Hi Everyone -
I'm off to bed in a minute, but wanted to stop in and say hi.
ANMom - How did your first treatment go?
Jan - welcome! Hope you're doing well. I did DD AC/Taxol.
Not Me - I'm also jealous! Wish my DH was into doing stuff like that. He likes relaxing on vacation while I like to go and do everything there is to see/do.
Does anyone still want to go to the Toledo Zoo? If yes, when would be good?
Anyone have any dates for a lunch or something? My weekends are pretty much free so far for September.
Irene -
Wow, I have wanted to see the Toledo Zoo for years and would love to meet some of you. Please let me know if you plan this. Thanks.
I'm really enjoying these last feel good days and trying to get as much done as I can before next Wed. chemo treatment. One good thing about feeling so crappy is when you feel good again you really appreciate every min.
Have a good weekend everyone. Hugs Jan -
Hi All,
As you all said, dreading the first treatment was worse than the treatment. Felt great yesterday, a bit fatigued today. But I'm done surfing - gonna go sleep through the movie my hubby is watching.
Hugs,
Anne -
Hi everyone, Well, tomorrow I have my second chemo. I sure hope it goes as well as the last one. The first few days were not great but do-able, also had the headaches
Hope everyone is recovering well. Take care. Jan -
Hi Everyone!
I finally made it back on. Almost a month without my computer!! I really missed being to catch up on how everyone is doing. I had my 4th treatment a week ago tomorrow, and I'm finding out that for me - its getting harder to recover with each one. I seem to be tired all the time and pain in my legs from the neulasta is constant. Even the vicodin doesn't seem to help much. But I'm hanging tough. grrrrrrrr
take care and I hope ya'll are doing ok
Kristy -
Welcome back, Kristy. Aren't computers wonderful??
Treatment #2 is done, and again I'm not sleeping tonight. This part I could live without. Of course I'd sleep better if I was sleeping and not surfing. Maybe I ought to go to bed. -
Hi Everyone,
I have been MIA for awhile-so much has been going on in my life..who knew?? Still feeling poorly..back to the oncologist since all my blood counts are abnormal.
Welcome to all the new ladies that have joined:-) What is the plan for meeting? I'm game if it is not too far away. Me and my barcolounger have been enjoying eachother.
Anyways, hope everyone had a delightful summer..on to winter.
Here's hoping to everyone feeling well.
Peace, Lorie -
Hi Everyone,
Okay, since no one else is picking a date, how about Saturday, the 16th? Novi seems to be the location of choice for past get togethers. Fine with me, although a little more north/east would be good too.
Anyone who really wants to go to Toledo (Nancy - where are you? This was your idea!)? It doesn't matter to me whether it's on the weekend or during the week.
Jan - I know it's too late for this past treatment, but it sometimes helps the headaches if they do the drip a little slower. I had horrible headaches my first treatment, but didn't for the rest.
Kristy - Neulasta sucks, doesn't it? I recently read a post where someone said their counts were high enough to lower the dosage of Neulasta, which helped a bit with the bone pain.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. We're mostly hanging out at home getting all the things done that we couldn't do all summer, what with my broken foot and DH's knee surgery. I'm finally getting rid of the ugly bath fixtures in my bathroom. Yay!
Irene -
I'm still hanging in there! There are so many newbies - welcome everyone.
Irene, the 16th is not good for me. I think any other weekend works for me though. I would like to catch up with everyone.
LorieAnne - good to hear from you.
I got mail from Komen that was a recap of the race. It said something like - how about "breastcancer.org's blow up boy's". I have no idea what that meant up the visual is funny. They were talking about the different team's t-shirts and banners. I'm sure we were the only breastcancer.org team.
Komen's website is still not updated. Oh well, maybe by the 2007 race?
Nancy -
hey!!!!!!
i bet they meant the 2 nephews of ????? (sorry chemo brain)......who were dressed in those big clown suits.
they walked with us remember? -
Any weekend is good for me also. Anyone else want to pick a date? Maybe one of the ladies going through treatment would like to schedule it on their "off" week?
Anyone heard from 3bears or luckyanna lately? -
Hi All:
Hope everyone is doing well. Can't believe it's September already . . . where did the summer go?? Regarding a get together, just tossing in that I will be gone from Sept. 26-October 10th, so if meeting happens during that time, I'll catch up with all of you the 'next time.'
Take care and God bless,
Pat -
Geez shel! Why the heck didn't I think of that? Of course that is what they meant! Here I was thinking something risque.
Irene - when did your cat start winking? How did you do that? Too cute. Good idea to have those going through treatment pick a date.
Pat - off on another adventure? I'm jealous! -
Hey all...how about the weekend...either day...9/23 or 9/24? Winter is coming too quickly...the days are getting shorter.
-
The 23rd sounds good to me. That way we'll miss the after-church lunch crowd. What about everyone else? Should we post on the other boards to make sure everyone knows? Hopefully at least some of the new ladies can make it.
