    I just got back from my Mom's house after she had a terrible fall. Thank God her hip wasn't broken but she has 3 broken toes, 3 broken bones in her foot, bruised ribs, numerous facial lacerations and too many bruises to count. And yeah I know it could have been worse, I'm not moaning. She's 84 and I'm lucky to still have her, especially since I lost my Dad two days after my 13th birthday. Here's my point. I had to deal with 3 days of medical bureaucracy and pompous ass doctors and .....well, you probably know the drill. I was staying up all night with her and dealing with the BS in the daytime and I was at the end of my rope. After dealing with one haughty, uncaring woman at the orthopedic appliance place for two hours and getting nowhere, I finally broke. Usually I try to stay pretty Zen but dammit, this is my mother! I swear I may even have heard something snap in my head. I found myself yelling, "Lady, the last three days have been hell! You've made it perfectly clear you couldn't care less about my situation and I suggest you look into another career path. I've been trying to keep it together and stay sane and I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PISS ON MY SHOES!!!!! ".............I don't know where it came from or exactly what it means but it is now my new motto! I'm trying to have a good day, so don't piss on my shoes! I walked out, went to another place and got my mom's rollator in 10 minutes. So I'm thinking of having T shirts printed. BC and it's treatments may take away some of our brain cells, but it compensates with some snappy (weird) comebacks!

    Ohhhh Sorry to hear about your mom. Sounds owie, but she will be ok.

    rohanna, I am so sorry to hear about your mom :-(  Sounds like you had a bitch of a time getting things together for her.  I can't stand having to deal with people who just don't give a damn about those who they are suppose to be working for.  I recall when my mom had surgery a few years ago, no one wanted to make sure she was taking the right pills or doing anything to get her healed and up and moving.  Instead, they had her drugged up and were probably hoping that she would stay in the rehab (short for nursing home) until her insurance ran out.  Anyway, I'm glad your mom has you to help her since it seems our moms don't have the same feistiness they once did... of course we get to carry that torch now ;-).

    Taking care of our moms as they age can certainly be a challenge without the headache of bitchy office workers. I have to say everyone at the orthopedics office went above and beyond. Not so the orthopedic appliance place. I think if you're in the business of helping the elderly or the sick, you should at least have a reasonable facsimile of a heart. It's ok though because I've discovered my inner bitch and they'd better check themselves.

    Just heard today of the death of singer Jimi Jamison. I know a lot of people recognize him as the lead singer of Survivor but few know of his generosity to many charities. I met Jimi when I was 17. We used to sneak into the clubs where he played in Memphis because we were huge fans. (Yeah, underage, I know.) One day I answered a knock at the door and he was standing on our porch. He was looking for our neighbor and wanted to know if he could come in and wait for him. I don't think I ever said anything beyond"uhhhhhhhhhhhhh............." He was kind enough to sit and let me stare at him until our neighbor came home. I saw him perform many times over the years and he was always excellent. But most of all, her never stopped raising money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. He will be greatly missed.

    Very glad you uttered that new phrase. Very original. Yay, you're Banti blood just  blew her socks off , another YAY.  Sorry Mom's having trouble. Have you told her about our Banti talk, she'd probably get a kick out of it :) If you grew up with Banti's , she did too!.

    Thanks, SAS. Jimi was the lead singer of Survivor. You know, "Eye of the Tiger"? He was a Memphis boy through and through. Gonna miss his music and his gorgeous face.

    Mom knows about the Banti girls! She gets a kick out of it. The last banti she had was named "SmartyPants". He used to scare the crap out of the pit bull. And me! He lived to a ripe old age and died with a snarl on his beak.

    Getting ready to dress up the scarecrow as a Zombie for Halloween! Holla!

    It's been quite on many of the threads I read.  I'm actually tempted to delete some of them as they aren't uplifting in anyway.  Of course, I would never delete our cheezed off group :-).  I supposed I'm cheezed off these days because my mood has fallen flat.  This seems to happen once a year and it can vary as to when.  I'm not what I would call depressed, but just kinda irritable.  No real reason anyway.  It seems like everyone's mood in my family is effecting me in one way or another.  I need someone positive to happen and something exciting whether it's happening to my kids or me.  Okay, done whining...

    I hear you! Even though I'm in Florida I'm having my usual OMG winter is coming anxiety. Been here 30 years and I still can't get over that. 

    Plus some extra personal stress and crap, feeling kind of dumpy. It will pass. I hope!

    It's still over 100 degrees where I am.  It's like being snowed in, except it's toasted in.  I can't get out to exercise since it's too damn hot and I am too draggy to get up and walk or bike at 5 or 6am since I treasure my sleep.  Can't win.  Definitely feeling dumpy.  Perfect word!

    Spookie, What a thought! Remember those pictures of women in long skirts and petticoats and aprons and long sleeves and high necks? That's what they wore. It's a wonder any of them survived. And my great-grandmother had sun bonnets which she wore outside in addition to all the other stuff. My Grandmother told me about ironing with the irons heating on a wood stove in the middle of the summer. She was totally into modern conveniences.

    My grandma in Ky used a wood burning stove year round. Canned the garden too. The house did have electric, but no running water or in door toilets. Yes, I've seen those pics and thought, how did they survive a hot flash in all of that?

    Hey, Cheezers! Sorry for the absence, been down at the farm taking care of Mom. She may have to have surgery on her foot. We'll know Tuesday.

    It's strange how this time of year can bring spirits down. Someone told me it was a drop in air pressure brought about by the change on seasons. Ooooook. Works for me. When I get really down, I go to YouTube and watch Eddie Izzard videos. Always makes me laugh hard enough to need Depends. 

    My DH put a wood-burning insert into our fireplace years ago and it reminds me of falling asleep in the "big chair" at my grandmother's house next to the wood stove. I love the way a wood fire smells. Just don't like hauling the ashes! 

    Heading back to Mom's for a few days so I may be off here for a while. Gonna celebrate my birthday at her house on Tuesday. So don't think I've abandoned you. I think about my fellow Cheezers every day! HUGS!

    Happy Birthday Rohanna!  Good luck with your mom and hopefully, if she does need surgery, it will be an easy one.  My mom is going in for a medical procedure on Wednesday.  She was telling me that she was scared and nervous.  Sje wanted me to fly in knowing very well that I can't.  I mentioned that she had this done twice before and it was easy and helped her.  She's really starting to lose her short term memory and unfortunately can't look back to a few months ago and recall that it was a positive procedure. :-(.  I'll cross my fingers for your mom and you can cross your fingers for mine.

    GS#1 is a hurricane baby. GS#2 might be, I don't remember. #1 is in June. DH is a WW2 home on leave baby. DD was planned, I'm an Oooops

    Hey everyone, thanks for the birthday wishes. Still no decision on the surgery on mom's foot but she's out of the cast and in a walking boot. She's still not allowed to walk though. ?????

    OK, let me get this straight. The NFL doesn't want players doing touchdown dances because it's unsportsmanlike, but they'll cover up players punching women? Reason number 300 why I hate the NFL!

    Oh. Did you see P&G is not donating pink mouth guards to the NFL, but will donate $100,000 to awareness. It's a small start I guess.

    I so agree with you, Spook. And I think it starts early. Schools put way too much emphasis on sports and not enough on the arts and sciences. I haven't liked any pro sports teams since the '86 Mets!
