Liposuction to "even out"

Having had an unsuccessful 2 revisions of the diep reconstruction, and still a cup size (maybe more) on one side, does anyone know if lipo alone will correct this and even up the girls?  I really hate the thought of undergoing more revision in the hospital.  I know I can always go back and talk with the PS but since I wasn't happy with the previous revisions, am reluctant to go the conventional route. Hoping someone with similar result can offer some insight and whether or not you went to a same-day lipo clinic, etc.   --Shelly

    Hi Shelly

I had liposuction to get myself 'evened-out'.  I had my surgery on the NHS and they didn't do a bad job!  I had to stay in overnight, so no sure about a same-day lipo clinic.

Sarah - thankx -- I don't know if I really want to do anything at this point.  You did lumpectomy which is far less surgery than what I did.  I did the diep reconstruction and it is not uncommon to have to do anywhere from 1 or 2 revisions up to 5 or 6.

Hi, Shelly.  I had a DIEP, too.  It was after a UMX and really extensive radiation; there was a LOT of radiation damage my PS had to dig out.  I just had my 4th revision, all outpatient, to get symmetry, remove a huge, caved-in radiation burn scar, and even up the nipples.  The recon looks great now.

My advice is to check out another PS, if you're unhappy with your original surgeon.  He/she can probably help with symmetry with an outpatient procedure that your insurance will help cover.  Even if all you want is lipo, you'd still need a medical setting and anesthesia for it.

    Just my thoughts.  Best wishes!

Sbeliz:  thanks and WOW - you had 4 revisions so I guess I've had just 2 but did not have any nipple recon work either. I just wanted to focus on symmetry and how I look in clothes.   Now changing insurance companies so really don't know if or how much coverage I'll have with the new plan.  My onc and original surgeon for BMX kept complimenting me on the diep result so I feel good at least for that.  take care