Nancy - I think she's been winking for a month or so. I got the idea from Janet12's avatar. Once of the programs I use (MS Digital Imago Pro) makes moving gifs. It was real easy. -
Hey Everyone-
I'm game to meet in October (possible that 3rd weekend)? If you all want to meet sooner; I'll catch up on another one.
I'd rather meet closer to Canton..Plymouth..Livonia. Any thoughts?
Where is Judy? I have not seen her post in ages.
Just got word I am losing a friend to this s&%^$ disease-she developed lepetomengial mets to the brain AFTER years os treatment from the primary DX. Such a wonderful woman.
OK..throw out some ideas.
Lorie -
Hi All....
Summers been going well for me... Preparing for my son's senior year and realizing he'll be leaving me by this time next year for college (OMG!!!)..... Taking alot of pics and stuff.....
As far as the get together, I have surgery scheduled for Sept 22nd to redo my redo.... So I won't be able to do the 23rd with ya all, but I hope you guys have a great time.....
Fall happens so quickly anymore.... It seems one day it was warm and nice, then the cool night air changed everything....
Hugs.....
Candi -
Candi - Sorry to hear you have to redo your redo. That sucks.
I guess I won't complain about breaking my toe last week. A few weeks after getting the cast off my broken foot. What a klutz. -
hi everyone!!
I'm thinking October would be better for me too for a get together but I'm not sure when. I was just scheduled for my mastectomy on the 27th of Sept. I'm a little nervous about it, but I'm feeling much better since I found out that my insurance pays 100% of both the mastecomy and reconstruction. Since I found out they planned on doing that instead of a partial breast removal it's been a huge source of extra stress that I really didn't need. Anyway, I know no one really wants to wait real long to get together so whatever works best for ya'll is fine. I can always meet all of you at the next one.
Take care and I hope all of you are feeling good.
Kristy -
Irene,
You broke your toe now, how'd 'ya do that? Was it on the same foot?
Sending wishes for a speedy recovery.
Mary -
Hi Mary,
Yes, it's on the same foot. My husband says he's going to get me steel-toed slippers to wear around the house.
I was coming down the stairs from the second floor (at least it was a different set of stairs this time)and turned the corner, where we have one of those carpeted cat "trees". I stubbed my foot on the sucker. Thank God it's carpeted. I sat for a while until it stopped throbbing, then went back upstairs, where I proceeded to stub it again on the vacuum I'd left out. This was the Friday before Labor Day.
I finally went to the podiatrist (whose son I am putting through college) yesterday, who confirmed that one toe was broken. Talk about embarrassing. At least he and the nurses waited until I laughed about it to laugh at me. I'm just glad I didn't break the foot again. At least I can pretty much hide a broken toe. What a dork.
Irene -
Ouch Irene!
Candi-Been there done that...I didn't even cry when I left her at college (a ten hour drive away). We are super close so I thought it would break my heart...but now five years, later we are still close and talk on the phone almost daily.
Mayqueen-Good luck on your surgery and thank goodness you have the $ figured out.
About the get together...can someone make up a poll for the get together? I don't know how...but we could poll our gals and find out when we can get the most of us together. -
Okay, I've never done a poll, but I'll give it a try.
I'm going to list the next few Saturdays. Let's try everyone marking the dates they can make it and we'll go with the one that has the most people. Unless, of course, it's a date I can't go! -
I'd like to meet up with you guys anytime in October. Anyplace is fine with me.
Gerri -
Great job Irene!
-
Are we getting together to eat and talk? Shop and talk? Visit a local attraction? Just starting to think of where.... I'll give me something to do during treatment today.
Anne -
Hi Anne,
I hope your treatment went okay and you're feeling as well as possible.
Besides the Race, I've only been to one get together, which was a lunch. I would guess, depending on the weather, we could do any of your suggestions. I belive most of the get togethers have been at the Olive Garden in Novi, which is in the middle of a bunch of retail stores.
I guess I could do another poll to see what everyone would like to do.
By the way, if everyone who answered the above poll would post that they answered that would be great. That way we could contact anyone who may not have seen it and get their input also.
Irene -
Well, here's another poll on what everyone wants to do. I'm assuming it would be around lunch since some people may have to travel a bit, which is probably best done earlier in the day. I think I could get hooked on these.
I'll probably do another one (or someone else can) to see where we want to meet since there are quite a few new ladies.
By the way, if the ladies who answered the first poll would post that they did so that would be great. That way we could make sure everyone has seen it. -
Hi Irene,
Thanks for doing these polls for us - they're great!! I responded to October 21st and I responded for lunch only - just because since we see each other so seldom, I thought 'catching up' would be best to do at a lunch.
Thanks,
Pat -
Hi Irene,
I'm game for the 10/21 lunch:-) I would rather go somewhere else than Olive Garden in Novi?
Gotta be some other resturants to venture out too.
Thanks, Lorie
