table and hope you can find the chairs to go with it easily too! The walk on the beach sounded so nice too.

I hope everyone has a decent start to the week. October on the horizon.

Onco- congrats on getting away for a bit, even though you went home for awhile each day. Baby steps with resuming things you used to do without too much pressure. Maybe next time you can do a weekend further away and see how you feel?

I find keeping the conversations "lite" with people I know or even strangers helps me the most. I can handle a little bit of small talk, but move quickly away from anything confrontational or whiny. Life is too short to listen to people endless opinions or unhappiness.

Today is national coffee day. Drink up ladies!

good morning hermits!  Glad to hear about some of your travels outside of the house.  I have been pretty queasy this week so have not made it far. I was able to resume my walking regimen last night for the first time in days.

What a pleasure to eat like a normal human being. Just devoured Chinese food with DH, and it was wonderful!  I had to shitcan my protein shakes, they have soy. Went to the post office and now resting in the recliner.  still tire out easily after doing really nothing!  I'm not fighting it though--just going with it.

I'm extra sad today though because a very good friend of ours is dying of small Squamus lung cancer. This is one of the deadliest kinds of cancer and he was stage 4 before they even knew. It's everywhere but his bones-liver, lungs, brain, stomach, and a big tumor wrapping around his esophagus. Last chance visit to Dana-Farber today, but he's chemoed-out, skin and bones and very very sick--even if they had a miracle clinical trial it's too late, given the condition he's in now.

it makes me realize how lucky I am that at least I have good chances of recovery------at least they can cut off the problem part of my body.  they told him  that he had zero chance except to buy some time. He is such an amazing friend, devoted husband, wonderful son, and loving father of two grown children. We miss him already. I hate this disease.

For those that pray,  please send a prayer for my friend Kevin and his family today, for comfort and peace. Also not adverse to miracles.

Bippy- I am glad you enjoyed a good meal with DH. Little things like this matter when going through treatment. I still appreciate the small things in life way after the fact.....

I also send you my heartfelt prayers for your friend who is dying from cancer. I hope that hospice or whatever else is available can help make him comfortable at the end, which from your description, sounds very near now. Cancer is a terrible disease, and we bc patients are often more fortunate as breast cancer is so highly treatable compared to most other types of cancer.

    Peace sister.

I am slowly returning to the land of the living, though weak as a kitten. And my tongue is still burning like I drank something really really hot. Nothing seems to help that, though some things make it worse.

Bippy, I lost a brother in law to small cell squamous cancer in 2000. He was not yet 50. It is a horrendous way to go, and I will keep Kevin and his family in my prayers. Please keep us up to date, if you will.

I had to do the same with my protein drinks, but cousin found a whey protein powder which I can mix up in my one-serving blender easily. And if I added ice cream to it, who would know?

Mags- I am so sorry you are struggling through this chemo. Thank god you are almost done with this part of the treatment. I wish you better days ahead.

Also very sorry about the loss of your brother. My brother passed 22 years ago next month. Never have stopped missing him.

Blondie- no big plans this weekend. The balloon fiesta starts here this weekend so like all good locals, we lay low and stay away from the crowds. I expect to see a lot of balloons around though. Maybe a bike ride down near the river where some of them will come down from the park.

Hermettes, thanks all for the prayers...

Mags, hope you are better today.

Anyone try probiotics for tummy issues?  I started yesterday and already have relief. Was gassy, bloated, explosively flatulent, crampy and nausea &  diarhea had returned.  Misery, for days on end.   I have some hope maybe the remainder of chemo will be tolerable now.  Digestive issues and nausea have haunted me for the last month!

Major house cleaning today, errands, and preps for friend's visit Friday.  Weather is lovely this am, fall FINALLY on the way!

Last day of September is sunny in the North Country.

Today, only going to clean-up the (v) garden.

Is anyone going on a vacation in October?

Husband and I, just day trips.

October is my favorite time in the Fall.
