Onco, so excited for you! How did you manage that? I have a horrible case of astigmatism in both eyes and blind as a bat! Almost need a seeing eye dog without glasses or contacts.

8/18: grateful I had the drive and focus to complete a small memory book for my Mom. The assisted living facility keeps asking about it, so at least one is done. Working on a more detailed one, too. Now if only they would be as responsive in getting my mom's clothes back to her (they had to do a major industrial cleaning due to a resident's infectious skin condition), it's been 2 weeks.

8/19- grateful to have my skin surgery over with and on to recovery. A patch of basal cell on my scalp that has been there awhile and despite my PCP saying it was nothing, I made an apt with my dermatologist to have it looked at, it was biopsied, and was positive. I learned this lesson a few years ago, don't be afraid to push and get another opinion if you think something does not look or feel right with your body folks.

Surgery went well today, clear margins obtained, and now resting. I should be back to my routines tomorrow. Stitches come out in two weeks.

    Whew!

Went to a substitute teachers meeting today & I am grateful that the new computer program we will be using for our gigs looks like something that I will actually be able to figure out!

Grateful for the 8 years I had with my very handsome but dumb as a bucket of rocks cat Frank, had to put him to sleep tonight, I'm feeling very fragile and heartbroken.

Dear sweet Cheryl, my heart goes out to you. They are such an important part of our lives. The only comforting thought is that he's no longer in pain.

8/19: so grateful I got thru the day with almost no sleep. Every time I sat down, would nod off. Didn't want a nap for fear of not sleeping thru the night. Fell asleep right after a simple dinner, slept a couple hours, now wide awake. Also grateful for the support on BCO, available at any time of day.

Cheryl, so sorry about your Frank. It's a tough decision to make, but done with love for our furry family members in our heart.

Today I am grateful that I made it through a 13 hour work day yesterday. Only minor aches and pains today. Lol.

Grateful to be retired! Today was the first day of teacher workshops & I was out walking with my friends instead of in a stuffy auditorium listening to a boring speaker drone on and on and on......

Grateful for several beautiful days to spend at the beach and for a wonderful visit with my podiatrist yesterday.  I am giving into having surgery on my left foot/achillies tendon.  Had the right foot done 3 years ago and the recovery was looooong.  This time the recovery will hopefully be half the time and maybe no cast, just a boot.   Wahoooo.  He is also just adorable!

Onco yes there are other three other kitty's at home, my Goddaughter has one and there are two ferals that essentially live with us, Hannahs kitty and one of the ferals sat with him on the grass in the back yard for a few hours before he got sick, she though it was "cute" they were all sitting together but in reality they must have been comforting  him as one of their "pack" was obviously in their eyes ill.  Red that is a great deal for a gym, I say go for it, I look at my gym memberships as something I do for me, I'm worth itWinking Glad you're doing well after the surgery Jazzy.

Today I am grateful for an absolutely beautiful morning drive to work.

Jazzy, glad you are doing well!

Grateful that I will see my IT son this weekend. My cellphone wasn't working right, so I brought it in. The tech. guy (who was yawning & sniffling as he worked) fixed the original problem, but now a number of other things are messed up (some of which I can figure out, others I can't). Argh.....I am sure I will have better luck with DS then bringing it back to the store!

P.S. I am very grateful that I have 'normal' problems, like the phone, to be complaining about!!!

Jazzy, that's wonderful! Hoping it gets a little better every day!

Ncollett, welcome! Looking forward to more posts from you.

Today, 8/21 I am grateful I could arrange my day to stay at home. Ever heard "when it doubt, throw it out?" I should have followed that advice today (used the juicer and I think some of the fruit was beyond its expiration date and my tummy rebelled).

Also, actually glad we had a power outage in our area. Yes, maybe the heat got to my brain (no AC, outside temp was a little cooler today at about 90* in the shade, nothing 100*+). Having no electricity made me really appreciate when I do have it. No electricity forced me to do things I hadn't planned on and in a different way.

One of those things was I have been toying with ideas to create a couple new threads but just couldn't get a round tuit:

    Ha Ha

Today, the power outage made it happen. Amazing what happens when there's no technology to interfere with my day.

8/22- woke up to a swollen face this morning 3 days post surgery and was worried. Talked to the derm office who reassured me this sometimes happens at night after scalp surgery, and that I should expect to maybe see some swelling each morning after night time sleep. We talked about my incision and how that was looking and she told me everything sounds okay, just some post op swelling as the fluids drain down into the face during horizontal time.

Grateful for my persistence with the derm center to keep pushing to talk to a real person to be sure I was okay instead of getting routed to VM's. My first major SE post op, but I will be fine!

Onco, any time you feel weepy, just cry. You'll  feel better afterwards. And you can share anything you want with us.

Jazzy, that must have been scary. To wake up, wander into the bathroom, look in the mirror and say wtf? Who is that? Glad it was all explained to your satisfaction and you didn't get routed through VM's.
