songbird - yes, balanced will be good, lol! Although I just bought a genius bathing suit on sale with one shoulder, so yay! The allograft replacement was a separate issue, not any kind of real necessity, I had exchanged successfully two years earlier, this was a replacement with a superior new product to improve the support for my implants as they had started to come through the previous allograft - the PS was shocked by the skin's lack of integrity on the left - neither of us saw the problem coming.  The good news is that he is a patient doc, and I am a patient patient :)

SpecialK I think you've learnt to be a patient patient (4 years next month, you go girl!:)).  And sounds like you have a great team of docs working for you:)

You getting that swimsuit just reminded me how much I want to swim - haven't been able to all over the summer due to surgery and infection. Woe is me lol! Hopefully I can in a couple of weeks. Apparently the sea is considered cleaner than a pool, what do you know?

My "explant" was done right there in the PS office.  Just pulled it out.  The incision had opened up very large but still it was weird to have him just pull it out.  When I told my wound care doc that he just pulled it out, without giving me anything or other measures, he didn't believe me!  After PS removed the one implant, he asked if I wanted him to do the other one right then & there (that incision wasn't opened up as bad so I'm surprised he offered to do it then) but I said NO I want some relaxing meds or SOMETHING.  So when I went back for the other explant, they definitely went through more of a procedure....not just a quick pull it out!  And they had me in the surgical suite not just a larger exam room like first explant.  Sigh.

Just saw breast surgeons pa. She took out the picc line, even though I had to argue with her. The ps said today and she said no I was told next week!!! I go back to work Monday I can NOT have a picc line hanging out of me!!!

I just hope all goes well and the infection doesn't come back!! I have professional development Monday and Tuesday and then my little kindergartens start Wednesday. Here's hoping everything goes well and I can actually work this school year! I've been out since January....

    Songbird,

Everything went great!!! We had open house tonight, got to meet my parents and kids. I felt so "normal"!!!! Then I came home and took my shower and when I got out I noticed a stitch popping through the damn incision!!!! I swear I'm going to lose my mind!!!! I don't know if I should call my dr.... She'll probably say come in, could result in surgery to remove the implant... Tomorrows my first day back since January!!!! Ugh..... Not sure what to do. Do I wait and see??

Hi I'm so glad everything went great:) But not so good about the stitch popping. You know you will have to call Dr there is no other way.  And I am sure work will understand if you do need more time because of complications from surgery.

I'm finding it really hard to write back to you and get the right message across. I hope this post reads as supportive as I mean it. I am so sorry you are having this problem.

You are going through so much right now, I'm not surprised you feel you are losing your mind..

But I'm sure you will get through this cerebrally intact and ready for action!

songbird - not sure about ocean versus a swimming pool - different sources of different bacteria.

mommyathome - what did you end up doing?  Hope you are ok.

Haven't had a chance to call.... This work thing is totally taking over my life!!!! Lol seriously though wow what a day!!!! 20 kindergarteners makes for a very draining day!!! I have a headache and haven't even been home yet!!! Kids had baseball and cheer after work.

I'm going to take a look at it tonight, if it's open I'll call. Do u really think the stitch protruding is bad news?! Ugh can't deal ladies, can't deal.

You sound as if you hit the ground running when you went back to work! You haven't stopped:)You can deal!

I have no idea whether a stitch protruding is bad news. I suppose it would depend on where along the incision line it is and if it shows signs of becoming infected like redness, heat etc.

I think if it is worrying you then you are best to get some professional advice - even if it clears up on its own then you'll know if it happened again.

Big hugs and hope it is nothing to worry about

Hi SpecialK how are you? It's between the devil and the deep blue sea which bacteria to fight - lol. I haven't swum in either yet I'm waiting til it is totally healed.

I have been doing zumba though and it's enjoyable but - ouch! my thigh muscles cramp up something awful. Could either be tamoxifen or me being particularly unfit.

    Big hugs to you

Well, I noticed on Wednesday that a stitch was popping through incision.... Now there's a tiny hole!!! Tried to call dr Friday, but by the time I had a chance the office was closed. I have an appointment on Tuesday after school.

Part of me waited to call until Friday because I was scared it would mean another surgery and then back out of work. I just can't keep doing this!! Work is stressing me out! I gave 20 kindergarteners, 6 of who are behavior issues! My days are filled with stress! Then to stress about surgery, not healing, missing work, not getting paid, my already unpaid bills!!!! Ugh!!!!!! I just want to run away! I actually cried after school on Friday because I was just so overwhelmed! The teachers on my team were like don't stress it will all work out! I cried in front of my team!!!!!!!! I just don't feel strong enough to deal with not healing, work, my own four kids, having one car right now, driving my kids to baseball, cheer, unpaid bills, shut off notices, etc etc.

I don't know if I should call my doctor tomorrow and try to send yet another picture of my unhealed holy foob or wait until Tuesday. I am done! I am emotionally spent!!!

Oh honey:( I'm sorry you are going through all this, but you will get through it. It sounds like you have a supportive team of colleagues, which must be helpful. You are such a powerhouse of a woman to be coping so well with everything. Just any one of your problems be too much for a lot of people.

I'm sending all my prayers for you from across the Atlantic that the hole closes up by itself and quickly too with no more time off for surgery:)

    Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks songbird. Looks like it closed a bit over night, but as soon as I shower it will re open. Seems like I deal with this every 3-4 weeks!! I had 4 excisions on this spot already!!

Glad to hear it's closed a bit overnight. Fingers crossed it closes some more! All the way in fact. No sign of infection?

Mine is ok so far, the last stitch dissolved yesterday. It's just a scar line with dots either side of it now.

I added my pic to my profile - you can see who you are talking to now! Although it is very tiny lol - I am shy:)
