Another one I took at the zoo. I don't know what kind of bird he is, but his feathers just glowed in the sunlight :-)
-
He is off...
-
birdlady, really great color...love it

We spent yesterday at Trillium Lake on Mt. Hood and got to watch an osprey circle and dive for fish. My DS & DIL are birders and teaching their kids. Fun.
-
Love it Wren. Bet that was fun. I just love to look at Mount Hood.

Enjoy all the pics. I have been at my mom's for two weeks and then got home and a day later got sick and am still under the weather. Lisa, I finally got out to our town Riverwalk before getting sick. I practiced with my new camera on all the ducks. What a hoot. I was in a place where there were some rapid water over rocks. The ducks scrambled so fast I had a heck of a time keeping track of where they went. LOL Since I am down for the count have been studying the manual. Too bad they didn't provide a hard copy of it.
What is that red bird? Gorgeous.
-
Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I think you can order a hard copy of the manual. I got a cheat sheet for my camera bag from Amazon, but the print is so small I need a magnifier to read it. The price of the over 70 set. I did go to the pfd. And print some things that I need to keep handy.
-
-
Maybe a scarlet ibis. ;o)
-
Might be Teka. Maybe a baby one.Lisa, I might order the manual. I like hard copies of those kind of things. This camera is so light when I go back to my SLR it will feel like a ton
.

The parent's don't know whether they are coming or going!
-
Lisa,
I was reading on a photography blog and this person mentioned a cheat sheet also. Today is the first I have ever heard of this. I ordered a couple of them for my Nikon D90 SLR and for the new Canon. I have a feeling I should have also bought the magnifier they were selling after looking at your post again. We'll see.

bandwoman: good Swan parents, looking for predators in all directions!

Yes, good parents!

nice painting

Lovely!

Husband and I saw several osprey nests while traveling on a mini-vacation to Nova Scotia!
-
Our 2nd round of robins have hatched. This nest is in a quince tree and barely visible even if you know it's there.

Mind if I jump in? I have a wee cute story. Just put a birdfeeder up outside the window. Chickadees came, and a scolding house wren. wren kept jumping up and seeming to get inside the plexiglass slider, right inside, where the seeds are (log cabin style feeder, bought at the roadside in S. Carolina) then hopping out again. After a while, as seeds had gone down, I could see feathers - or sticks? sticking up out of the seeds. sure enough, the wren had seen this beautiful new home and was building a nest..too cute, but, too many invaders too. No wonder he was forever scolding.
Your photos are gorgeous!
-
Yes, house wrens love to build nests in the strangest places.
I'm going to need a new wren house next Summer.
flannelette, welcome anytime!
-
Hi all and welcome to Flannelette. I love chickadees. One of my favorite backyard birds. I am still under the weather and have been spending lots of time with pics in order to NOT go stir crazy! This was my first attempt at bird photography a few years ago. It was fun, frustrating and fascinating all at the same time. No editing or photoshop. Taken in central Illinois. We have many seagulls here now.
Wren, Yeah to robins hatching again!!!!!!
Lisa, the beautiful painting reminded me of these pics from a few years back.
-
very nice...
I saw the painting in Maine..in a shop..
-
I took this in Florida with our BCO Chatters meet
-
Lisa, such cute little birds. I still feel like the new kid on the block. I haven't heard of BCO chatters meet. Sounds great.
-
There was a chat room here that apparently is defunct now...but it has been renewed on facebook..
-
I see. Thanks for the info.
